  • Patent number: 5055096
Abstract: A differential gearing comprises a carrier (1); output gears (3, 11); and differential gears (4, 5) in two sets meshing respectively with the output gears and directly or indirectly with one another. The differential gears are disposed asymmetrically about the carrier so that a resultant radial force acts on the output gears urging them into engagement with recesses in the carrier (1) or a support member (7) therein, so that the frictional inhibition of the differential action is increased.

  • Patent number: 5054594
Abstract: The invention is directed to a freewheel clutch which transmits torque in two directions of rotation and controls the blocking pawls by control rings which are held back by friction rings ounter to the rotary motion and by guide extensions and pivot journals of blocking pawls guided in radial slots in guide extensions which move the blocking pawls out of or into engagement with the assigned support recesses of the inner part into a disengaged or engaged position. While, for instance, the one blocking pawl is moved into the torque transmitting position, simultaneously, the other blocking pawl is moved out of the position permitting torque transmittal. This assures a short response travel and with it a rapid switchover from the one driving direction to the other without interfering with the freewheeling motion.

  • Patent number: 5054698
Abstract: A cutting unit for a comminuting machine, particularly for meat. The cutting unit includes a perforated disk and a drivable cutting knife body with cutting edges which interact with the perforated disk. The cutting knife body has additional cutting edges which extend approximately in radial direction. The additional cutting edges interact with approximately radially extending counter-cutting edges of the machine housing. The additional cutting edges may be provided in the form of grooves on the free ends of arms of a star-shaped cutting knife body. The counter-cutting edges may be provided on a housing ring which can be easily replaced and repaired. The additional cutting edges and the counter-cutting edges do not contact each other. The cutting edges preferably extend parallel to each other and are located on an imaginary outer truncated cone-shaped generated surface of the cutting knife body and an inner truncated cone-shaped surface of the machine housing.

  • Patent number: 5054756
Abstract: Devices are described which are suitable for simultaneous hydraulic expansion of several longitudinal sections of a hollow shaft for the production of connections by interlocking or frictional engagement between said sections and elements fitted thereto such as cams, toothed wheels and bearing seats. The devices include pressure probes with a longitudinal hydraulic fluid channel and a radial inlet bore to each longitudinal section of the hollow shaft to be expanded and, if necessary, with a longitudinal discharge channel and a radial discharge bore to the undeformed longitudinal sections of the hollow shaft between the sections to be expanded. Sealing means are provided which seal the undeformed longitudinal sections of the hollow shaft against penetration of the hydraulic fluid from the intermediate longitudinal sections of the hollow shaft to be expanded.

  • Patent number: 5054973
Abstract: A tool bit has a body (1) with an axially extending insertion end (2) for insertion into a chuck on a drive unit. The insertion end (2) has closed ended axially extending grooves (4) and axially extending grooves (5) open at the trailing end of the insertion end. The open end grooves have a base (6) with a shaped configuration (7). The shaped base has depressions or recesses (8) forming stop faces (9) extending transversely of the axial direction and acting essentially in the axial direction of the insertion end. When the insertion end (2) is placed into the chuck, any dirt on the stop faces (9) can be wiped off and deposited in the recesses (8). The shaped configuration (7) of the base (6) prevents, during formation of the axially extending grooves (4, 5), by means of grooving tools rolling in the axial direction of the insertion end (2), any undesirable length changes in the insertion end while affording sharp-edges rolling of the shaped configuration.

  • Patent number: 5055023
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing large-volume hollow bodies of plastics material with multiple-layer walls. The apparatus defines an accumulation chamber and has a nozzle outlet. A plurality of material layers are joined into a multiple-layer plastic material melt within a tubular plunger which is movable in axial direction of the apparatus. The multiple-layer plastics material melt is conducted in a flow duct which widens in the shape of a funnel toward the accumulation chamber. The tubular plunger is forced by the melt to move in axial direction away from the nozzle outlet. The material melt is ejected as a multiple-layer extruded material by moving the tubular plunger in axial direction toward the nozzle outlet.

  • Patent number: 5055278
Abstract: A procedure is disclosed for substantially decreasing the amount of nitrogen oxides (NO.sub.x) in waste furnace gases during the combustion of fossil fuel, in which as a primary measure, the fuel is subjected in the combustion space to a stepped, pyrolyzing combustion with low combustion temperatures and decreased available oxygen (substoichiometric amounts) in the reaction zone and with prolonged residence times in the combustion space and then as a secondary measure, the reactive waste gas components, which are thereby formed to an increased extent, such as carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (CH), etc. are eliminated, if necessary with the addition of more air, by catalytic oxidation at a temperature within the range of 800.degree. C. to 200.degree. C., before the waste gases reach the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5052447
Abstract: A guide device for a web of material at a point of a textile machine, preferably a weaving machine, at which the web of material is produced. The guide device includes a first guide strip with a guide edge which first guide strip is arranged subsequent to the point at which the web of material is produced and a second guide strip with a guide edge which second guide strip is arranged subsequent to the first guide strip. The guide strips extend in each instance along the entire width of the web of material and overlap one another in such a way the web of material is guided at least approximately in an F-shaped manner. The guide edge of the second guide strip is formed by a rotatable round bar. The rotatable round bar is arranged in a loose manner in such a way that is is supported, under the influence of the tensile stress of the web of material, along the web of material at the first guide edge and in direct contact at the end face of a guide element of the second guide strips.

  • Patent number: 5052079
Abstract: A pivoted fitting or turn-and-tilt fitting for windows, doors or the like comprises a bottom turn-and-tilt bearing and a top pivot bearing, both bearings being in each case constructed with two links in order to shift the pivot axis during pivoted opening of the leaf frame. In order to relieve the links of the weight of the leaf, it is suggested that the leaf frame be supported on the fixed frame via an arrangement which is independent of the links of the two pivot bearings.

  • Patent number: 5052845
Abstract: For weight saving purposes and to make optimum use of the material there is provided a hollow shaft, to which drive elements such cams or end flanges are attached preferably by expanding the shaft in portions, made up of at least two layers including an outer layer, preferably produced of a material of a higher strength such as steel and an inner layer produced of a material of a lower strength, such as aluminum or titanium. If there are problems in achieving sufficiently secure fixing of the drive elements by expanding the hollow shaft in the regions to be expanded, it is possible to provide supporting rings which are deformed only plastically whereas the materials of the hollow shaft, as well as the drive elements themselves are deformed only elastically. The regions to be expanded are limited by seals on a pressure probe which is supplied with a pressurized fluid via a channel.

  • Patent number: 5052206
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for automatically aligning horizontal rolls and vertical rolls in a universal rolling mill stand after the stand has been changed to new types of sections in a rolling mill train. The axial geometric configuration of the vertical rolls in the stand serve as a fixed reference value and the horizontal rolls are displaced radially and axially into roll positions which are measured by actual position indicators and from which the geometric roll gap center and the geometric roll center in the stand are determined. For taking into consideration the spring characteristic constants of the stand, the radial spring characteristic for the two horizontal rolls is determined together, the radial spring characteristic for each vertical roll is determined separately and the axial spring characteristic of one of the horizontal rolls is determined separately in accordance with one of the two axial directions.
