Abstract: A method as well as a device are provided for determining the residual travel duration of a submarine, with which firstly for at least one certain travel situation a reference journey is carried out with which the power consumption of the submarine is detected as stored as a dependent-dependent consumption profile. Later, for the same travel situation, the residual travel duration or a residual capacity of a battery given a predefined travel duration is determined on the basis of the stored consumption profile and the current battery data.

Abstract: A pressing apparatus using a motor, in which a fast feed drive lowers an upper die to a position immediately before pressing, and a motor for pressing performs a pressing operation. The fast feed drive and the motor for pressing operate cooperatively, and only one position detector, which detects a present position of a slider, is provided for a set of the fast feed drive and the motor for pressing.
Abstract: An electrical connector jack is provided including a body with a support portion and a plug receiving portion defining an opening. A circuit board is mounted to the support portion to position the circuit board relative to the plug receiving portion. The circuit board has interconnecting conductor circuit traces respectively extending from spring contact termination locations. A plurality of terminated spring contact conductors is provided with each terminating at a respective one of the spring contact termination locations, each of the terminated spring contact conductors having a contact zone. A plurality of supported spring contact conductors are supported by the body and extend therefrom. The supported spring contact conductors each have a plug contact zone and a terminated spring contact conductor zone.
Abstract: In a method for controlling the movement of a manipulator associated with an interpretation of a given point sequence of poses (positions and orientations) by splines, the motion components are separately parameterized. Thus, marked, subsequent changes to the orientation of robot axes have no undesired effects on the Cartesian movement path of the robot. Suitable algorithms are provided for orientation control by using quaternions or Euler angles.

Abstract: A method for rapidly heating an emission control device in an engine exhaust uses excess air added to the exhaust via an air introduction device. After an engine cold start, the engine is operated to raise exhaust manifold temperature to a first predetermined value by operating the engine with a lean air-fuel ratio and retarded ignition timing. Once the exhaust manifold reaches the predetermined temperature value, the engine is switched to operate rich and air is added via the air introduction device. The added air and rich exhaust gas burn in the exhaust, thereby generating heat and raising catalyst temperature even more rapidly. The rich operation and excess air are continued until either engine airflow increases beyond a pre-selected value, or the emission control device reaches a desired temperature value. After the emission control device reaches the desired temperature, the engine is operated substantially around stoichiometry.

Abstract: A method is provided for controlling an engine having an intake manifold and an outlet control device coupled to the manifold for controlling flow exiting the manifold and entering at least one cylinder of the engine. The engine further includes an inlet control device for controlling flow entering the manifold. The method includes providing an engine command; calculating a desired cylinder charge based on said command; and adjusting the outlet control device to provide said desired cylinder charge. The engine command may be, for example, a driver command, such as a driver torque command. Further, the outlet control device may be implement in with a variety of mechanisms. For example, in one embodiment the outlet control device is a valve of the engine having a variable lift. In one embodiment the outlet device is a valve having variable timing. Likewise, the inlet device may be adjusted in response to a variety of parameters.

Abstract: A method for machining workpieces by means of a multiaxial manipulator, such as an industrial robot, with a tool moved proportionally by a control unit of the manipulator and which can perform characteristic movements with several degrees of freedom is characterized in that the degrees of freedom of the tool are evaluated together with the degrees of freedom of axes of the manipulator in real time for moving a tool tip (TCP) in accordance with a predetermined, continuous machining path or a portionwise continuous machining geometry (step function) and for determining a movement of the manipulator. The invention also proposes a device suitable for performing the aforementioned method, in which the tool and a tool tip, during workpiece machining, are movement-controllable by the manipulator control unit. In this way it is possible to drastically reduce the overall machining time.
Abstract: The device to join a sheet of smooth cardboard (N4) to a sheet of corrugated cardboard (N1; N2; N3), comprises a series of heated plates (3) aligned according to a longitudinal direction of feed (F) of the cardboard and, above said heated plates, pressure elements (53) to press the cardboard against said heated plates, which are fastened by elastic elements to a supporting structure (41). The supporting structure comprises a plurality of frames (41) aligned according to the longitudinal direction (F) and the inclination of the frames is adjustable to modify the pressure profile applied by said pressure elements to the cardboard (C).
Abstract: A method to orient a tubular knitted article, such as a sock or the like, with respect to a pocket of fabric, for example the heel or toe pocket of said article. The method comprises the phases of: stretching an article on a tubular member (1) so that an intermediate part of the band (F) surrounding an end to be sewn of said article (M) is positioned along a line intersecting in two points the end edge of the tubular member and the remaining part is disposed along the outer side surface of the tubular member; detecting the angular position of said band on the tubular member; identifying the position of a pocket of fabric of the article on the basis of the angular position of said band with respect to the tubular member.
