Abstract: A method and a device are provided for individually adapting the saddle of a two-wheeled vehicle, especially bicycle saddles. The local pressing pressure of the buttocks of a test subject is measured on a adapting device (1) with a measuring saddle (2) and a pressure-measuring device (4) arranged on or in the seat surface at individual points or over a large area and in a localizing manner and evaluated. The two-wheeled vehicle saddle (8) is specifically adapted to the shape of the individual buttocks corresponding to the measuring results and is additionally cushioned where the contact pressure is higher.
Abstract: A towing device (1) for towing vehicles has a tow bar (8) movably mounted about at least two axes of rotation, and at least one mechanical drive (13) for moving the tow bar between an operating position and a position of rest. The drive has a mechanism (14) for generating an at least partially superimposed movement of the tow bar about both axes. The preferred features include the axes of rotation being positioned at right angles to each other. The mechanism is designed as a gear unit (21) coupling the pivot axis (16) and the axis of rotation (18). The rotational movement of the tow bar about the axis of rotation is derived from the pivoting movement of the tow bar or a housing (19).
Abstract: The present invention is a dual-stage fuel injection strategy for compression ignition engines in which 15-40% of the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber no later than about ?20 to ?30 CA ATDC and as early as IVC. The remaining fuel is then injected in one or more fuel pulses, none of which start before about ?20 to ?30 CA ATDC. The fuel injected early in the compression stroke forms a lean mixture that burns with low soot and low NOx emissions. The combustion of that fuel serves to increase in-cylinder temperature such that the ignition delay of subsequent fuel injection pulses is short. This mode is utilized when it is predicted that a NOx spike is imminent. Various other alternative methods for reducing NOx spikes are also disclosed such as specialized EGR systems that can provide EGR with low manifold vacuum.

Abstract: A shift knob (1) for a gearshift lever (3) of an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle has a locking bar (5) guided axially in the gearshift lever (3) and a release button (2) which can be actuated manually for actuating the locking bar (5) in relation to the gearshift lever (3). The release button (2) is arranged in the shift knob (1) at the top end of the gearshift lever (3). The release button (2) is connected to the shift knob (1) by means of at least one lever arm (16) via a mounting site (17). The length of the lever arm (16) of the release button (2) is selected such in relation to the path traveled by the release button (2) during the actuation that the release button (2) performs an essentially linear movement.

Abstract: An engine cooling system is described that uses the same actuator to adjust both fan speed and coolant pump speed based on operating conditions of the engine and vehicle. The airflow and coolant flow are thus dependent, however, they are independent from engine speed.
Abstract: An intercooler (3) is provided with heat exchanger surfaces (6) and is arranged in the gas stream between two compressors (1, 2) or two compressor stage groups for compressing a gas. An aftercooler (5) is also provided with heat exchanger surfaces (7) and is arranged after the second compressor (2). To utilize the waste heat generated in the coolers (3, 5), the heat exchanger surfaces (6, 7) of the intercooler (3) and of the aftercooler (5) are integrated in a steam generator (9) in such a way that the heat exchanger surfaces are connected with the feedwater pump (40, 59) of the steam generator (9).
Abstract: In a projection device including a casing having an inlet vent and an outlet vent, and a plurality of components including a light source disposed within the casing, a blower system is provided, wherein the blower system includes a plurality of blower portions operable to draw air into the casing through an inlet vent, circulate air among the plurality of components, and eject circulated air from the casing through an outlet vent; and a blower motor configured to operate the plurality of blower portions.
Abstract: A pump gun is disclosed having a loading and firing mechanism which comprises a cartridge stop lever (21), that is not connected to the hammer, interacts with the cocking slide (22) associated with the cartridge magazine and is susceptible to rocking movements on an intermediate pin (30) between an operating interception position of a first cartridge in the magazine, when the cocking slide is in a retracted work position, and an idle release position of the same cartridge from the magazine tube, when the cocking slide is in the forward rest position.
Abstract: A fuel pressure relief system in an engine fuel system having a fuel line is shown. In one example, the system has a pressure relief valve in the fuel line; and a pressure relief assembly coupled to the relief valve, the assembly having an accumulator in communication with the engine side of the fuel line at least during engine off conditions.
Abstract: The method for predicting seismic events includes supplying electricity by means of a detection unit (3) fitted with current electrodes (A, B) and potential probes (M, N) arranged in the ground and detecting electrical current and induced potentials by means of said electrodes (A, B) and said reception probes (M, N), for the calculation of resistivity in the ground. The resistivity data recorded is acquired and stored and then transferred to a means of analysis and processing (11). Finally, resistive drops in relation to preset values, corresponding to the approach of seismic events are evaluated.
Abstract: A device for enriching air with oxygen in an aircraft, and a method for operating the device provides product gas enrichment with oxygen with minimum requirements. An oxygen measurement apparatus analyzing the product gas flow as well as a throughput sensor are provided in combination with a change-over device. A flow connection to an outlet channel is created in a first switch position, and a flow connection to a consumer conduit exists in a second switch position. A device for producing a change-over signal from the first switch position to the second switch position is provided if the determined oxygen output as a product of the product gas flow and the oxygen concentration has reached or exceeded a predefined threshold value.

Abstract: A system is described for improving engine and vehicle performance by considering the effects of exhaust conditions on catalyst particle growth. Specifically, engine operation is adjusted to reduce operating in such conditions, and a diagnostic routine is described for determining the effects of any operation that can cause such particle growth. Further, routines are described for controlling various vehicle conditions, such as deceleration fuel shut-off, to reduce effects of the particle growth on emission performance.
