  • Patent number: 5052196
Abstract: A device for pneumatically tensioning and reversing tubular manufactured articles such as socks, upon completion, by a circular knitting machine. The device includes a small diameter rotating needle cylinder. The device has an external tubular casing and an internal element for forming an interspace with an annular cross section for pneumatic tensioning. The internal element forms an axial passage inside which the manufactured article is turned inward and reversed during a pneumatic operation where the article is reversed and conveyed away. Both the tubular casing and the internal element consist of two sections with different diameters. Upper sections with a smaller diameter are accommodated within the needle cylinder and the lower sections with a larger diameter are located outside and adjacent to the needle cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5053478
Abstract: Production of polyenaminonitriles including those which can be cyclized to very stable poly(aminoquinolines) without the evolution of any small molecules and thus in a manner free of volatiles. The polyenaminonitriles are polymers which have desirable dielectric properties, and include those which can be cyclized to poly(aminoquinolines) without the evolution of volatiles to make defect-free films and composites of similar dielectric properties because of this characteristic.

  • Patent number: 5052213
Abstract: An exhalation air analysis device, in particular for alcohol analysis including a flow duct coming from the tested person to a testing housing having a movable duct element with a recess. The duct element can be adjusted in two different settings in the housing. In the first position the recess is connected to an inlet and outlet of the exhalation air line, so that the recess forms a part of the flow duct of the exhalation air. In a second position of the duct element, its recess is cut off from the flow duct and connected to a detector. The volume of the recess forms a part of the analysis chamber required for the analysis.

  • Patent number: 5051052
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an aircraft tractor without tow-bar. The arrangement avoids relative movement between the nose wheel of the aircraft and the tractor lifting platform by making the lifting platform (24) rotatable around a longitudinal axis (30) of the chassis, which axis is horizontal when the chassis is extended, and by making displaceable the transverse tow arms (38) and/or the holders (42) at right angles to this longitudinal axis (30). The tires of an oblique nose wheel landing gear of an aircraft being towed in a curve are handled very gently, because the tractor parts (24, 38, and 42) that are in contact with the nose wheel landing gear are able to follow the movements of the nose wheel landing gear and to adjust to its instantaneous position.

  • Patent number: 5048620
Abstract: An apparatus for air rotary drilling in saturated unconsolidated deposits. It consists of a drill rod connected to a drill bit and a drill casing surrounding the drill rod which defines a well in a drilled region. A pressurized air source is connected to the drill rod, the drill rod having a bore for supplying air under pressure to the drill bit, to force air and material up the drill casing in an area defined between the drill rod and the drill casing. A rotary drive arrangement drives the drill rod in rotation to provide a drilling action in cooperation with the high pressure air, the high pressure air source providing high pressure air to the drill rod bore. A snorkel discharge arrangement discharges air and material from the space defined between the drill pipe and the drill rod.

  • Patent number: 5048866
Abstract: This invention is directed to a useful improvement in a seat belt mount mechanism for use in an automotive vehicle of the type that an anchor plate adapted to support a shoulder anchor for holding the seat belt extending through an opening defined therein is mounted operatively to a door sash element of the vehicle body by way of a fixing bracket, wherein there is provided an elongated portion extending outwardly from the lower end of the anchor plate, upon which the elongated portion the shoulder anchor is held operatively, whereby it is feasible in practice to bring the mount for the shoulder anchor as far behind as possible of the door sash element, and consequently, the seat belt may serve more effectively in function to forcibly catch a driver or passengers therein. With this arrangement, it is possible in practice to make the anchor plate and the fixing bracket small and compact in construction, accordingly.

  • Patent number: 5048752
Abstract: A heat carrier circulation for a vehicle heating system includes a heater independent of the engine. The heat carrier circulation contains a forward line which leads from the internal combustion vehicle drive engine to a heating system heat exchanger for the vehicle interior and which has a parallel branch in which the heater is disposed; and a return line leading from the heating system heat exchanger back to the internal combustion engine. The heat exchanger circulation contains a connection which goes from the return line to the part of the forward line located ahead of the heater. Installed in the heat carrier circulation is a settable valve which controls the ratio at which heat carrier flows to the heater from the connecting line and from the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 5048517
Abstract: A respirator for recirculating breathing gases, comprises an expiration bag in which an internal tension spring is provided for compressing the bag, and an inspiration bag which can be connected to a respiration gas source. A CO.sub.2 -binding chemical cartridge and an oxygen source is arranged in the respiratory circuit. A space-saving arrangement of the tension spring provided in the breathing bag is also used to generate a positive pressure in the entire respiratory circuit. The positive pressure exercised by the tension springs in the respiratory circuit can be reduced rapidly if necessary, and the operation can be continued under normal pressure. To achieve this, the inspiration bag 11 is provided with an internally disposed pre-tensioning spring 101 serving to compress the inspiration bag.

  • Patent number: 5046211
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process and a device for cleaning parts, in particular glass panes (2) of vehicles to prepare them for subsequent treatment processes, such as application of adhesive, etc. The cleaning device (1) comprises a wiping element in the form of a cleaning band (10) which is moved relative to the part (2) to be treated. The cleaning band is guided in a loop (12) between two rolls (13 and 14) and is brought into contact with the part (2) to be treated, while the cleaning band (10) is wound off section by section and cyclically between or during the cleaning processes. To do so, an additional loop (44) is formed in the area of the loop (12) and fresh band material is wound off of the reserve roll (13). The loop (44) is subsequently eliminated and the used band material is fed to the used-material roll (14).

  • Patent number: 5045097
Abstract: A soot filter for diesel-powered vehicles has two diesel particle filters which are connected to a preliminary muffler via separate ducts, which open radially into a filter prechamber. The exhaust gases can be sent through one of the diesel particle filters or the other by a damper control device, with the dampers being arranged far away from the filters, in the vicinity of the preliminary muffler. Thus, the dampers are located at a fairly great distance from the burner, which is arranged on the front side of the diesel particle filter, and which is designed such that it produces an approximately disk-shaped flame that is directed toward the front side of the diesel particle filter.
