  • Patent number: 4931011
Abstract: Formerly unpleasant blue smoke was generated in a vaporizer burner for auxiliary heaters for motor vehicles once the fuel supply was cut off and the flame died down, as the remaining fuel was merely heated up, but not burnt. According to the invention the glow plug is activated for a determined period of time during the after-running phase of the combustion air blower. By this means practically all remaining fuel is vaporized and burnt and therefore the forming of blue smoke and remaining residues in the area of the plug muff and/or the burner is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4928577
Abstract: It is a question of a piston and cylinder unit comprising a cylinder barrel defining a piston space, a piston able to run axially in said barrel with a support action due to a peripheral bearing surface of the barrel. The piston includes at least one annular running belt which is coaxially arranged thereon along part of the length of the piston. The belt has a surface facing radially outwards which makes contact with the inner bearing surface of the barrel with sliding fit to support the piston, while an inwardly directed surface of the belt bears on an outer peripheral surface of the piston, which is spaced from the bearing surface of the barrel. The belt further has an inwardly directed retainer spur fitting into a groove-like peripheral recess in the piston. The belt is made of a material with resiliently elastic properties and is interrupted at one position on its periphery so that in the fitted condition of the belt there is a closed interruption able to be opened out for fitting purposes.

  • Patent number: 4928386
Abstract: The invention relates to a mounting device for the automatic assembly of prefabricated parts or such as aggregates to a car body from below. For this purpose the aggregates 14 are arranged centeredly, but removably on installation plates 12, which are mounted liftably and in the lifted position floatingly yielding on a mounting frame 9. The aggregates 14 are penetrated by vertical centering journals of the installation plates 12. The protruding part 24 of the centering journal 17 is tapered in its face region and serves to enter an assigned centering bore of the car body 1 while the mounting frame is lifted. As the installation plate 12 is mounted floatingly on the mounting frame 9 in this phase, the aggregate arranged on it moves automatically into an assembly position in which an automatic process can take place.

  • Patent number: 4926284
Abstract: An atmospheric electrode is charged by electrostatic induction from a leader stroke which is associated with lightning formation. The electrode is earthed through a varistor which becomes conductive when the value of the tension associated to the electric field at ground exceeds a pre-determined value. In this way, a destructive return stroke, which usually follows a leader stroke during lightning formation, is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4925156
Abstract: The invention provides a control circuit arrangement for solenoid valves, which has a timer adapted to supply the solenoid valve with a higher attraction current during an adjustable time starting with the beginning of a switching signal for the solenoid valve. After the time interval a low hold current flows until the end of the switching signal. For this purpose there is a semiconductor switch adapted to switch the flow of current through the solenoid valve. A logic gate arrangement is connected with an input of the switch and the gate arrangement is supplied with the output signal of the timer arranged to be triggered by the switching signal and the output signal of an oscillation generator. This circuit arrangement makes is possible to reduce a higher attraction current to a lower hold current in a simple and cheap manner, there only being a small overall size and as significant advantages it is possible for the arrangement to be converted for complementary logic.

  • Patent number: 4924598
Abstract: A height measuring device comprises a carriage containing a measuring pin which is moved by a drive motor against an article to be measured in a manner such that the measuring takes place when the pin is held against the article with a precise measuring force. The construction includes a carriage which is supported by an endless belt and moved upwardly and downwardly by driving one of the rollers over which the belt is guided. A ram rod extends through a hollow area of the carriage which is divided by a ring piece into upper and lower chambers, the coil springs are placed around the ram rods in both the upper and lower chambers and are braced between the ring pieces at their one ends and the portion of the carriage which closes each end of the hollow portion of the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4924614
Abstract: The invention discloses a gun barrel with a novel pattern of a rifling curve. The latter proceeds at start of motion from the parabolic curve y=A+Bx+Cx.sup.2 and is supplemented with a constant D, to which is added a freely selectable exponent =d. Due to the freely selected exponent as parameter the ridge force maximum can be displaced at almost equal level between the start of motion and the barrel mouth. At the barrel mouth the ridge force drops to a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4924861
Abstract: A piston and cylinder unit provides a supply actuable by means of an actuation device for delivering respiratory air in a respiratory cycle of a respirator. Its piston is sealed with its cylinder by means of a pair of rolling membranes arranged symmetrically with regard to one another. The membranes separate the cylinder contents into an antechamber and a working chamber. The wear of the rolling membranes during the working strokes and especially during the starting is decreased by a clean rolling of the folds. Also a leakage control takes place even during operation and an immediate detection of leaks due to bending stress, aging or other influences is guaranteed. For this purpose an inner chamber which is enclosed by the two rolling membranes is under a pressure different from the pressure in the antechamber and the working chamber so that the highest pressure is on a concave inside of the folds.

  • Patent number: 4923558
Abstract: A device for welding plastic foil strips together with a heating device and a pair of pressure rolls between which the strips are fed, includes a pressure device supported by a spring mechanism for one of two pressure rolls. The pressure device includes a first regulating mechanism for the setting of the width of the gap between the two pressure rolls and a second regulating mechanism for the setting of the welding pressure which is arranged on the first regulating mechanism and which can be moved by it. The regulating units of the two regulating mechanisms are two interacting eccentric elements. This leads to a compact design and only little force is necessary for the setting of the welding pressure.
