Abstract: The invention relates to optical components for fiber-optic transmission system, e.g. attenuation element, filter, power divider, comprising at least two supports 50,51 for the fibers 53,54 and an adjusting member 52 movable therebetween. The invention is based on the object to provide an optical component of this kind suitable for remote control. The invention provides that the supports are formed as guide plates 50,51 and that the adjusting member is formed as adjustment plate 52 of dielectric material, that the adjustment plate 52 is movable in a guide space 57 formed between the guide plates 50, 51, and that at least one support plate 50,51 is provided with at least two electrode surfaces 55,56 building-up a dielectric field, said electrode surfaces 55, 56 being connected to a control system for voltage supply.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for improving the grinding result of a pressure chamber grinder. According to the method the finely divided material to be ground is fed by means of a mechanical feeder device (1) into a pressurized equalizing tank (2), the possibly clodded material is made loose by means of a rotor in the equalizing tank, and the material thus made loose is transferred into a pre-grinder (3), wherein several grinding-gas jets are applied to the material to be ground so that the material to be ground is fluidized, the fluidized material-gas flow is passed into a bisecting device (6), wherein it is divided into two component flows of equivalent magnitude and composition, each component flow is passed into the main grinding chamber (9) through a long accelerating nozzle (8) of its own, which said nozzle is directed so that a collision zone for the two component flows is formed in the center point of the said main grinding chamber.

Abstract: An improved auxiliary sun visor. It comprises a base plate removably attached to a sun visor installed against a windshield of an automobile and having a guide hole therein with a movable member slidably mounting in the guide hole. The movable member can be fixed at a suitable position along said elongate guide hole and a colored transparent light shielding plate can be attached to the movable member. The colored transparent light shielding plate can change its angle in horizontal or vertical plane freely in accordance with the need of the driver. Further using a strap piece, the attachment of the auxiliary sun visor is facilitated.
Abstract: During electric arc discharge discrete points of the cathode surface are so strongly heated that ionized cathode material is volatilized. Use of such hot spots as vapor source for vacuum coating is, however, impaired by the fact that a short time after beginning of the vapor emission from a hot spot molten material in the form of droplets is also hurled away. The invention provides continuous vapor deposition on the cathode surface with a metal compound which can be broken down, by which accelerated migration of the vapor emitting hot spots is forced in such a way that the hot spots migrate away from a particular site before spatter formation starts. The cathode surface is preferentially continuously sputtered so strongly that the metal quantity supplied to it through the metal compound is 12 to 25% of the quantity of metal carried off through vaporization from hot spots.
Abstract: The inking device of a printing machine is composed of an inking roller, providing an elastic surface, the inking roller producing a pre-dosed ink layer on the inking rollers. A dosing strip wipes off the pre-dosed ink layer and leaves the quantity necessary for the transfer onto a stereo cylinder, the wiped off excess ink running off freely. For self-cleaning purposes, the dosing strip carries out a movement preferably in the direction of the circumference of the inking roller, so that the area forming the dosing slot which is in contact with the inking roller is continuously modified.

Abstract: In a procedure for feeding two limp workpiece sheets intended to be treated together and/or connected with each other and positioning them with respect to each other, it is provided to clamp them in a planar suspended position in clips of trolleys guided by rails. They are moved by the trolleys to scan their contours in a scanning station and to align them relative to each other in an alignment station. The alignment position of the workpiece sheets is fixed through a coupling device, which acts upon clip holders on the trolleys and can be moved together with them. This simultaneously connects the trolleys assigned to each other in pairs into a structure moving as a unit. The workpiece sheets are subsequently guided in their fixed alignment position to a treatment or processing station.

Abstract: Sliding layers overlays produced by cathode sputtering comprise a matrix-forming metallic material and at least one other material which is substantially insoluble in the matrix have greatly improved mechanical and corrosion resistance properties, if the insoluble material has a lower melting point than the matrix material, and if the diameters of the particles of the insoluble material are statistically normally distributed with mean x<0.8 .mu.m. Such overlays are produced with the temperature of the substrate maintained below 150.degree. C. during the sputtering process. Coating rates of >0.2 .mu.m [of layer thickness] per minute may be used informing such overlays.

Abstract: This invention relates to a mine prop. The prop consists of a timber pole which is cut adjacent one of its ends and over a portion of its length to provide an axially positioned core of reduced cross-section relatively to the uncut portion of the pole, timber on the outside of the cut and at least one hoop of yieldable material surrounding the pole over the core and the timer on the outside of it to restrain expansion of the cone and outer timber in a direction transverse to the pole axis when the prop is reduced in length under a compressive load in its axial direction.

Abstract: With a frequency-agile pulsed doppler radar with high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) in the unambiguous velocity region, in order to measure the range of a target the complex time signal derived from the echo signals of a coherent processing interval (CPI) is transformed into the frequency domain, the transformed spectrum is multiplied by a bandpass function with a mean frequency coinciding with the doppler frequency of the target, and the product is transformed back into a time signal. The real envelope of this re-transformed time signal displays a definite leading edge and a steady state region, from which the echo travel time can be estimated. Particular advantages may be derived for the pulsed doppler radar set from a plurality of frequency agile transmitter/receivers operated at the same time at different frequencies, and whose frequency switching times are time-staggered.

Abstract: This invention relates to a plant and arrangement and method for the low temperature carbonization of waste material with low-temperature carbonization device and a secondary incineration chamber. The heating system of the low-temperature carbonization device is substantially corrosion-free and gases hazardous to the environment are transformed into gases with a lower level of hazardous matter in a simple manner by directing the heating gas of the low-temperature carbonization device into a closed loop cycle through a low temperature carbonization device and into a heat exchanger of a secondary incineration device. The heat exchanger is equipped with a lining which insures a temperature of the burner gases in the heat exchanger of 1200.degree. C. or more for a period of dwell of 1 to 5 sec.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coupling for fire hoses, wherein the fire hose is provided with a built-in communication cable. An inner cylinder is provided which is substantially identical for either the male or female unit. The inner cylinder includes a base end part fitted with a fire hose with a built-in communication cable. An annular sealing material is provided for insulating and water-proofing an opening end face of the inner cylinder, and provided with an annular conductor connected to the communication cable. Abstract: This invention relates to a discriminating type flaw detector for detecting the types, sizes and locations of flaws existing in a light-transmitting plate material with high accuracy and high speed. A light-spot scanner (11) repeatedly scans a light-transmitting plate material with a light spot in the direction normal to the travelling direction of the light-transmitting plate material. When the light spot falls on a flaw in the light-transmitting plate material, the conditions of transmitted light, transmitted and diffused light, reflected light and reflected and diffused light change. These changes are detected by light receptors (12), converted into electrical signals in photoelectric converters (13), and processed into flaw data in a flaw data generating circuit (14). A flaw data acquisition circuit (15) collects flaw data, prepares a flaw pattern by combining the flaw data into flaw data blocks by flaw, and reads the addresses of the flaw data blocks as location data.
Abstract: An improved socket assembly for electric lamps with a usual conductive screwshell and a positive terminal connected with an insulating plate for receiving and holding a lamp base therein includes a combination of a wire mounting seat and a separate coupling member. The wire mounting seat is integrally formed with an upper open mount and a lower base being fixed on top of the screwshell. The upper open mount includes an open section in the middle, a plurality of coupling flanges on the top edge and a pair of piercing terminals disposed for connecting an electrical cord therewith. The separate coupling member includes a pair of sliding channels on the opposing sides and a sliding guide in the middle portion for being slidingly engaged with the upper open mount along the coupling flanges.
Abstract: The invention is concerned with switch devices and more particularly with devices to be fitted to piston and cylinder actuators to monitor the position of the piston therein. The device comprises a switch which has two connection or terminal contacts arranged at its axially opposite ends. These terminal contacts are respectively connected with signal conductors which may for instance be in the form of flexible cable wire. The switch is accommodated in a sleeve surrounding it. The two signal conductors are extended as far as a common axial terminal or connection end of the switch. For producing an electrical connection of the one signal conductor with the second terminal contact the current is caused to flow through the sleeve.
Abstract: The invention relates to a semiconductor body, which is composed of at least one semiconductor device, especially one impatt-diode, with integrated heat sink. The series of semiconductor layers, out of which the semiconductor device is produced, is made up of one first p.sup.+ -doped semiconductor layer, which has the function of an etching stop layer, of a contact layer and a buffer layer at the same time.
