  • Patent number: 4717252
Abstract: A method and system is used for detecting the presence of measuring the distance to and producing an image of, objects which, while being strongly absorbing or reflecting themselves, are hid from sight in a medium which is strongly dampening due to light dispersion, such as submersed submarines. The method provides, in addition to detecting the reflection from the surface of the object, a full acquisition of the variation of the backscatter of scanning laser pulses by the medium surrounding the object, with laser pulse transmitters operating with a much larger pulse duration, being usable for this purpose.

  • Patent number: 4715658
Abstract: A planing machine for the mining of minerals particularly a coal plane which has a planing chain guided on the filling side, and comprises two individual planes with plane bodies interconnected by an articulated connection, a sword plate of each plane body grips under a conveyor chute. The plane bodies are each supported on each plane against a conveyor chute sidewall on the coal face side by means of a horizontal, centrally mounted roller. Vertical bearing pins of the rollers form floating shafts for the plane bodies. Sword plates are individually connected to the planing chain and are not interconnected by otherwise used hinges. This makes for a good ability to negotiate curves and adaptability when traversing curves as well as troughs and saddles.

  • Patent number: 4715371
Abstract: A lung-controlled diaphram valve for respirator masks includes a device for creating a positive pressure in the interior of the mask, the device includes a tilting lever which by spring elements can be moved from a dead center position into a first pressure position exerting a force on the diaphragm or into a second disconnecting pressure position lifting the diaphragm off the valve lever. During the entire respiration cycle a positive pressure continuously prevails in the interior of the mask, it being prevented also that, by the movement of the diaphragm, the tilting lever can be brought into a stable disconnecting position. In addition, after use, an intentional disconnecting of the positive pressure is possible. To this end it is provided that the diaphragm has a tappet for the tilting lever which protrudes into the outer chamber of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4715370
Abstract: An overflow trap on a reservoir for liquid anesthetics with at least one inlet conduit for filling and an overflow conduit for overflow which both open at its side wall. The entering of anesthetic liquid from a feed tank through the inlet and the overflow of anesthetic due to shifts or rocking of the liquid level is prevented. For this purpose, the inlet conduit and the overflow conduit are slanted toward the bottom of the reservoir and they have openings close to a wall of the reservoir which is opposite to the inlet and the overflow openings of the conduits.

  • Patent number: 4715264
Abstract: The invention relates to piston and cylinder unit with a regulating valve for controlling the speed of the piston. The regulating valve has an open position in which it allows free passage of a fluid to the piston and a choking position in which it reduces the rate of such flow for influencing the speed of the piston. Furthermore there is at least one sensor responding to a given position of the piston and designed to change over the setting of the regulating valve. The sensor is an inductive, electrical or magnetic contactless sensor. The regulating valve has a setting unit electrically operated by the regulating valve so that the regulating valve is switched between its open and choked positions.

  • Patent number: 4713972
Abstract: In a pocket air velocity gauge, in order to expand the controlled, flow-dependent pointer deflection and the measuring scale to an angular range of at least 270.degree., the air flows through an inlet opening (22) on the back of a housing into a ring channel (12) extending around a pointer shaft (6) and over about 360.degree. and leaves it through a lateral outlet opening (13). In so doing, the air moves an air vane (37) fastened to the pointer shaft (6) counter to a restoring spring force in proportion to the velocity of the air. The ring channel (12) is provided with a cross section widening in the flow direction, and the pointer shaft (6) has assigned to it a second restoring spring which becomes active only after a certain angle deflection of the pointer.
