Abstract: Diborane is detected in air with high sensitivity (ppb range) and selectivity. The invention is thus suitable for the monitoring of work places and rooms, the emission of plants, etc. The detection is based on an aerosol ionization gas analysis. In addition to an amine, a reagent which does not react with amine is added to the air stream and reacts with the diborane to form a compound which forms aerosols with the amine. The aerosols obtained by this reaction constitute the main measuring effect. When using SO.sub.2 in concentration.gtoreq.3.5 ppm, disturbances due to the SO.sub.2 content of the air are eliminated.

Abstract: A circular knitting machine for hosiery includes an electromagnetic needle selection system. This selection system includes pivotal selector devices which act on resilient pushers and which are pushed indiscriminately or selectively against the resilient action of the pushers by radially acting cams. The system also includes groups of electromagnets which are placed annularly around the cylinder to exert a retaining effect on the selected cams when they are pushed against these by radially acting cams. In addition, electromagnets are placed between adjacent retaining electromagnets and they are of a size not exceeding the gap between the needles and the adjacent jacks. The jacks are excited selectively by means of a program control in order to exert the same retaining action as the retaining electromagnets and to effect abandonment or relinquishing of a selector which is moving.
Abstract: A bottom discharge hopper the body of which is elevated at a tip by ramps so that doors on the underside of the body, which are secured thereto by links and which are pivotally fixed to upstanding structure on the chassis, open outwardly and downwardly to permit material discharge from the body.
Abstract: A coal plane guiding device has plane guiding profiles with an upper and a lower chain channel for a planing chain and they are provided with intake gates disposed at both ends of the plane guidance system for the entry of the planing chain. For this purpose, the plane guiding end profiles or attached intake gates have, in the area of the chain channel, an intake spiral of helical nature with a hollow core for the planing chain shaped so that jammed chain links can return helically into their normal position in the course of entering the chain channel.

Abstract: Solid materials are efficiently calcined in a single column kiln by effecting said calcination through a plurality of vertically arranged zones, by means of a method comprising the steps of feeding said solid materials to a preheating zone wherein the materials are preheated countercurrently with combustion gases, allowing said preheated materials to fall to an air preheating zone to which primary air is fed in parallel flow with said falling preheated materials, allowing said materials to fall to a calcining zone to which fuel is admitted in parallel flow with said preheated air, allowing the thus calcined materials to fall to a cooling zone to which secondary cold air is fed countercurrently with said falling materials, exhausting the combustion gases produced in the calcining zone together with said secondary air which was preheated by the calcined materials, at a point between said calcining and cooling zones, and feeding said combustion gases and secondary air as a mixture to the preheating zone.
Abstract: To suppress rain echos in a terrain tracking radar with elevation monopulse devices, the signal in the difference channel is amplified by a predetermined factor. By comparing the level of the sum signal with the amplified difference signal, conclusion is reached about the presence of a ground echo or a rain echo. The factor should preferably be automatically adjustable according to the level in the sum channel.

Abstract: In a planetary transmission (1) with two gearsets (4, 5), with which are coordinated two clutches (13, 14) and a brake (10) to produce different transmission ratios, one of the gearsets (4) is provided with a third clutch (15) to create a fourth shift, by means of which clutch a hollow gear (7) and the first gearset (4) is connectible to the driven shaft (3) when the sun gear (6) is braked and a hollow gear (11) of the second gearset (5) is connected to the driveshaft (2).
Abstract: The phial or vial holding for a capillary tube is internally subdivided into an external chamber having annular cross-section and an internal chamber having circular cross-section. The outer wall of the chamber of annular cross-section carries a capillary hole and the inner tubular wall separating the two chambers has a hole in alignment with that of the outer wall and of larger diameter. In the hollow space of annular cross-section, a slight entrained flow through the hole of the inner wall and consequently a fast removal of the sample liquid which has passed through the capillary hole takes place. This is without backward flow in the direction of the capillary hole.
Abstract: A method of sewing the corners of a double seam, employing a two-needle machine the two needle rods of which each may be mutually independently engaged and disengaged. The method uses control means to arrive at the corner point of the inner seam, disengaging the internal needle rod, furthersewing to the corner point of the outer seam, stopping the sewing machine with the outer needle penetrating the workpiece, then rotating the workpiece, sewing the thus rotated outer seam, and engaging the inner needle rod.
Abstract: The invention relates to an abutment arrangement for limiting the stroke of a piston and cylinder actuator. The abutment arrangement comprises an integrated detector which may be in the form of a proximity feeler screwed into a guard housing. The abutment arrangement may be furthermore so designed that it prevents twisting of the piston rod in the cylinder.
Abstract: A method of interconnecting first and second material plies, each having one side coated with a thermoplastic material uses continuously rotatable pressing rollers and a heating gas. The marginal edge portion of an uncoated side of the first ply is folded back upon itself to form a pocket along its edge and after a strip having thermoplastic coating on each side is folded lengthwise, it is inserted into the pocket. The marginal edge portion of a thermoplastically coated face of the second ply is then positioned over the folded-over marginal edge portion of the first ply. Thermoplastic material between the folded-over portion of the first ply and the marginal portion of the second ply and between the folded portions of the strip are then heated so that they become plastic and they are pressed together to press the portions to be bonded together.
Abstract: A receptacle for the connection of gas sensors to a measurng gas chamber has a gas inlet including a feeding line connection for the measuring gas that is equipped with an operable shut-off element. A gas sensor holder is attached and held by a movable compression part that presses it in the direction toward the gas inlet as the gas sensor is attached to the measuring chamber. The feeding line for the measuring gas is connected into a measuring gas chamber and it is opened simultaneously and without additional manipulation and closed again after the removal of the gas sensor from the receptacle. To this end, the compression part is provided with an activating part for the shut-off element of the feeding line.
Abstract: The invention relates to a fluid power actuator with a cylinder barrel containing a piston and having end caps through one of which the piston rod extends. The end caps have tie rod openings for the tie rods clamping the end caps together onto the ends of the cylinder barrel. Instead of being used for a tie rod, one of the tie rod openings has a guide rod running through it parallel to the piston rod. The guide rod is joined to the piston rod and moves with it to prevent the piston rod from turning in operation of the actuator. Part of the guide rod is within the opening during the full stroke of the piston.
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a flat electronic screen (7), means (14) for displacing on the screen an image, stored in a data bank (9), of a given template or frame of spectacles, and means (8) for recording the displacements of the image on the screen (7), storing in memory the differences of its final coordinates with respect to a reference position constituted by the intersection of two orthogonal axes X, Y and calculating the resulting data and applying them directly to a grinder (11).
Abstract: A speed control for children's vehicles driven by a battery powered electric motor comprises, in combination: a first lever that can be moved between a first position controlling low speed power supply and a second position corresponding to a high speed, and a second lever that can be moved between a first and second position controlling forward and reverse vehicle movement respectively. Between the said two levers provision is made for rigid reciprocal connection means acting unidirectionally between the said first and second levers so as to take the first lever to its first position when the second lever is taken to its second position.

Abstract: In a gas generator for a vehicle protection system having an outer jacket and an inner housing attached thereto through an edge union and consisting of an ignition carrier and a thin-walled propellant vessel, which inner housing together with a primer and a propellant charge forms a hermetically encapsulated separate structural unit, an edge lip of the ignition carrier bent radially inward over the collar type enlarged propellant vessel edge is provided, which, when the inner housing is installed in the outer jacket, is pressed axially against a stepped abutment surface of the outer jacket and is thereby held in tight press-fit engagement on the collar-like vessel edge. Due to this the gas generator has, in terms of manufacture, a very simple construction in the region of the ignition carrier attachment to the propellant vessel but yet is highly burstproof.

Abstract: The binder mechanism for loose-leaf binders or file folders comprises a flat, oblong support plate on which are disposed at a standardized mutual distance at least two binder yokes, each consisting of a fixed yoke rod and pivotable yoke part, which is provided with a crank arm. The pivotable yoke parts are operable jointly because they are interconnected by a coupling rod disposed in the support plate. The support plate is made of plastic and has a cavity which is open at its underside and in which the crank arms and the coupling rod are accommodated. The privotable yoke parts are mounted in mounting bushings integrally molded to the likewise plastic crank arms mounted in hollow cylindrical bearing lugs or bearing holes of the support plate. The coupling rod and/or at least one of the crank arms are associated with a releasable detent or locking device which arrests the movable yoke parts jointly in their pivoted position forming the yoke shape.
