Abstract: The invention relates to a fluid power actuator with a cylinder, a piston and a piston rod whose motion is controlled by a positioning device which halts it in selected settings. The positioning device has a row of depressions, for example gaps between the teeth of a rack, running parallel to the piston rod. A positioning plunger moves into a selected depression to lock the rod. A shutter with at least one opening therein covers the row of depressions and is adjustably affixed thereto so as to allow adjustment of the position at which the control plunger aligns with the shutter opening and slips into the selected uncovered depression to stop and lock the piston and rod.

Abstract: An apparatus for dry cooling red-hot coke having an antechamber with a small discharge leading to a vertically elongated cooling chamber which is of larger dimension than the discharge and with both the cooling chamber and the antechamber having fluid cooling tubes in one or more walls and the ceiling thereof and also having a cooling tube bank in the shape of truncated pyramid comprising trapezoidal walls diverging downwardly from the discharge of the antechamber into the cooling chamber.

Abstract: A tripping mechanism is disclosed for the conversion of automatic rifles of the so-called closed-bolt type to rifles of the open-bolt type. The components of the mechanism are premounted within a box-like support which is readily insertable in the trip box of a conventional automatic rifle. The mechanism includes a trigger, a trip block for arresting the bolt carriage in the open, armed position, a connecting rod attached to and displaceable with the trigger and cooperating with the trip block during the disengagement of the bolt carriage from its blocked position, a safety bolt operating also as selector of the firing mode by cooperating with a lever, a lever for engaging the trigger during the automatic, continuous firing mode, and, finally, a safety block for arresting the bolt carriage in the event of accidental disengagement from the trip block.

Abstract: A vehicle with three wheels includes a single rear driven wheel and two front steerable wheels. The front wheels are supported by cross members in a parallelogram mechanism carried by the frame of the vehicle. A platform is connected to the frame and extends rearwardly of the cross members on both sides of the lower cross member. A U-shaped center stand is pivotally connected to the platform an axis extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The center stand in its deployed supporting position also engages the vehicle frame for keeping the vehicle upright.

Abstract: A knitted garment, such as tights, is made using circular knitting machine for simultaneously making several pairs of the garment, with two tubular legs and a body portion having a front and a back. The machine comprises a movable unit carrying a cylinder with a circle of cylinder needles and a plate carrying an adjacent circle of plate needles. The movable unit moves with alternating rotary movement relative to several thread guides disposed around the circles of needles. In order to make several garments simultaneously, the circles are divided into as many arcuate groups of needles as there are garments. Each arcuate group is divided into two equal sub-groups separated by a middle group. The needles of each group are automatically brought into operation in a sequence to knit the toes and legs (on the subgroups), then the crotch (using the middle group as well), then the body (still using two threads, one for the left-hand and one for the linked right-hand side).

Abstract: In order to activate, through a fine adjustment, the retention element (16) of an attachment for a partial, removable, dental prosthesis made up of two coulisses (1, 51), one of which being incorporated in the prosthesis (P) and the other (51) secured to a pillar tooth (D) there are utilized: a horizontal pivot (14) mounted in a sheath (2) and carrying, at one end, a retaining small head (16) and, at the other end, a bevel gear (5); and a cylindrical body (4') with vertical axis, mounted in a box (3) and carrying a bevel gear (4) which is in meshing engagement with the other hand gear (5). The base of the body (4') is provided with an operative groove (12) surfacing in the alveolar saddle (5) of the prosthesis (P). The rotation of the element (4') causes the displacement, along the pivot (14), of a plate (19) which compresses a counteracting spring (18) whose tensioning determines the retaining force of the attachment.

The inner runner and outer runner are designed so that two cages are formed that are essentially square or rectangular in dimension. In these cages are placed rolls that are positioned alternately to brace against two in each case opposing surfaces of the four total track surfaces existing.

Abstract: A scroll type fluid machine comprising a pair of mutually engaged scroll members each including a side plate and a spiral lap uprightly disposed on an inside surface of the side plate; when the scroll members are relatively revolved in solar motion relationship, a fluid volume in sealed chambers defined by the pair of engaged scroll members being varied, so that a pressure of the fluid in the sealed chambers is thereby varied in order to discharge a gas therefrom, characterized by constituting so that stress may not concentrate at stress concentration portions of the scroll members, i.e.

Abstract: A control for use by a patient who is connected with a respirator comprises a valve housing which has an interior valve chamber with a gas inlet extending into the chamber and terminating at an annular valve seat which is closable by a diaphragm. A gas outlet is also connected into the valve chamber. The valve housing also has a control chamber in the opposite side of the diaphragm from the valve chamber and an inhaling gas supply connection extends into the control chamber. In addition a gas take-off conduit connectable to the patient is connected into the control chamber. The gas take-off is provided with an orifice plate which defines a reduced area in the take-off so that during use by the patient during inhaling a pressure lower or higher than the pressure in the valve chamber is produced in the control chamber and opening or closing of the diaphragm end valve is effected to permit or prevent exhaled gas to pass through the gas inlet connection to the valve chamber and then to the gas outlet.

Abstract: A travelling hopper belt car has a feed chute and a throw-off conveyor belt that can pivot in a vertical plane around a horizontal axis in the area of the feed chute. The side walls of the feed chute are designed in two parts with the upper side section in each case foldable down around a horizontal axis at least to the height of the axis.

Abstract: A device to produce material webs of thermoplastic plastics, independently of the thickness at least between 100 .mu.m and 12 mm includes a single apparatus comprising cooled calender rolls mounted on a respective bottom frame and a top frame. The top frame is adjustable relative to the bottom frame between two operating positions. Of a feed roll pair, preferably directly following a sheet die, one of two feed rolls is arranged in the bottom frame and the other in the top frame. Thereby, in one operating position, the upper feed roll, and in the other operating position a smoothing ledge is associated with the feed roll of the bottom frame. The smoothing ledge is provided at the top frame and preferably has an air outlet nozzle. The top frame is preferably arranged with a slide which is displaceable in a slideway of the bottom frame.

Abstract: The helical guide apparatus includes a main spindle, a male pattern, a first female pattern and a second female pattern which are operatively associated with one another. As the main spindle adapted to reciprocably move in the axial direction and rotate in the circumferential direction is reciprocably driven in the axial direction by first reciprocable driving means, it carries out reciprocable rotational movement in accordance with a lead which is determined by a combination of the first helical projection on the male pattern and the first helical recess on the first female pattern.

Abstract: A sewing machine is equipped with a needle thread tensioning device which has two gripping discs mounted on a pin. The gripping discs are connected via a spring mechanism with two adjusting members on the same axis capable of movement relative to one another, of which at least one is mounted on a threaded section of the pin. In addition, the tensioning device has a mechanism for occasional suspension of the effect of the spring. With the tensioning device, in spite of the common mounting of both the adjusting members on the same pin, two tensions of varying degrees, a main tension and an auxiliary tension, can be adjusted and transmitted to the needle thread independently of one another and quickly switched one for the other. For this purpose, the two adjusting members are designed as inner and outer parts and separated from one another by a stationary support placed between the inner and the outer part.

Abstract: A binding mechanism for the binding of perforated papers, has at least two elastically flexible tangs (5,6). These tangs (5,6) are arranged standing upright on the top side of a flat support strip (1). Their ends are releaseably connected with extension pieces (9,10). In order that the tangs (5,6) with their extension pieces (9,10) can be formed into ring arcs whose size is adaptable between a minimum and a maximum, to the bound paper stack height, the support strip (1) made of plastic has passages (7,8) into which the extension pieces (9,10) can be releaseably and lockingly inserted to different depths. The extension pieces (9,10) consist of separate, likewise flexible, rod or tongue like elements which have at least the same or a greater length than the tangs (5,6). The passages may be provided at their insertion-side ends with a detention edge or with a lock tooth, and the extension pieces with a lock tooth system.

Abstract: The device is applied to the wheel of a motor vehicle and includes a component that is sensitive to the pressure inside the tire and has a conductive, sliding element. When this element reaches the extreme limits of its travel it closes an electrical contact and activates a radio transmitter whose signals, picked up by a receiver located in the passenger compartment, activate a visual and/or acoustic alarm.

Abstract: Disclosed is a control device for controlling the firing modes of portable, automatic weapons, the components of which are mounted on a support box that is insertable into and removable from, as a unit, the tripping box of the weapon. In the tripping box there is enclosed the tripping mechanism for firing the weapon either singly or in an uncontrolled rapid mode. Between the tripping mechanism and the control for the fire mode, there is interposed a safety shaft which functions also as selector for the desired fire mode, so that by selecting the proper mode, it is possible to have a single shots mode, an uncontrolled rapid fire mode or a controlled rapid fire mode.

Abstract: An anesthetic vaporizer with a vaporizer chamber into which leads a gas inlet channel for fresh gas and which is connected via an outlet channel with a proportioning unit containing setting means for the anesthetic concentration to be released to the fresh gas is to be improved in such a way that exchanging the various anesthetics is made possible to only a single proportioning unit. The vaporizer chamber is a self-enclosed housing part to be coupled to the proportioning unit via connectors and the setting means are adjustable to the release of the respective anesthetic used.

Abstract: An arrangement for monitoring the shuttle thread reserve in a sewing machine with a lockstitch revolving shuttle and with a light-emitting diode, which sends a beam of light through openings in the bobbin housing and in the bobbin to a photodetector which triggers a switching pulse for an actuating device. To obtain maximum utilization of the residual thread, the photodetector is used at the same time as a pulse generator for a counter which controls the actuating device. The counter can be connected to a switch-off device of a drive motor for the sewing machine.

Abstract: A connecting elevator for serving, handling or working units which operate on mine benches of different level, comprises a supporting structure carrying a hoisting equipment and being supported, at least at its upper end for travelling on a bench, with the hoisting equipment comprising hoisting vessels running on rails and suspended from ropes whose winches are mounted on the upper end of the supporting structure.
