Abstract: A method of desulfurizing coke oven gas comprises directing the coke oven gases upwardly and in a hydrogen sulfide scrubber tower, washing the coke oven gases in a cyclic ammonia washing including admixing sulfur compounds containing waste gases and without cooling with ammonia in a degasifying unit which is supplied with ammonia containing water which is advantageously obtained from a tar separator and using the heat content of the waste gases to expel the ammonia from the water, and directing the waste gases laden with the expelled ammonia into the tower. The waste gases advantageously come from a Claus plant process and they are laden with ammonia and they are advantageously directed into the upper portion of the scrubber tower. Ammonia water is circulated in an ammonia circuit from an outlet which is advantageously located in the upper portion of the tower to an inlet which connects to the tower above the outlet.
Abstract: A freight car is constructed with an undercarriage having a flat cargo floor and with an upright fixed end wall at each end of the floor. A gantry in the form of an arch extends upwardly from the floor substantially centrally between the end walls and a hood support rail extends between the fixed end walls on each side of the floor. The space above the floor is covered by a hood which is of a length to extend between the gantry and one end wall and which includes a roof portion which overlies the gantry and the one end wall and side wall portions which extend downwardly from each side of the roof. The side wall portions carry rollers or casters which are engageable with the rail for supporting the hood for movement along the rail. The hood may be moved when it is in an open position along the rail for example to completely uncover the space between the gantry and one end wall.

An actuator shaft for each bar carries a respective actuator crank which in turn is connected through a link of relatively short length to the upper ends of the needle bars by a pivotal connection.
Abstract: A dye composition prepared by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer in the presence of a quinoneimine dye and an azo initiator in amounts expressed by x.gtoreq.5 and y.gtoreq.0.33x.sup.1.2 wherein x is the amount of the quinoneimine dye in % by weight based on the unsaturated monomer, and y is the amount of the azo initiator in % by weight based on the unsaturated monomer. The composition is useful for preparing toners for developing electrostatic images because of its outstanding charge control effect and also for preparing electrostatic coating powder compositions.
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit in which layers such as an field isolation region, a gate electrode, interlayer insulating films and interconnection lines are formed by the combined use of a lift-off process and an ECR plasma deposition process. According to the present invention, even if vertical dimensions of patterns of the respective layers are large as compared with their lateral dimensions, the upper surfaces of the respective layers can be planarized, permitting the fabrication of an LSI of high packing density, high operating speed and high reliability which is free from shorting and breakage of the interconnection lines.

Abstract: An arrangement for a rotary cylindrical piston-type slide valve for pneumatic jigging machines includes a housing of symmetrical design including a double rotary piston slide valve portion and a rotary slide valve single portion mounted in a symmetrical arrangement provided for each of the washing compartments.
Abstract: An outdoor recreational area cover comprises a pylon support with a plurality of circular segment shaped cover members which have inner apices which are pivotally supported on the pylon support. All the supports are connected to the cover members at a spaced location from the pylon and they are arranged to roll over tracks or similar supports so that the cover members may be rotated around the pylon. By rotation, the cover members may be arranged so that they are foldable, one over the other, or extended fanlike to cover any desired recreational area such as a swimming pool. The segments are advantageously supported by generally vertical portions which extend downwardly from their outer ends and carry the rollers. The construction is such that the swimming pool or other area may advantageously be used when the cover members are arranged to overlie it.
Abstract: A sliding caliper comprises a scale having a front end defining a measuring edge, a slide movable over the scale and having a readout display and a measuring tip depending from said scale and having an axis of symmetry passing through the measuring edge.
Abstract: An improved method for the automatic packing of articles in which bag sections are successively made of tubular plastics bag material which is intermittently conveyed. Goods are charged into a bag section formed at the leading end of the bag material. Thereafter the goods-charged bag section is heat-sealed at an opening portion thereof and separated from a subsequent bag section of the bag material. In accordance with the invention, before charging the bag section with goods, a piece of reinforcing sheet is inserted in and secured to the foremost bag section to form a reinforced handle portion having an opening for suspension of the finished bag.
Abstract: The spindle can be rotated by way of a set wheel, and thus displaced within the spindle guide. At the end of this displacement, the spindle butts against one of the set screws of a turret stop provided on the rest plate. The spindle can be locked to the respective set screw by way of a swing extension. The spindle may be hollow to pass therethrough a tool and finely adjust the set screw already locked to the spindle.

Abstract: A massager has a device body, a drive unit housed in the device body, a connecting arm driven by the drive unit, an actuator operating in conjunction with the connecting arm, a space guide, an energy storage part consisting of compression springs for storing energy when compressed by the connecting arm, an energy releasing mechanism for rapidly releasing the stored energy, and an adjusting mechanism for adjusting the energy stored in the compression springs, the actuator being adapted to pat the skin surface plural pieces of the compression springs are connected in series so as to make the patting intensity adjustable discontinuously and to make the overall dimensions smaller. Also, a mechanism for feeding warm air onto the skin surface being patted as necessary in the aforementioned massager is disclosed.
Abstract: A connection block or adapter for joining up pneumatic components is made with an exhaust muffler to let off air from components into the outside atmosphere. The muffler is composed of a chamber inside the connection block and has a porous wall. The wall may be made in one piece with the connection block or bonded to it as a separate part. Preferred materials are load bearing foam resin for the connection block and metal frit for the wall of the muffler.
Abstract: A beauty treatment device having a device body, a drive unit provided in the device body and a patter driven by the drive unit wherein the patter is composed of a freely rotating roller; and freely rotating space guide wheels for maintaining the range of patting motion of the roller by depressing an object being patted, and roller supports disposed on an axis coinciding with the center of the space guide wheels for supporting the shaft of the roller off-center with respect to the space guide wheels, so that the patter pats the object being patted.
Abstract: An apparatus for loading and unloading a multiopening press for manufacturing fibreboard comprises a first endless conveyor movable through an upper opening of a press having upper and lower openings with an intermediate plate therebetween. The first endless conveyor is formed of a plurality of conveyor sections which are spaced along the first conveyor and connected together by at least one drive member. A second endless conveyor is movable through the lower opening of the press. The first and second conveyors move along first and second feed paths through the upper and lower opening of the press respectively. The first conveyor however intersects the second feed path with the at least one drive member positioned on the first conveyor to permit passage of a mat for making a fibreboard on the second feed path to the second conveyor when each of the conveyor sections is spaced away from a location of intersection of the first conveyor and the second feed path.
Abstract: A tracheal tube (1) for giving artificial respiration to a patient comprises a balloon cuff (7) for sealing. The respiration gas is blown in by producing excess pressure, and taken off by producing underpressure, in a respiration tube (11) having a relatively small diameter. To monitor the intratracheal pressure in the closed respiratory system, a pressure measuring cannula (14) is provided, so that a respiration within the desired intratracheal pressure range can be ensured, through an electronic control device (29), by a respirator (13) operating to blow in an exhaust respiratory gas.
