  • Patent number: 4563960
Abstract: A sewing machine with a drive for a work clamp comprises two slides movable relative to each other, one carrying the work clamp and the other carrying two tail wheels and an endless belt trained thereabout. Two stepping motors which can selectively be run in the same or in opposite directions are engaged each with a respective one of the belt strands, so that with the motors running in opposite directions, the two slides move in the lengthwise direction, while with a run in the same directions, only the slide directly carrying the work clamp is moved, namely transversely. In another embodiment, the slide directly carrying the work clamp is non-rotatably connected to one of the tail wheels.

  • Patent number: 4564021
Abstract: A tested person blows into an alcohol-breath measuring device through the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece must be kept under hygienic conditions and must be disposable, thus designed for single use by a tested person. The mouthpiece is an integral part injection molded of polypropylene, having a mouth portion, and a portion connecting to the measuring device and extending through the bottom of the mouth portion into the interior thereof. The tested person takes the mouthpiece between his lips and exhales through the connecting portion into the device. A limiting flange on the outside of the mouth portion limits the penetration thereof in the mouth and keeps saliva from the surface intended for holding. The mouthpiece may accommodate a check valve. A valve insert received in the mouth portion holds a valve plate which under the blow, elastically disengages from apertures in the bottom of the insert and applies against these apertures again as soon as the blowing ceases or the tested person inhales.

  • Patent number: 4564176
Abstract: A hydraulic dashpot has a high pressure space and a low pressure space into which the hydraulic fluid is forced through a spring loaded and adjustable spill valve when the dashpot is acted upon by a blow to be damped. The low pressure space is divided up into two sections on the two sides of the high pressure space and axially in line with it. The spill valve is fixed in the cylinder of the dashpot rather than being mounted on or in the piston. There is a pipe joining the two sections of the low pressure space together and running through the high pressure space and through the spill valve. The check valve for letting the piston be returned into its starting position is formed by a ring on the piston.

  • Patent number: 4563823
Abstract: In a multi-coordinate measuring machine, a contact pin is movable relative to an upper part of a measuring head, in the X, Y and Z directions. The contact pin must be mounted so as to be displaceable from its zero position, and blockable in position in each of these directions. To simplify the construction, the mechanism for displacing and blocking the movements of the pin are combined in the form of an electrodynamic transducer for each of the three directions. The transducer is formed of a pair of aligned coils which are each associated with a permanent magnet.

A return and a cable channel is alongside the load strand channel, with the flexible supply lines being stored at the ends of the longwall towed along by a mining machine through the cable channel. The housing is secured to the conveyor structure and open at one side, and an idle roller is mounted in the housing in the cable channel. The supply lines are supported on the idle rollers. The mining machine is moved by a traction element and the supply lines bear against the traction element at the open side of the cable channel.

  • Patent number: 4562837
Abstract: An air escape filter apparatus for emergency use by a person comprises a filter which is contained within a filter housing which is accommodated within a half mask portion of a breathing mask which is adapted to be engaged over the nose and mouth of a person. The half mask portion includes a sleeve portion having a guide ring which engages over the filter housing and is shiftable along the filter housing while remaining in holding engagement therewith. The filter housing is of a size so that it is retainable within the half mask portion in a standby condition at which time it is substantially coextensive in length with the half mask portion so that the two elements are accommodated within a very small space. The filter is extensible at the end of the sleeve portion to free the interior of the half mask for engagement over the wearer's face in a ready condition.

  • Patent number: 4561369
Abstract: A sewn pattern arrangement is produced by a zig zag sewing machine in a workpiece, within the range of a modular pattern length and width. Individual elementary patterns are sewn which are formed by several stitches and are preferably of the cross-stitch type and extend each only over a fraction of the modular pattern width. This makes it possible to sew elementary patterns at various locations within the provided range of widths, so that a variety of optically impressive designs may be produced by sewing pattern rows in a desired configuration. The respective final stitch of a pattern element forms the first stitch of the subsequent one, so that jump stitches between elementary patterns are avoided. Large-area patterns may be obtained by grouping rows of pattern elements side by side.

  • Patent number: 4561368
Abstract: A thread changing mechanism for sewing machines includes a magazine in which a plurality of needle holders is received, to be positively coupled to the sewing machine needle bar by a vertical motion of the magazine. Upon effecting a coupling, the magazine is retracted into a starting position remote from the needle bar, so that the needle bar with the needle holder can unobstructedly move during the sewing operation. The thread changing mechanism is mounted on a sewing machine as an attachment later, without particular adjustments. When the needle holders are held in the magazine the thread is engaged with each needle and held out of the way of the operating needle thread.
