Abstract: A procedure is provided wherein a serving general packet radio service (GPRS) support node (SGSN) receives a request for an access point name (APN) the SGSN making a determination if the requested packet data protocol (PDP) and APN are the same as subscribed information. In the event that the requested and subscribed PDP type and the requested and subscribed APN are not the same, the SGSN advises that the APN requested is not authorized and agreement to terms and conditions and the provision of credit (or debit) card information must be provided to obtain the requested APN.
Abstract: An infant swing comprising a seat, at least one upwardly extending arm secured to the seat, and a pivot housing having an axle for rotating the at least one upwardly extending arm. A support frame supports the pivot housing and enables the seat to rotate freely about the pivot housing. A drive assembly housed within the pivot housing includes the axle which is rotatably mounted in the pivot housing and coupled to the upwardly extending arm, an abutting member fixedly secured to the axle, at least one drive member pivotally mounted on the axle, and a motor driving a circular gear. A rod eccentrically mounted on the gear drives a first portion of the drive member, which in turn causes a second portion of the drive member to drive the abutting member to rotate the axle and upwardly extending arm.

Abstract: A drive connection with a camshaft adjuster for an internal combustion engine is provided. A free end of the camshaft adjuster is coupled with an accessory unit, especially a vacuum pump, in a camshaft adjuster with a superposition drive and an electrical control unit. The electrical control unit (7) can be constructed as a hollow unit, through which a drive shaft of the accessory unit is passed.
Abstract: A base station receives a selected preamble out of a set of preambles in a slot out of a plurality of slots divided by time of a common packet channel. The common packet channel uses a predetermined set of codes. A combined collision signal and channel indicator is transmitted. The channel indicator indicates a selected code out of the predetermined set of codes. The channel indicator is associated with the selected preamble. The combined collision signal and channel indicator distinguishes between codes using an inversion. The base station communicates using the selected code.
Abstract: A noise reduction system comprises an inputting unit inputting image data, and a noise reduction unit performing a process for removing noise of the image data input by the inputting unit. The noise reduction unit includes a representative value calculating unit calculating a representative value from the level values of a plurality of pixels in a predetermined direction, which include an observed pixel of the input image data, a representative value selecting unit selecting one representative value according to a predetermined condition from among a plurality of representative values which are calculated by the representative value calculating unit and correspond to a plurality of directions, and a replacing unit replacing the level value of the observed pixel with the representative value selected by the representative value selecting unit.
Abstract: A variable valve drive for changing control timing of cam-actuated gas-exchange valves of an internal combustion engine is provided, with a tappet (6a, 6b, 6c), which, with convex cam engaging contour (5), engages a cam (4a, 4b, 4c) of a camshaft (3a, 3b, 3c) and which is guided so that it can move in the longitudinal direction in a rotatable tappet guide (7a, 7b, 7c), whose rotational angle (9) is adjustable for changing the control timing. In this way, the tappet guide (7a, 7b, 7c) can rotate about a rotational axis (8) parallel to a longitudinal axis (2) of the camshaft (3a, 3b, 3c).
Abstract: A method for adjustment of the relative angle of rotation between a camshaft and a crankshaft in an internal combustion engine through an electromechanical phase adjuster is provided. The invention provides a rapid and precise adjustment behavior. To that end, a deviation of the adjustment speed (??) between a desired adjustment speed (?SOLL) and an actual adjustment speed (?IST) is calculated from at least one measurement parameter in a second control loop cascaded below the first control loop. An output parameter is calculated dependent on the deviation of the adjustment speed (??) through an adjustment speed adjuster (26) cascaded below the angle of rotation adjuster (23), with the output parameter being used to adjust the angle of rotation (?) using an electromechanical actuator (14). The relative angle of rotation can be rapidly and precisely adjusted by adjusting the adjustment speed. A phase adjuster for controlling the relative angle of rotation is also provided.

Abstract: In a radio network controller (RNC), a covariant matrix and a database are updated. The RNC then detects that a first base station's time-error-variance exceeds a predetermined threshold. In response, the RNC signals to a user-equipment (UE) to measure a time difference of arrival (TDOA) between signals transmitted from the first base station and a reference base station. The UE measures the requested TDOA between the designated base stations and reports the measurement results back to the RNC. The RNC then compares the measured TDOA with a TDOA value stored in the database. Based on the comparison, the RNC signals to the first base station to adjust its time base.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically adjusting the impedance between a transmitter's power amplifier (PA) and antenna to efficiently transfer power from the PA to the antenna. The impedance between the PA and the antenna is adjusted based on power level measurements and/or PA direct current (DC) consumption measurements, depending on whether the PA is a linear PA or a switch-mode PA. In another embodiment, a hybrid PA including a first stage linear PA and a second stage switch-mode PA is implemented in a transmitter. The hybrid PA selectively connects the output of the first stage linear PA to one of the input of the second stage switch-mode PA and the output of the hybrid PA, depending on the output power level of the first stage linear PA, the output power level of the hybrid PA, or a requirement indicated by a transmit power control (TPC) command.

Abstract: A method and communication system for routing calls. The system includes at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), at least one wireless base station, a land-line communication unit, and a land-line base unit. A call placed by the land-line communication unit is routed to the wireless base station via the WTRU when a database in the WTRU indicates that it is less costly than routing the call via the land-line base unit. Alternatively, a call placed by the WTRU is routed to the land-line base station when the database indicates that it is less costly than routing the call via the wireless base station. The database stores wireless phone data, land-line data and preferred usage data provided by a user of the WTRU.
Abstract: A method for implementing a smart antenna in establishing association between a station (STA) and an access point (AP) in a wireless local area network begins by transmitting a beacon frame by the AP on one antenna beam. The beacon frame is received at the STA, which measures the signal quality of the beacon frame. The AP switches to a different antenna beam and repeats the method until the beacon frame has been transmitted on all antenna beams. The STA associates to the AP that transmits the beacon frame with the highest signal quality on one of its antenna beams. A similar method may be used in which the STA sends a probe request frame to the AP, which then responds with probe response frames sent on multiple antenna beams.

Abstract: A medium access control (MAC) architecture determines transmission latency and block error rate requirements for a plurality of data flows, each data flow having an associated priority and each data flow comprising a plurality of data blocks. The MAC architecture specifies a scheduling entity that determines when transmissions are serviced, and by which hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) entity. H-ARQ entities determine whether each prior block had been successfully transmitted and, if not, request retransmission of unsuccessfully transmitted data blocks. The scheduling of the data blocks takes into account whether or not the previously transmitted data blocks require retransmission. The MAC architecture allows the scheduling entity the ability to initiate new transmissions at any time and to reinitiate previously unsuccessful transmissions at any time.
