  • Patent number: 7332967
Abstract: A VGA is provided that is designed to reduce or even eliminate entirely variations in phase response/shift with changes in gain. Compensation is made for parasitic capacitances of elements in the VGA that would otherwise cause variation in phase with changes in gain. An additional capacitance is introduced to the VGA to compensate for the sources of the parasitic capacitance. The technique for introducing the additional capacitance depends on the source of the parasitic capacitance being treated. The additional capacitance is introduced to one or more of transistor amplifier circuits in the VGA, wherein each transistor amplifier circuit has a different gain and one of the transistor amplifier circuits is selected depending on the desired gain of the VGA. These compensation techniques equalize the phase response of the transistor amplifier circuits (each having a different gain) so that regardless of which transistor amplifier circuit is selected, the phase shift will be substantially the same.

  • Patent number: 7328612
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for detecting the type of physical exercise, in which method the accelerations caused by the exercise of a person are measured by an exercise type detector (10) in three dimensions and in which characteristics describing the acceleration, so-called membership degree functions, are calculated from the measurement results, by means of which characteristics the type of exercise is detected. In the method according to the invention, only an identifier indicating the type of exercise is saved in the memory of the exercise type detector, for which reason the memory capacity required in the device is small.

  • Patent number: 7323856
Abstract: A power efficient startup circuit for activating a bandgap reference circuit is disclosed. The startup circuit uses a voltage supply having a voltage level to initiate the flow of a startup current used to activate the bandgap reference circuit. When the bandgap reference circuit starts, the startup circuit slowly charges a capacitor using the voltage supply when the startup current is flowing. The startup circuit disables quiescent current when the bandgap reference circuit is activated and a voltage of the capacitor exceeds a value equal to the difference between the voltage of the voltage supply when powered on and a voltage threshold of a switching device which disables the quiescent current. The capacitor is discharged when the voltage supply is turned off.

  • Patent number: 7325159
Abstract: In a continuous data protection system having a primary volume and a secondary volume, a method for data recovery begins by selecting a snapshot of the primary volume to be recovered and a location on which the snapshot is to be loaded. A point in time (PIT) map is created for the selected snapshot, and the selected snapshot is loaded at the selected location. A data block from the PIT map is resolved to determine which block on the secondary volume is presented as being part of the snapshot. The snapshot is accessed via a host computer as if the snapshot was the primary volume at an earlier point in time, corresponding to the time of the selected snapshot.
