Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and system for optimization of channel estimation and synchronization in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) wireless communication system. In accordance with the present invention, all of the training sequences are simply constructed based on a basic code by cyclically shifting the basic code. The training sequences are transmitted from different antennas in parallel without performing inverse fast Fourier transform. As a result, there is no peak-to-average ratio problem. Channel estimation is performed in each receiver based on the samples before fast Fourier transform and the maximum-likelihood estimate of channel response in time domain is then mapped into the frequency domain. The channel estimation is not only very simple in implementation, but also very efficient in computation.

Abstract: A microendoscope with a distal probe tip which has, in particular, a diameter of up to approximately 1 mm is provided and inside of which an optical subassembly at least provided with a micro-objective and with an image transmitting element is accommodated. An image transmitting system is connected to the optical subassembly. An image-enlarging coupling element is provided between the optical subassembly of the probe tip and the image transmitting system connected thereto. The image transmitting system connected to the coupling element has a larger active diameter than the optical subassembly that is provided with the distal objective. As a result, the distal probe tip on a handgrip has the necessary small working diameter over the entire working length, and at the beginning or inside the handgrip, the optical coupling element is coupled to an image guide or to an image transmitting system or the like having a higher pixel count and thus a larger active diameter and, therefore, a larger outside diameter.

Abstract: Apparatus having a file generator which assigns a file name for information to be recorded so that the information is formatted as a file for storage in a recording medium. The file generator automatically assigns the file name which has a part thereof which is a serial number stored and managed in the recording medium and associated with the file. The file generator, in one embodiment, increments the last stored file number and stores it in readiness for use to identify the next file to be created. The file generator also creates characters forming an arbitrary position of the file name. The file generator also provides a character which identifies the apparatus with the file number. The arbitrary characters, the character which identifies the apparatus and the serial number are combined to form the file name.

Abstract: At least one wireless communication is received and sampled to produce samples. A channel response is estimated corresponding to the at least one wireless communication. An initial channel correlation matrix is produced based on the received samples and the channel response. The initial channel correlation matrix is factorized to produce a Cholesky factor. Forward substitution is performed using the Cholesky factor and received samples to produce initial values for the at least one wireless communication. The Cholesky factor is updated using additional channel correlation matrix values, producing an updated Cholesky factor. Subsequent values for the at least one wireless communication are produced using the updated Cholesky factor.

Abstract: The invention relates to establishing a wireless packet session between at least two users. At least one of the users is a wireless user. A first of the at least two users sends a reservation setup protocol (RSVP) PATH message to a second user of the two users. The RSVP PATH message includes information for reserving resources for transmissions from only the first user to the second user; or from the first user to the second user and the second user to the first user, or only for transmissions from the second user to the first user. In response to receiving the RSVP PATH message, the second user transmits a RSVP reservation (RESV) message to the first user. Transmissions occur using the reserved resources.

Abstract: Data is transmitted over a particular channel from a transmitter to a plurality of receivers. The particular channel is received at the plurality of receivers. Each of the receivers sends power control information to the transmitter based on a measured reception quality and the reception quality requirements of each receiver. The transmitter uses the power control information from each receiver and adjusts a transmission power level of the particular channel so that if any receiver requires an increase in the transmission power level to meet that receiver quality requirement, the transmission power level is increased and if all receivers exceed their quality requirement, the transmission power level is decreased.
Abstract: A transesterification process of methyl acetate is provided. The process comprises: (a) performing a first reactive distillation of a methyl acetate solution and a first alcohol to generate a first ester and a first mixture; (b) performing a first distillation of a first part of the first mixture to generate a second mixture; and (c) performing a second reactive distillation of a first part of the second mixture and a second alcohol to generate a second ester; wherein the respective one of the first and second alcohols is a limiting reagent. The transesterification process provided in the present invention could highly reduce the investing production cost of the transesterification of the by-product, methyl acetate, in the conventional polyvinyl alcohol plants.
Abstract: A device for fastening an electrode in the pacemaker bed before the entry of the electrode into a vein is provided, and includes a sheath having two parts and, with a hose extending through their interior. The two parts and of the sheath are profiled at the contacting edges of a common separating point so that they are fixed in reference to one another in the rotational direction until a user pulls them apart beyond the axial extension of the profiling. In this pulled-apart position the parts of the sheath can be rotated in reference to one another under torsion of the hose and subsequently, due to the restoring force of the hose, will be again guided together axially, which reduces the interior cross-section of the hose and allows a form-fitting grasping the electrode extending therethrough.
Abstract: A process for ultrafiltration using a spiral wound membrane filter is disclosed where the pressure in the space between the filter element and the pressure vessel is higher than or equal to the pressure inside the filter element. Using these conditions the static force created by the pressure provides a high friction between different sheets in the spiral wound filter element, which efficient prevents unwinding or telescoping of the filter element. Using this configuration it is possible to perform the ultrafiltration using a higher differential pressure across the filter element than would otherwise have been possible which leads to a higher efficiency and a low energy consumption. Further an anti telescoping device (ATD) and a spiral wound filter element, which are particular suited for the disclosed process, are described.
