Abstract: An automatic warning signal system for a leading vehicle (e.g., an automobile, car, truck, tanker, van, bus, motor home, motorcycle, or other vehicles, etc., as well as trailers of all kinds in-tow, etc.) including a detector for detecting when a following vehicle comes within a target area too close to the rear of the leading vehicle, and a circuit for coupling a signal device and an energy source to cause the signal device to produce a warning signal which includes activating the brake light or lights of the leading vehicle without the actual application of the brakes to caution the driver of the following vehicle when the detector detects the following vehicle within the target area too close to the rear of the leading vehicle, causing the driver of the following vehicle to slow down and thus increase the distance between the two vehicles and prevent rear end collision in case of an emergency.
Abstract: A horseshoe cleaning tool and method for cleaning under a horseshoe shod to a horse's hoof. The tool includes a blade portion having a blade neck with proximal and distal ends, and the blade portion has a substantially thin and planar tip portion adjacent the blade neck distal end. The tip portion has left and right wing-type extensions each extending laterally outward within the plane of the tip portion and respectively having a left and a right pointed tip remote from the blade neck. The left and right wing-type extensions respectively form left and right notches of about 90 degrees adjacent the blade neck distal end, and the tip portion is substantially rounded intermediate the left and right pointed tips. The tool has a handle grip spaced from the plane of the tip portion, and a blade mounting segment extends upwardly and rearwardly from the blade neck's proximal end and joins to the handle grip.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cleaning a dental articulator of the type including a body member having a plurality of precisely spaced holes extending therethrough. The apparatus including a base; and a plurality of precisely spaced pins extending from the base for insertion into the plurality of precisely spaced holes in the body member of the dental articulator to clean any debris from the plurality of precisely spaced holes in the body member of the dental articulator. The pins of the apparatus have the same precise spacing as the precisely spaced holes extending through the body member of the articulator and being sized to be inserted into and through the precisely spaced holes extending through the body member of the articulator. The method includes the step of forcing the pins of the apparatus through the precisely spaced holes extending through the body member of the articulator.
Abstract: A drapery system comprising, in combination, an elongated track; a carrier slidably attached to the track, the carrier having a snap member; a connector including a body member, an arm member attached to the body member, and a snap member attached to the arm member thereof and removably secured to the snap member of the carrier; and a drapery panel including an upper end attached to the body member of the connector.
Abstract: Eyewear with earpieces supported from a wearer's ear with optional audio apparatus for use by the wearer, having a front frame browpiece portion including a front transparent panel that may be tinted and/or may be designed to correct vision impairments, being supported on a wearer's head by a nose bridge and by at least one earpiece or earplug that is received into the concha of the wearer's ear and/or into the ear canal. The earpiece or earplug is attached to a rear end of its respective temple of the eyewear and the respective temple for the earpiece or earplug is not supported over the wearer's ear. Preferably both temples are only supported by their respective rear earpiece or earplug. The earpieces of some embodiments sealingly and protectively plug the ear canal of the wearer. The eyewear may include an optional microphone, whether as a boom-mounted microphone or an ear microphone, and may include audio earpieces for reproducing sound from an audio signal source.

Abstract: Apparatus for the expansion and/or heat treatment of oleo resinous material of the type which includes a tubular housing having a rotatably driven screw for conveying material to be treated towards the outlet end of the tubular housing. An outlet discharge device is adjacent the outlet end of the housing for providing for the discharge of the material from the outlet end. The outlet discharge device includes a main ring attached to the housing at the outlet end. The head in the preferred embodiment has a plurality of teeth and depressions around the periphery of the head and the main ring also has a plurality of matching teeth and depressions in the inner circumference thereof. Alternatively, the peripheral face of the head and the inner circumference of main ring may be without depressions and teeth, but instead may respectively be in the form of a continuous face.
Abstract: An improved soccer goal of the type including a net and a frame for supporting the net. The frame includes a first vertical front post, a second vertical front post, a front bottom cross bar, a front top cross bar, a first horizontal side bar, a second horizontal side bar, a rear bottom cross bar, a first diagonal strut, and a second diagonal strut. The improvement includes an intermediate cross bar having a first end for attachment to the first diagonal strut and a second end for attachment to the second diagonal strut with the net attached to the intermediate cross bar to create a first back stop portion extending between the intermediate cross bar and the front top cross bar and a second back stop portion extending diagonally between the intermediate cross bar and the front bottom cross bar.
Abstract: A focal plane scanner having a front objective lens, a spatial window for selectively passing a portion of the image therethrough, and a CCD array for receiving the passed portion of the image. All embodiments have a common feature whereby the spatial window and CCD array are mounted for simultaneous relative reciprocating movement with respect to the front objective lens, and the spatial window is mounted within the focal plane of the front objective. In a first embodiment, the spatial window is a slit and the CCD array is one-dimensional, and successive rows of the image in the focal plane of the front objective lens are passed to the CCD array by an image relay lens interposed between the slit and the CCD array. In a second embodiment, the spatial window is a slit, the CCD array is two-dimensional, and a prism-grating-prism optical spectrometer is interposed between the slit and the CCD array so as to cause the scanned row to be split into a plurality of spectral separations onto the CCD array.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing structural integrity of a building material. Examples are given for testing the structural integrity of substrate behind synthetic stucco and stucco. The tester has an exposed elongated pointed tip that reciprocates within a casing that is electrically insulated from the pointed tip for safety. The pointed tip has a pointed end with an inclusive angle of sixty degrees. A spring forcibly opposes movement of the pointed tip into the casing, and a scale on the casing shows the maximum force exerted by the spring to the pointed tip. As the pointed tip is pushed through Exterior Insulation and Finish System ("EIFS") synthetic stucco to the substrate sheathing therebehind, an indicator shows the force applied by the pointed tip to the substrate sheathing.
Abstract: A mounting apparatus for mounting an accessory to a pickup truck having a chassis, and having a bed attached to the chassis. The mounting apparatus includes a frame assembly for receiving the accessory; and bed pad structure for attachment to the chassis of the truck and for selectively attaching the frame assembly to the chassis of the truck with a portion of the bed pad structure positioned within the bed of the truck in a position in which the bed pad structure will not encumber the bed of the truck when the frame assembly is not attached to the chassis of the truck.
Abstract: A work platform for use with a lift truck. The work platform has a pair of wing platforms that are pivotally hinged to a center platform. The work platform has a wing-extended position in which the wing platforms are extended from the center platform so as to provide an extended-length work platform, and further has a transport position in which the wing platforms are pivoted about their respective vertical hinges so as to provide a reduced-width work platform for transport along a highway while loaded on the bed of a transport truck. A removable guard fence is provided for safety around the perimeter of the work platform. Hold-down latches secure the guard fence to the work platform, and latches secure the wing platforms in the transport position and in the wing-extended position.
