Abstract: A device for cleaning mechanical appliances, small parts and/or electronic switch units using cleaning liquids comprises a cleaning chamber ventilated by means of a fan. A baffle plate is arranged in front of an intake opening of the chamber. A door provides access to the chamber. A discharge chamber below the cleaning chamber collects the cleaning liquid for regeneration. The cleaning chamber is mounted above a square, closed substructure. The delivery connection piece of the fan is connected by a pipeline to the base region of the substructure. A ventilation pipeline leading both into the cleaning chamber and an evacuation pipeline opens into the upper region of the substructure. A rotary table in the cleaning chamber holds the objects to be cleaned. Abstract: Zeolites, particularly X type zeolites, essentially irrespective of the cation they contain, are effective heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidative conversion of the products of reaction of organic molecules containing a --HC.dbd.CH-- structure with ozone to at least two carboxylic acid molecules, with gaseous diatomic oxygen as the oxidative agent. The process is particularly well adapted to converting oleic acid into a mixture of azelaic and pelargonic acids.
Abstract: The object of the invention was to provide a granulation process for the production of heavy zeolite granules in which the quantity of granulation liquid used would be a less critical factor, so that (co)polymeric carboxylates could be used as a dissolved constituent of the granulation liquid. This object is achieved by using a mixture of water, surfactants and (co)polymeric carboxylates as the granulation liquid, the content of surfactants in the granulation liquid being at least 10% by weight.

Abstract: A chromate conversion coating with excellent cold workability and protection against corrosion after subsequent painting can be formed on metal surfaces, particularly on galvanized steel sheet, by drying in place on the metal an amount of an acidic aqueous composition comprising (A) from 4.0 to 51.0 g/L of hexavalent chromium; (B) from 6.0 to 38.0 g/L of trivalent chromium; (C) from 0.5 to 97.0 g/L of phosphate ions; (D) a component selected from the group consisting of sulfate ions, nitrate ions, fluoride ions, and mixtures thereof; and (E) a component selected from the group consisting of cations of Cu, Co, Ni, Sn, Fe, and Pb and mixtures thereof, wherein the trivalent chromium/hexavalent chromium weight ratio is in the range from 0.2 to 1.4. Preferably the amount of aqueous composition used is such as to produce a chromium add-on of from 20-160 mg/m.sup.2.
Abstract: Unsaturated fatty alcohols with 6 to 22 C atoms can be produced by directly hydrating deacidified and/or non-deacidified glyceride oils containing monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated, straight chain and/or branched-chain fatty acids having 6 to 22 C atoms in the fatty acid residue, by applying a 30 to 100-fold excess of hydrogen in a pressure range from 50 to 300 bars, at temperatures from 200.degree. to 400.degree. C., to zinc-chrome-catalysts of the spinel type, while largely preserving the olefinic double bonds and with formation of propane and 1,2-propylene glycol.
Abstract: Polyacrylates and their use for powder coatings are disclosed. In order to prepare the polyacrylates, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, their esters with C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alcohols, and/or fumaric acid, maleic acid, and their anhydrides are first polymerized. The polymers are then reacted with long chain alcohols, one alcohol having an aliphatic chain with 6 to 36 carbon atoms and a second alcohol having a cyclic amide structure. This polyacrylate is suitable as a levelling agent for powder coatings, in particular for powder lacquers. It improves the flowing behavior by reducing the orange peel effect and improves flowability.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of converting aqueous surfactant mixtures, in particular aqueous pastes of surfactants with washing properties such as fatty-alcohol sulphates, in particular tallow alcohol sulphates and/or C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 fatty-alcohol sulphates, monosalts of sulphonic fatty-acid methyl esters and their di-salts, alkylglusoside compounds, etc., into concentrated granular material with a long shelf life by granulation. The aqueous surfactant mixture, which includes as a viscosity-control agent alkoxylates of mono- and/or polyhydric alcohols with 8-40 carbon atoms which have up to 20 ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide groups, is granulated together with fine-particulate water-soluble and/or water-insoluble solids compatible with washing and/or cleaning agents to give a free-running compound. At least part of the water content of the granular material thus produced is preferably then removed by drying, in particular in a fluidized bed.

Abstract: An automated system is disclosed for providing at least periodic removal of metal ions from a chemical complex and contaminants from a chemical bath. The chemical bath is a latex solution containing charged latex particles and having an acidic pH to form a coating by autodeposition, the charged particles tending to coagulate when subjected to a high shear circulation. The system uses an ion exchange column containing an iminodiacetate ion exchange resin for removal of the metal ion contaminants. The chemical bath is passed through the ion exchange column at a low velocity to prevent coagulation of the latex particles. Conductivity measurement devices and controllers are used to automate the operation of the system. Also, additional sensors, such as pressure and level sensors, controllers, filters, circulation pumps and tanks are used for performing rinsing and regeneration of the ion exchange column.
