Abstract: A window flap formed in the outer envelope of a bag-in-box pack for the removal of a dispenser may readily be reclosed if the insertion flap formed from an external head flap is drawn in from both sides at the fold crease and if an insertion slot securing the insertion flap folded inwards through about 90.degree. is associated with the insertion flap in the head flap (3) situated on the inside below the window flap.

Abstract: A process for the production of alkyl polyoxyethylenes showing improved low-temperature behavior, by reaction of alcohols with ethylene oxide at elevated temperature in the presence of basic alkali metal compounds as catalysts and subsequent neutralization of the alkaline catalyst with acids, which under prior art practice was impractical because of clogging of reaction vessels and equipment associated with precipitation of salts during neutralization, is made practical by adding a finely divided solid to serve as a precipitation control agent during neutralization. The finely divided solids used are, in particular, organic and/or inorganic materials known in the prior art as filter aids, such as kieselguhr and sawdust or other finely divided cellulose.

Abstract: A metal treatment solution comprising an effective amount of a soluble or dispersible compound which is a derivative of a polyphenol. Novel derivatives of polyphenol compounds useful in the treatment of the surface of metal articles is provided. Novel surface treatment solutions or dispersions, and methods for using these solutions is provided. Carbohydrate-modified polyphenol compounds are utilized in the present invention. The molecular weight of the polyphenols used in the preperation of derivatives of the present invention are in the range of about 360 to about 30,000 or greater. The resulting derivatives will typically have a molecular weight of up to about 2,000,000 with molecular weight within the range of about 700 to about 70,000 being preferred.

Abstract: Contact of acid or alkaline cleaned aluminum surfaces, particularly cans, with a water based composition containing a combination of (i) alkoxylated phosphate esters, (ii) ions of aluminum, zirconium, iron, tin, and/or cerium, (iii) a metal etching component, and (iv) a combination of alkoxylated alcohol and alkoxylated alkyl phenol emulsifiers, gives the surface after drying lowered surface friction without loss of high quality printability and lacquer adhesion and removes any brown spotting on the cans that may have developed during the cleaning or post-cleaning rinses. The cans after treatment are substantially free from any water breaks when rinsed with water.
Abstract: A packed column with temperature sensors to measure the temperature profile longitudinally and transversely of the column without the temperature profile or flow conditions being affected by the measuring arrangement. The temperature measuring leads (10) are introduced into the upper part of a column section (1) through a single tube (12) and, are routed to the desired measuring points (8) through the peripheral zone between the packing (9) and the column wall (2).
