  • Patent number: 5244274
Abstract: A garbage processing vehicle includes a rotational fermentation drum device which is disposed on a loading platform of a vehicle, for mixing garbage with aerobic microorganisms and air in a rotational drum and providing conditions favorable to fermentation. By processing the garbage in a vehicle, device installation space can be saved and the garbage can be processed during transportation. Exhaust heat of the vehicle's engine is conducted to a peripheral space of the drum and air sucked from the periphery of the engine is supplied to the inside of the drum to promote fermentation.

  • Patent number: 5233858
Abstract: The apparatus disclosed is an attachment to be used in correcting misaligned rails in a unitized automobile chassis which includes a face plate to which is joined a three-piece wedge assembly. The apparatus allows as a result of wedging action, a sizable area of contact to be established between the apparatus and the interior of the misaligned rail so that when pulling force is applied to the apparatus, it is transferred to the rail through the broad area of contact thereby decreasing the chance of further damage to the rail during the repair process. Also disclosed is an embodiment featuring a two-piece wedge assembly. Methods for repairing a damaged rail using the wedge assemblies are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5227079
Abstract: A rigid rectangular cheese mold includes a bottom and four upright walls heatsealed to each other at their edges. The walls are provided with outwardly diverging drainage slits during injection molding of the walls. The drainage slits form rows extending in the longitudinal direction of the walls, the drainage slits of one row are staggered with respect to the slits of the other row. The outer side of the cheese mold may be reinforced by reinforcing strips or a reinforcing strip-like frame. The inner surface of the wall has whey discharge recesses formed in a net structure comprising first structure ribs and second structure ribs. The first ribs extending in the vertical direction of the wall are thicker than the second ribs extending in the horizontal direction. Additional channels on the inner side of wall may connect the whey discharge recesses. The net structure is also formed during injection moulding of the walls.

  • Patent number: 5221266
Abstract: A device for safely taking bodily samples is taught. A stylet is held within a sheath and cap. The cap has biased flanges at the forward end thereof to prevent inadvertent forward extension and possible contamination with the stylet to a health care worker. The flanges are formed such that the needle is forwardly extendable past the flanges initially for use. Once retracted, the flanges prevent re-extension beyond offering protection to the user or other personnel. A strap connected to the stylet and the cap prevents the separation of the stylet from the cap. The cap is detachable from the sheath, thus allowing the stylet and the cap to be withdrawn leaving the sheath for use. The stylet would only be used once and discarded with the protective cap over the sharp end of the stylet. A fresh stylet and cap could be obtained for use with the original sheath if additional procedures with the same sheath is necessary.

  • Patent number: 5215657
Abstract: Water treatment apparatus includes a housing, and at least one canister disposed within the housing. Inside the canister are disposed a first water treatment material and a second water treatment material, the first material being different from the second material. Both the first material and the second material acting alone makes the contaminated water more suitable for human consumption. Preferably, the first material is disposed in a first stage, the second material is disposed in a second stage which is physically discrete from the first stage. Alternatively, the first material and the second material may be admixed together in the canister. The apparatus preferably includes an alarm for indicating when the material for treating the contaminated water needs to be replaced.

  • Patent number: 5211207
Abstract: A feeder for supplying a warp to a weaving machine is described. The feeder includes a drum non-rotatably supported by a drum shaft, a driving section connected to the drum shaft, a flyer wrapping warp around the drum, the flyer being supported by and rotatable with the drum shaft, a warp sensor pivotably supported in one of a plurality of slits formed in the drum, at least one supporting member eccentrically movable and slantable with respect to the drum shaft, and at least one carrier born by the at least one supporting member and guided by the plurality of slits respectively to be movable in both an axial direction and in a radial direction. The flyer transport the warp wound about the drum in the axial direction with the supporting member rotatably mounted on the drum shaft. A dial having a cam-like slant surface is attached to the drum shaft so as to enable a inclination angle adjustment of the slant surface. By the adjustment of the dial, the supporting member is inclined.

  • Patent number: 5200128
Abstract: Process for producing binder-containing fibrous mats from lignocellulose fibres or the like together with stabilizing additives is described. These mats are then generally processed by hot pressing to shaped or moulded articles, such as for the internal lining of the passenger compartments of motor vehicles. The dry fibrous material thoroughly mixed with the binder is applied to a conveyor in such a way that there is an alternate application of several wood fibre layers and synthetic fibre layers. The accumulation densities of the synthetic fibres and the wood fibres are placed to produce a mat cross-section in accordance with a statistical distribution, or curve, which roughly corresponds to an edge-blurred, periodic comb profile. The curve base width for the synthetic, fibres is much smaller than that for the wood fibres. The individual fibre accumulations are interconnected by means of suitable adhesives.

  • Patent number: 5190348
Abstract: A self-inflating support device is described. The device has utility in various environments, particularly in seating devices deployed in motorized vehicles. The support device comprises an inflatable bladder having a release structure to control air flow. A memory plate deployed within the inflatable bladder urges the bladder to full expansion when the release structure is open. When it is desired to form the support device to the contours of a body area, the release structure is opened while the body area is reclined thereagainst. The force of reclining compresses the bladder and memory plate. Closing the release structure retains the device in the desired contour by the static air mass formed therein. Reinflation is achieved without use of a pump by the action of the memory plate. When the valve is reopened, the memory plate expands the bladder, drawing air into the bladder through the release structure.
