  • Patent number: 7915741
Abstract: Disclosed is an under bump metallization structure including a plurality of metal or metal alloy layers formed on chip bond pads. The disclosed UBM structure has a stress improvement on the semiconductor device because the thickness of the copper-base layer is reduced to between about 0.3 and 10 microns, preferably between about 0.3 and 2 micron. The presence of the pure tin layer prevents oxidation and contamination of the nickel-base layer. It also forms a good solderable surface for the subsequent processes. Also disclosed are semiconductor devices having the disclosed UBM structure and the methods of making the semiconductor devices.

  • Patent number: 7897718
Abstract: The present invention relates to an acrylated semi-crystalline hyperbranched polyurethane oligomer and a preparation method thereof, which is characterized in that on the basis of the synthesis of hyperbranched polyurethane oligomer, it adopts a two-step process to make modifications to form a methacrylic and/or acrylic double bond and a long carbon chain with a carbon atom number higher than 10 or a benzene ring or a naphthalene ring at the terminals. The obtained oligomer has a lower melting point and a higher glass transition temperature and can be cured by means of radiation, and the curing rate is high enough to effectively improve production efficiency and save energy to form a cured film having a higher hardness and excellent thermal stability. The raw materials used in the method of the invention are easily obtained, and the method is suitable for large-scale production in industry.

  • Patent number: 7886516
Abstract: An engine that operates and produces the entire required vehicle thrust below Mach 4 is useful for a Hypersonic combined cycle vehicle by saving vehicle and engine development costs. One such engine is a combined cycle engine having both a booster and a dual mode ramjet (DMRJ). The booster and the DMRJ are integrated to provide effective thrust from Mach 0 to in excess of Mach 4. As the booster accelerates the vehicle from Mach 0 to in excess of Mach 4, from Mach 0 to about Mach 2 incoming air delivered to the DMRJ is accelerated by primary ejector thrusters that may receive oxidizer from either on-board oxidizer tanks or from turbine compressor discharge air. As the TBCC further accelerates the vehicle from about Mach 0 to in excess of Mach 4 exhaust from the turbine and exhaust from the DMRJ are combined in a common nozzle disposed downstream of a combustor portion of said DMRJ functioning as an aerodynamic choke.

  • Patent number: 7880448
Abstract: A permanent magnet machine (PMM) has a kinetic portion electrically coupled to a power conversion portion. Motive power is provided to the kinetic portion by a torque applied to a motive shaft coupled to a prime mover, such as an aircraft engine or an automobile engine. A control circuit includes a switch disposed between the kinetic portion and output feeder cables of the power conversion portion. A first sensor is effective to detect a first fault condition in either the feeder cables or the power conversion portion and a second sensor is effective to detect a second fault condition in the kinetic energy portion. The first sensor is effective to open the switch when a first fault condition is detected and the second sensor is effective to apply a voltage to a winding within the kinetic portion generating an opposing counter torque on the motive shaft where a combination of torque and counter torque exceeds a fracture yield strength of said motive shaft causing it to fracture.

  • Patent number: 7840998
Abstract: A module installable in a machine includes a memory device attached thereto for storing electronic data associated with the module. The memory device allows an individual to verify the authenticity or inauthenticity of the module without having to install the module into the machine. The memory device includes a sensory signal output device (e.g., a visual, audible, or tactile output device) that provides a sensory signal indicating authenticity or inauthenticity of the module. To verify authenticity or inauthenticity of the module, the individual initiates a query signal, for example by activating a switch on the module or by using a handheld antenna to impart an electromagnetic field onto the CRUM, and checks for the sensory signal output by the CRUM. The sensory signal may be capable of communicating a visual or audible trademark associated with the module. Data stored in the CRUM may include anti-arbitrage variables associated with the module.
