  • Patent number: 5769349
Abstract: The cable (2), at one extremity of which the connector is fixed, is wound onto the largest portion of the periphery of the drum (6) and is fixed at its other extremity to an arm (12) pivoting around the spin axis (7) of the drum (6). The spring returning the drum (6) clockwise is stronger than the one returning the arm (12) in the same direction. The pivoting arm (12) is housed in a cell (11) of the drum (6) and bears an articulated angle lever (17) whose extremity (18) is engaged in a notch (22) of the drum (6). A continuous traction ensures the full withdrawing of the cable, the drum then being kept in the corresponding "reinforced" position by the ratchet (24). At the time of disconnection, a new slight traction applied to the cable provokes the automatic disengagement of the ratchet (24) and the effective lowering of the cable (2).

  • Patent number: 5729887
Abstract: A resist is applied or an inorganic oxide is put from over the upper surface of a coil formed on an insulating layer and including wire members of a rectangular cross-section and channels between the wire members of the coil are filled halfway with the resist or the inorganic oxide. A space left in the channel is then coated with the inorganic oxide. The inorganic oxide, which is used in this manner for the purpose of preventing the deformation of the coil due to a secular change, can be filled without generating voids in the channel between the wire members, the physical strength of the most important upper location of the wire member becomes high and the electric characteristics of the coil are improved.

  • Patent number: 5727880
Abstract: Method and apparatus provided for visibly outlining the energy zone to be measured by a radiometer. The method comprises the steps of providing a laser sighting device on the radiometer adapted to emit at least one laser beam against a surface whose temperature is to be measured and positioning said laser beam about the energy zone to visibly outline said energy zone. The apparatus comprises a laser sighting device adapted to emit at least one laser beam against the surface and means to position said laser beam about the energy zone to visibly outline said energy zone. The laser beam may be rotated about the periphery of the energy zone. In another embodiment, a pair of laser beams are projected on opposite sides of the energy zone. The laser beam may be further pulsed on and off in a synchronized manner so as to cause a series of intermittent lines to outline the energy zone. Such an embodiment improves the efficiency of the laser and results in a brighter laser beam being projected.

  • Patent number: 5691681
Abstract: A method of producing a field magnet for a DC motor is disclosed. A molding material is casted into a molding space which is between outer and inner molds. Field poles are formed by magnetizing poles on the outer peripheral surface of the inner mold, in portions which oppose the magnetizing poles. A magnetic path which connects the field poles with each other is formed in a thickness portion of the molding material by powder of a ferromagnetic material in the molding material.

  • Patent number: 5687922
Abstract: A pulverizer used to pulverize tea leaves, grain such as sesame and wheat, and minerals such as ceramics and rocks. A pair of upper and lower mortars provided for the pulverizer are rotated relatively to pulverize material between the pulverizing surface provided on the top surface of the lower mortar and the pulverizing surface provided on the bottom surface of the upper mortar. The pulverizing surface of the lower mortar is formed in a concave conical shape and the pulverizing surface of the upper mortar is formed in a conical shape matching the concave conical shape. Accordingly, when pulverization is performed between the pulverizing surfaces of the upper and lower mortars, the material is raised along the pulverizing surface of the lower mortar toward its outer peripheral section and slips down along the pulverizing surface, returning toward its central section. This up-and-down movement is repeated. The material can therefore be retained for an extended period of time between the pulverizing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5676304
Abstract: A method of bonding a contact-type thin film magnetic head element to a beam for supporting the head element in a contact-type thin film magnetic head during a process of producing the magnetic head is disclosed. A connecting pad of the magnetic head element is made contact with a signal conductor of the supporting beam. Then, a vibration energy of an ultrasonic wave is applied to the contact portion so that the surfaces of the components in the contact portion are caused to diffuse into each other. As a result, a state in which the connecting pad is mechanically coupled and electrically connected to the signal conductor is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5673564
Abstract: The method of the invention comprises compression-forming prerefrigerated meat pieces into loaves, wherein the temperature of the loaves is brought, through successive stabilization operations, to a predetermined value. In this method, the meat pieces are individually subjected to a drying stage in a cold air stream (drying station) before undergoing an intense cooling stage (cooling station) followed by a stabilization stage. The invention is useful for instance for making flaky meat loaves.

  • Patent number: 5669888
Abstract: A tubular guard 14 encircles the needle 6 and exhibits a conical connection surface which, in the protection position, cooperates with a conical connection surface of the joining piece bearing the needle 6. By pushing on the cap 16 covering the needle 6, the joining piece and the associated guard are secured to the handpiece 1. The collar 17 is then pressed onto the guard 14 and frees the guard from the joining piece. The guard 14 is then hooked onto the handpiece 1 by freeing the end of the needle 6.

  • Patent number: 5651879
Abstract: The cell 1 includes an upper cylindrical chamber 2 comprising at its center over its entire height a vertical ink removal pipe 4. A lower lateral pipe 9 receives via an opening 10 a paper pulp feed diluted in water and is fed with air from an upper pipe 12. Injectors placed on the pipe 9 inject the paper pulp and air into the chamber 2. Each injector has the shape of a tube with a constant diameter and opens at its outlet extremity through about twelve honeycomb-shaped orifices, thus ensuring a satisfactory dispersion of the air. The air bubbles lift up the ink particles so as to form a foam evacuated by the pipe 4.

  • Patent number: 5650937
Abstract: The battery (3), which powers an apparatus (2), supplies an auxiliary circuit for a short time (5). A test and control component (6) of the device superimposes a low amplitude current interference .DELTA.i onto the discharge current (1). The interference signal frequency f is chosen acccording to the capacity and the discharge current of the battery (3). Processing of the frequency response of the battery (3) by the test and control component provides an indication of the combined impedence of the battery at that frequency. The value Z.sub.I =(.DELTA.V/.DELTA.I) sin (.DELTA..phi.) of the imaginary part of the impedence so measured, or advantageously the value of the quantity .GAMMA.=Z.sub.I.sup.-2 f.sup.-3/2 thereby indicates the state of charge of the battery.

  • Patent number: 5616295
Abstract: In the furnace a plurality of floaters are arranged in series in a direction in which the metal strip is transferred. The strip is fed through the furnace, floated by these floaters. A test floater is installed along the strip transfer pathway. The height of the strip floated by the test floater is detected by a float sensor. The gas pressure of the test floater detected when the test floater floats the strip to an appropriate height is reflected on the gas pressures of the in-furnace floaters. As a result, the in-furnace floaters float the strip to the appropriate height.
