  • Patent number: 5363400
Abstract: In a physical vapor deposition method of thermochemical treatment of metals, the substance of a target which constitutes a first electrode of a treatment furnace is evaporated by ion bombardment optionally assisted by an electrical arc discharge. The particles evaporated in this manner are deposited onto a substrate at the potential of a second electrode which is different from that of the first electrode. The substrate is heated during this deposition to a treatment temperature exceeding 600.degree. C. and preferably between 800.degree. C. and 1 200.degree. C. The target and its ancillary members in the furnace are continuously cooled by a flow of cooling fluid so that when the treatment temperature is reached the material of the target remains solid and the evaporation occurring at the surface of the target is effected by sublimation. The result is to improve the regularity of the deposit, its adherence to the substrate and the treatment time.

  • Patent number: 5352074
Abstract: A tool mounting apparatus comprises a main shaft including an insertion hole and a stop flange, and an insertion part including a main body, an annular engage member disposed around the main body, wedge members and an annular clamp member disposed outside the annular engage member and biased in the axial direction. When the main body with a tool mounted is put in and abuts the insertion hole and lock nails formed on the annular engage member engage the stop flange, the wedge members are held firmly by the annular clamp member in the bottom portion of the space between a first receive wall provided on the main body and a second receive wall provided on the annular engage member. The tensile force exerted from a work piece through the first wall, the wedge members, the second wall and the lock nails is borne by the stop flange and does not move the tool.

  • Patent number: 5345166
Abstract: Detector comprising a sensor and a processing circuit connected to a load by means of two wires. Two switches (I1, I2) are arranged in series in a switching circuit leg (21), the ends of which (C, D) are connected to the detector terminals and the middle point (S) to a terminal (F) of the processing circuit. When operating (I1) is conductive and (I2) determines a parallel regulation of the voltage (V) at the processing circuit (12) terminals ; when in rest position, (I1) determines a series regulation of the voltage while (I2) is blocked.

  • Patent number: 5328039
Abstract: The device includes two identical half-rails disposed symmetrically with respect to the upper longitudinal edge of the wall of the shelf-unit. Each half-rail includes one member whose internal face is welded to an angle steel with a horizontal wing, and one central support plate in support on blocks secured to the horizontal wings. The plate has transverse cracks superimposed on guiding holes borne by the blocks. The mutual spacing of the half-rails is adjusted at will and the entire unit is fixed in the selected position by a screw traversing the superimposed crack and hole. A mobile support member of a decoration element includes superimposed elements each having horizontal wings housing a horizontal guiding track integral with the central plate. Screws are able to tighten together the elements so as to immobilize the support member in any selected position along the guiding track.

  • Patent number: 5324342
Abstract: Mixed gas of nonoxidizing gas and oxygen is blown into molten chrome steel in a vessel. The molten chrome steel is stirred by the gas and is decarbonized by the oxygen in the gas while being stirred. After the carbon potential in the molten chrome steel has been lowered, the pressure inside the vessel is reduced and the nonoxidizing gas alone is blown as the gas. Bubbles of the gas blown into the molten chrome steel become large on account of reduced pressure and exhibit sufficient stirring function. Consequently, the molten chrome steel is effectively stirred and the decarbonizing reaction is prompted.

  • Patent number: 5311291
Abstract: At least one dimension of the transverse cross-section of an object is measured in a predetermined direction by scanning the cross-section at constant speed with a laser beam which is moved in the plane of the cross-section but remains perpendicular to this direction. Successive pulses are generated representing the times, opto-electronically detected, at which the downstream side beam disappears and reappears. An electronic window is generated from said pulses during each of the time intervals of interception of the beam by the object. Clock pulses are counted during each of the windows and each of the counts obtained is compared with a predetermined digital threshold to validate the respective measurement.
