  • Patent number: 5601427
Abstract: A furnace body is partly or thoroughly made of a metal material. An inner peripheral face of the metal material portion is covered by a lining. Spray means for cooling the lining of a relatively thin portion via the metal material portion of the furnace body is disposed outside the furnace body. When wastes are to be melted, wastes are melted under a state where the spray means sprays coolant on the outer face of the furnace body and cools the lining, thereby preventing erosion of the lining from occurring.

  • Patent number: 5600478
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a laser marking system, using a displaceable mirror to cause the path of the laser beam to scan in one direction. The mirror is conveniently controlled by at least one flexure hinge driven by a piezo electric device, an electro-strictive device or a magneto-strictive device. In one disclosed embodiment two mirrors (15,16,) are provided, each mirror (15 or 16,) having a flexure hinge device (18,19) individual thereto, and the displacements applied to the flexure hinge devices (18,19,), via respective driving devices (20,21,), cause the mirrors (15,16,) to scan the path of the laser beam (13) in a series of steps in one direction of scan. A computer (11), arranged to drive the flexure hinge driving devices (20,21,), also controls the firing of the laser (12) in accordance with a predetermined program.

  • Patent number: 5590614
Abstract: This sewing machine is provided with a stop member for stopping the downward movement of the presser foot holder in the case that the cushion piece on the retainer is left out. This stop member is provided with a cushion piece on its upper surface to stop the abutting member provided in the presser foot holder in the shock-absorbed condition. Besides, this stop operation is performed in the condition where a clearance to place cloth is made between the upper surface of the bed and the lower end of the presser foot. As a result, in the normal condition, it is needless to say that the sewing work can be performed without damage of the cloth or without occurrence of big sound, and even in the abnormal condition that the cushion piece employed on the retainer to prevent the occurrence of the noise has been left out, the sewing work can be continuously performed preventing damage of the cloth or occurrence of excessively big sound.

  • Patent number: 5590639
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a method of masonary cutting and to the structure of a novel tool. The tool has twin outwardly splayed and flared chisel like blades which join the handle at a recess groove for waste ejection. The blades are beveled only on their upper edges and are driven forward by hammering on the remove handle end. The method comprises attacking a flat masonary surface at an angle greater than 5 degrees (preferably at 13 degrees) with twin divergent cutting edges beveled only on the upper surfaces and having a flat lower surface. Material is imploded between the blades and ejected at the recess groove without dust formation.

  • Patent number: 5583731
Abstract: A device is adapted to be associated with a group of input or output channels, especially of a programmable automatic controller, to detect if the channels are subject to an open circuit and/or an overcurrent. To each channel are assigned two analog comparators connected to a processor logic circuit which connects one or the other comparator output to a control unit. Configurator logic activates or deactivates one or the other of the comparators and associated forcing devices and filters according to the operating mode selected.

  • Patent number: 5580110
Abstract: The lifting ring includes a shouldered spindle 1 on the threaded body 2 of which a base 3 is screwed and locked by glueing. A crossmember 4 rotates freely on the body 2, thus being held between the internal face 5 of the base 3 and the bottom 6 of the head 7 of the spindle 1. The branches 9,9' of a shackle 10 respectively rotate on the lateral bearing journals 8, 8' of the crossmember 4. The support of each branch 9, 9'on the associated bearing journal 8, 8' is provided by a retaining ring 11 with a circular section fully engaged in a throat with a semi-circular section fitted on the periphery of the bearing journal.

  • Patent number: 5530324
Abstract: The invention relates to a resonance reducing arrangement for a device displaceable between two positions. In one described embodiment the device (14) is displaced against the resilience of a spring (11) by causing an electrical device (15) to accelerate the device (14) towards its second position, terminating the force accelerating the device (14) to allow the device to continue to displace towards the second position and then reactivating the electrical device (15) to cause the electrical device (15) to expand to that position at which it holds the device (14) in its second position.

  • Patent number: 5529698
Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, separating contaminants from a base liquid and whereby the contaminated base liquid is passed through a pretreatment vessel before being passed to a conventional separator. In one embodiment, the pretreatment vessel is of generally cylindrical form arranged with its axis substantially vertical. Base liquid to be decontaminated is supplied into the mid-height regions of the vessel through a tangential device to cause circulating flows within the vessel. The vessel includes an outlet in its top region for the release of light contaminants, an outlet in its lower region for the release of heavy contaminants and an outlet duct in its mid-region, spaced from the inlet, for releasing partially contaminated liquid from the vessel for release into a conventional separator.

  • Patent number: 5519405
Abstract: A direction adjustment indicator for a satellite radio wave receiving antenna comprises a demodulating circuit to demodulate a satellite radio wave received by the antenna, a peak holding circuit always to output a held peak value of the demodulated output of the demodulating circuit, a comparator circuit and a display element. The comparator circuit compares the instantaneous value of the demodulated output and the held peak value, and outputs a signal when both values are equal and another different signal when both values are not equal. The display element gives two different kinds of display in accordance with the signals. While the azimuth angle of the antenna is varied in one direction, a peak value of the demodulated output is held and while the angle is varied in the opposite direction, the optimum azimuth angle is displayed for which the instantaneous value of the demodulated output agrees with the held peak value.

  • Patent number: 5518617
Abstract: A separator for separating contaminants from a base liquid. The separator includes a roof arrangement, part of which extends downwardly and radially inwardly into the liquid in the separator. The roof arrangement is generally in inverted conical form. The decontaminated liquid flows from the separator through a flow modifying member which dampens any circulating flows in the liquid, and flows upwardly out of the separator to a reservoir defined by the inverted conical roof arrangement. The arrangement also includes structure for releasing gases from the volumes beneath the roof arrangement, thereby maintaining the whole of the roof arrangement in contact with the liquid to assist in reducing circulating flow in the liquid on the upper regions of the separator vessel.
