  • Patent number: 5483967
Abstract: A device capable of recording a bioelectrical signal under the normal living conditions of a living body is arranged so that an extremely real record can be obtained not only during a walk, a meal or a sleep of the living body but also even during bathing. A base member having flexibility which permits it to follow the motion of the living body is provided with electrodes for picking up electrical signals of the living body and a recording element for recording the picked-up electrical signals. If the base member is stuck on the living body, the electrodes pick up the electrical signals of the living body and the picked-up electrical signals are recorded in the recording element. When the base member is stuck on the living body, the base member watertightly covers the electrodes. Accordingly, even if the living body is surrounded by water, the electrodes can pick up the electrical signals of the living body without touching the water.

  • Patent number: 5432945
Abstract: A device for controlling and protecting outputs against overcurrents, in particular for programmable automatic controllers, comprises for each output channel a protection circuit connected by a single terminal to a power switch and to its control circuit. In the protection circuit a comparator compares with a threshold a voltage imaging the current in the output channel and disabling means are connected to a circuit for forcing the comparator input voltage. A common terminal is therefore used to monitor and to disable the output channel.

  • Patent number: 5405235
Abstract: A barrel grasping device with upper and lower jaws pivoted to a double yoke surrounding the pole of a barrel trolley. An auxiliary yoke imprisoning a clamping plate is slidingly mounted on the pole above a double yoke and is connected to the latter by a compression spring. A connecting rod is pivoted at one end to the double yoke and at its intermediate portion to a lever having one extremity pivoted to the auxiliary yoke around an off-set axis and engaging a clamping plate. The weight of the barrel transmitted by the jaws to the double yoke automatically pulls the connecting rod, causing the lever to pivot and push the clamping plate against the pole, thus clamping the device along the pole of the barrel trolley.

  • Patent number: 5394200
Abstract: The device comprises a luminous source 3 in the form of a circular ring, an optical doublet 4 and a matrix camera 5 on the lens of which the doublet 4 carries the elliptic image of the source 3 given by the cornea 2 of the eye 1. An electronic card 15 connected to the outlet of the matrix camera 5 supplies from a video signal, made up of a plurality of video lines and derived from the camera 5, a plurality of numerical values describing the elliptic image. A microprocessor element 19 receives and processes this plurality of numerical values so as to extract the value information from the large bending radius, the small bending radius and the angular position of the main axis of the cornea 2.

  • Patent number: 5391120
Abstract: Two guiding marks constituted by two parallel transversal marks are borne on the back of the belt, a number between said marks being indicated giving the length of the spacing required by the two markers when the belt is installed so that this belt is subjected to a suitable mounting tension. When the belt is installed, the latter is thus tensioned until the spacing of the marks reaches the given value which is simply checked by a meter rule. The invention concerns the mounting of transmission belts.

  • Patent number: 5372091
Abstract: The invention relates to a pig farrowing pen and resides in directing air flows under the sow when standing to drive the piglets to a safe location and thereby prevent the piglets from being trapped and crushed as the sow moves from an elevated position to a lying position. In one described embodiment an element (18) lies in the path of the sow as she rises and the element (18) is elevated as the sow moves to an elevated position. The element (18) carries an electrical switch (20), conveniently a tilt switch, which is closed as the element (18) is elevated by the sow and, on the switch (20) closing, a valve (24) is opened to direct pressure air flows under the sow. As the sow moves from an upright posit on towards a lying position the element (18) is lowered, the electrical switch (20) opens and the supply of pressure air is terminated. In preferred embodiments the air supply may be pulsed and/or chilled to encourage the piglets to move from the danger zone beneath the sow.
