Abstract: A signal-processing device for transforming a digital image signal, that has been obtained by sampling and digitization of a video signal obtained by line-wise scanning of an original, to a binary image signal wherein zero points of the two-dimensional second difference of the digital video signal are determined in order to detect contrast transitions in the original. Unwanted noise components in the video signal are eliminated by masking the second-difference signal.

Abstract: A high contrast silver metal image can be formed in an exposed photographic silver halide emulsion layer material, the silver halide of which is at least 90 mole percent silver bromide, with the balance being silver chloride and/or silver iodide by developing the same in a developing medium in the presence of hydroquinone as sole developing agent, a large amount of sulphite derived from an inorganic sulphite compound, a nitro-indazole anti-fogging agent, and a polyoxyethylene polymer, and an inorganic alkaline compound to impart to the medium a pH of at least 10.5 provided the amounts of these ingredients meets certain requirements.
Abstract: An arrangement for the wet processing of photographic materials includes a container for a processing bath. A rack for transporting the materials through the bath is removably mountable in the container. The container has a longitudinally extending bottom wall as well as a pair of longitudinally extending side walls, and these walls are constituted by a one piece extrusion consisting of a synthetic resin. The extrusion is shaped to match the outline of the rack. The container further has a pair of injection molded end walls which likewise consist of a synthetic resin. The end walls are fused to the respective ends of the extrusion. The rack is divided into two sections to facilitate introduction of the rack into, and removal of the rack from, the container.

Abstract: A strip of originals is copied onto a band of copy material at high speed using a highly automated copier which measures the densities of the originals in the primary colors and calculates exposures from the densities. The calculated exposures for each original in each primary color are recorded. The band of exposed copy material is developed and the copies are evaluated. Unsatisfactory copies are marked. The band of copy material is subsequently cut into individual copies and the unsatisfactory copies, as well as the corresponding originals, are collected. These originals are recopied in a second copier which is far less sophisticated and expensive than the first copier. The exposures used to recopy an original are derived by applying correction factors to the recorded exposures for the original. By performing the recopying procedures, which are rather slow because they require manual operations, in a second copier, the output of the high speed copier can be maintained.
