  • Patent number: 4577949
Abstract: A developing device for a photographic layer carrier, particularly a film, includes two rotary transport roller pairs transporting a film in a horizontal direction over a bath containing a processing liquid. Two liquid-admitting chambers are positioned opposite to each other in spaced relationship to form a processing space through which the film is transported. Each chamber is subdivided into two portions by a comb-like partition which loosens vortexes generated in one chamber portion upon pumping the liquid thereinto and ensures a uniform distribution of the liquid discharged into the processing space through a slot provided in the second chamber portion.

  • Patent number: 4578280
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of a magnetic recording material having at least one layer of magnetic oxidic and/or metallic needle shaped pigments with dimensional anisotropy and/or some other type of magnetic anisotropy, e.g. crystalline, dielectric or magnetic field induced anisotropy, which process may be used to produce a layer having perpendicular anisotropy or a layer which passes from an initial perpendicular anisotropy to an isotropic distribution of the preferential magnetic axes of the pigments. According to the present process, the magnetic dispersion, after having been applied to the layer support, is subjected to an external magnetic field while still in the state of a liquid suspension, with the result that the pigments move with the preferential axis thereof into the perpendicular axis of the layer, and the pigments are subsequently fixed by drying.

  • Patent number: 4576889
Abstract: Method of transferring a liquid xerographic toner image between two elements one of which is a flexible sheet advancing along a straight line path and the other is advancing synchronously along an arcuate path around a fixed axis which path at one point is in close spaced proximity to the straight line path. The flexible element is supported by its margins alone and its unsupported region is subjected to a biasing force to deflect the same toward the other element and bring a liquid toner image, which is previously deposited, e.g., by developing an electrostatic charge pattern with liquid toner, on one of the mutually facing surfaces of the two elements, into direct contact with both element surfaces maintaining such surfaces apart. During the passage of the two elements through the point of close proximity an electrical potential gradient is applied across the elements during such passage to transfer the liquid toner from the surface on which it is deposited to the other element surface.

  • Patent number: 4575739
Abstract: A recording apparatus for linewise recording information on a moving photoreceptor, comprising a recording head with two staggered rows of pointlike radiation sources, wherein a shortcoming of prior art devices, namely stepwise deformation of a recorded line, caused by an incorrect registering of the even and uneven data dots, as a consequence of speed fluctuations of the photoreceptor upon recording, is overcome by controlling the recording of the data signals as a function of a signal from a speed sensor of the photoreceptor.

  • Patent number: 4572849
Abstract: A process for the multiple coating of webs which are continuously moving past a coating point, using coating apparatus according to the bead coating process is carried out such that any number of comparatively high viscosity layers is arranged above an accelerating layer which lies below the layers and has a viscosity range of from 1 to 20 mPas and a layer thickness of from 2 to 30 .mu.m. A very small gap width of from 100 to 400 .mu.m is selected between the sliding surface coating head and the web to be coated and only a low reduced pressure is applied under the coating head. • Patent number: 4571602
Abstract: In a recording apparatus comprising a recording head with a multiplicity of individually addressable and energizable point-like radiation sources arranged in staggered parallel rows for irradiating points across a moving photoreceptor, the driver circuits for the different rows of radiation sources are provided by identical chips. Each chip incorporates delay means capable of holding data-bit signals for a delay period before the signals are transmitted for energizing the associated radiation sources but is formed so that the delay means can be rendered inoperative by selecting one or other of different mode control voltage input points. The control chips for one row of the radiation sources are set in the delay-operative mode to compensate for the distance between the two rows of sources.
