  • Patent number: 4496273
Abstract: An arrangement for supplying unexposed X-ray films to a handling apparatus, such as a cassette unloading and loading apparatus, includes a channel member bounding a channel into which a receptacle unit including an inner receptacle member and an outer tubular casing member can be introduced. The casing member is shiftable relative to the receptacle member so as to respectively cover and uncover a withdrawing opening of the receptacle member in its closed and open relative position. At least one arresting device is provided which arrests the members in their closed position. The arresting device is released by a releasing device mounted on the channel member when the receptacle unit reaches its releasing position in the channel. Then, the casing member is retained in the releasing position, and the receptacle member continues its movement until it reaches its open position.

  • Patent number: 4494706
Abstract: A strip of exposed film which issues from a developing machine is convoluted onto the core of a horizontal takeup reel whose flange or flanges rest on the peripheral surface of a horizontal roller which is driven to rotate the reel in a direction to convolute the strip. The strip is braked by a tensioning device between the developing machine and the reel, and the latter is thereby maintained in a first position of abutment with the concave internal surface of a first locating device and in contact with the driven roller. A spring-biased lever urges the reel to a second position in which the reel is out of contact with the roller and abuts against the concave inner side of a second locating device. The lever is free to move the reel sideways and to the second position as soon as the action of the tensioning device upon the strip is terminated, namely, as soon as the trailing end of the strip advances beyond the tensioning device.

  • Patent number: 4493545
Abstract: A cassette for sheet film has a cover and a bottom which are hinged to one another along a longitudinal edge of the cassette. Locking elements for locking the cover and bottom when the cassette is closed are arranged at the opposite longitudinal edge of the cassette. The cover and bottom cooperate to define a film compartment and the bottom has a rigid, flat wall for supporting a sheet of film. The cover has a window for exposing the film in the compartment and is further provided with a slot which slidably receives a shield for protecting the film against light until such time as the film is to be exposed. A resilient rim is mounted on the cover and extends around the window. The rim is arranged to press the margins of the film against the rigid wall of the bottom when the cassette is closed. The hinged connection of the cover and the bottom causes the rim to contact the film progressively as the cassette is closed so that the rim stretches the film flat over the rigid wall of the bottom.

  • Patent number: 4492458
Abstract: A method of copying a colored original involves measuring the transparency of localized regions of the original in each of the three primary colors. Three localized transparency ratios for each region are formed from the transparency values for the different colors. Three corresponding average transparency ratios for the original as a whole are computed from the localized transparency ratios. Each average transparency ratio is compared with a statistical average of similar ratios obtained from a large number of average originals. If an average transparency ratio of the original to be copied deviates from the corresponding statistical average by more than a predetermined amount, the number of each of the localized transparency ratios lying inside and outside of a predetermined range about the corresponding average transparency ratio of the original is counted. When the number outside of a predetermined range exceeds the number inside, a color dominant is assumed to be present in the original.

  • Patent number: 4492177
Abstract: A xerographic liquid toner image is transferred onto an image-receiving sheet carried along an arcuate path, e.g., on the peripheral surface of a rotating drum from the underside of a flexible sheet, e.g., a photoconductor sheet, while the flexible sheet is suspended by its margins from a moving carriage. The carriage is guided generally horizontally along a path above and proximate to the top of the drum periphery at a level such that the unattached central part of the flexible sheet, which is free to sag relative to its margins, is supported by the liquid toner image itself, out of contact with the image-receiving sheet, as the two sheets pass through an image transfer zone adjacent the top of the drum periphery.

  • Patent number: 4486082
Abstract: An apparatus which controls the operation of metering pumps serving to regenerate the baths in a developing machine for exposed photosensitive material issuing from a photocomposing machine has a computer whose outputs transmit appropriate signals to the metering pumps via amplifiers and whose inputs respectively receive signals from a scanner serving to ascertain the width of photosensitive material in the photocomposing machine and the composition of the emulsion, from a forward-reverse counter which ascertains the total length of photosensitive material admitted into the developing machine per unit of time, and from an integrating circuit which receives signals denoting the amounts of radiation issuing from a cathode ray tube or a laser recorder and impinging upon the photosensitive material. This renders it unnecessary to monitor the condition of the baths and/or the photosensitive material in the developing machine.
