Abstract: A polymer bilayer includes a layer of a porous fluoropolymer directly overlying a layer of polyethylene. The polyethylene layer may be porous or dense and may include an ultra-high molecular weight polymer. The polymer bilayer may be co-integrated with structures (e.g., wearable devices) exposed to high thermal loads (>0-1000 W/m2) and provide passive cooling thereof. For instance, passive cooling of AR/VR glasses under different solar loads may be achieved by a polymer bilayer that is both highly reflective across solar heating wavelengths and highly emissive in the long-wavelength infrared. The high reflectance decreases energy absorption across the solar spectrum while the high emissivity promotes radiative heat transfer to the surroundings.

Abstract: A battery module includes a housing having an opening and an electrochemical cell disposed in the housing. The electrochemical cell includes a first cell surface having electrode terminals and an second cell surface substantially opposite the first cell surface. The battery module also includes a heat sink integral with the housing and a thermally conductive adhesive bonded to the second cell surface and a heat sink surface that is facing the second cell surface. The thermally conductive adhesive can include a bonding shear strength and bonding tensile strength between the electrochemical cell and the heat sink of between approximately 5 megaPascals (MPa) and 50 MPa.

Abstract: Timekeeping on a computing device is deterministically performed by implementing two successive calls to a time function that returns current time based on a continuously running counter that is maintained in one or more cores of the device's CPU. The same fixed time computation parameters are used in each call, with the single variable being a value that is read from the counter. For the initial call to the time function, the processor optimizes the instruction execution by predicting the function's execution path based on observed patterns. As the instructions and data are already cached, and the processor has the results of the prior execution path prediction, the subsequent call executes quickly and predictably relative to the initial call while the processor remains in a working (i.e., non-sleep) state. The series of calls provides a deterministic time computation with improved accuracy by mitigating the unpredictability of processor sleep state delays.
Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor that may determine that an application was accessed through a portal. Based on a determination that the application was accessed through the portal, the processor may determine whether a first credential type or a second credential type was supplied to access the application, in which the first credential type may include a set of personal credentials of a user and the second credential type may include a set of single sign-on credentials that the user may use to access multiple applications. The processor may also output a trace that may indicate an identification of the application that was accessed and the type of the credential supplied to access the application, in which a backed entity may analyze the data included in the trace.
Abstract: Described are tray table tuning mechanisms for a passenger seat. The tray table tuning mechanisms can include a pivot limiting member, a paddle arm deployment member, an adjustment plate, and a paddle arm. The paddle arm deployment member and the adjustment plate may be pivoted relative to the pivot limiting member. The paddle arm can include at least one stop member and may be pivotably coupled to the paddle arm deployment member. Additionally, the paddle arm may be pivoted between a stowed state and a deployed state. In the deployed state, the stop member can abut a portion of the adjustment plate to limit rotation of the paddle arm deployment member in a first direction.
Abstract: A sonic tooling handling apparatus includes a gantry support structure with a base frame structure and an overhead frame structure operatively coupled to the base frame structure. The overhead frame structure has a pair of longitudinal beams and a transverse beam coupled to the pair of longitudinal beams. The transverse beam is movable along each of the pair of longitudinal beams. The gantry support structure includes a lifting device coupled to the transverse beam and is movable along part of the transverse beam. The lifting device includes a sonic tooling clamp. The lifting device may raise or lower sonic tooling held by the sonic tooling clamp. The sonic tooling apparatus further includes a removable sonic tooling holding rack having a plurality of stanchions creating at least one sonic tooling holding space for holding sonic tooling. A method of handling sonic tooling and a pipe tong is also disclosed.
Abstract: Systems and methods for adding a new domain to a natural language understanding system to form an updated language understanding system with multiple domain experts are provided. More specifically, the systems and methods are able to add a new domain utilizing data from one or more of the domains already present in the natural language understanding system while keeping the new domain and the already present domains separate from each other.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of user authentication is provided. The method comprises combining, by a computer system, a user recurrent neural network with a system recurrent neural network to form a unique combined recurrent neural network. The user recurrent neural network is configured to generate a unique user key, and the system recurrent neural network is configured to generate a system key. The computer system inputs a predetermined input into the combined recurrent neural network, and the combined recurrent neural network generates a unique combined key from the input, wherein the combined key differs from both the user key and system key. The computer system then associates the combined key with a unique access authorization to authenticate a user.

Abstract: Watertight fastening devices and systems and methods for the employment thereof are disclosed. The disclosed watertight fastening device includes a head, a shank extending away from the head toward a distal end, and a cover extending outwardly and away from the head in the direction of the shank and defining a hollow region between the shank and an inner surface of the cover.
