Abstract: A gaming device in accordance with some implementations includes a housing, a reel-spin initiation member, and a reel configured to spin in response to a user actuation of the reel-spin initiation member, the reel including a peripheral member having a plurality of symbols thereon and an array of light-emitting elements coupled to the reel. The gaming device also includes a controller coupled to the array of light-emitting elements and configured to selectively illuminate respective light-emitting elements of the array of light-emitting elements while the reel is rotating to produce an animated visual element.

Abstract: A gaming device comprises a display, a processor, and a memory storing (a) reel strip data defining a set of reel strips, each reel of the set of reel strips comprising special symbols and regular symbols; and (b) instructions. The reel strips are used to select symbols to populate positions of a playing field shown on the display. When two or more of the same special symbols occupy adjacent positions of the playing field, they may merge into a single position occupied by one of the special symbols in question. If three or more special symbols are adjacent, all merge into a single position and a higher-value special symbol. This merge may be signaled by a graphic such as an animation or image, a sound, a light, a vibration, or other audiovisual or haptic indicator. The higher-value special symbol thus replaces one of the adjacent special symbols while the rest are removed or disappear.

Abstract: Multi-player games in which players cooperate and/or compete with one another over the course of several rounds of the game are disclosed. A controller may synchronize gaming devices used by the players during the multi-player games. The controller may send sync commands to the gaming devices. In response to the sync commands, the gaming devices may start a sync timer which defines a window in which certain guarded operations may be accepted by the gaming devices. The controller may send periodic sync update commands to the gaming devices which cause the gaming devices to update their respect sync timers to a time remaining of a master sync timer or window maintained by the controller. The controller may ensure that play of the multi-player game proceeds in a relatively lock-step manner across the gaming devices.
Abstract: A removable cover for an electronic gaming machine having one or more external surfaces is provided. The removable cover includes a printable film for positioning over the external surfaces of the electronic gaming machine, and a flexible multi-layer film covering the printable film. The multi-layer film includes an adhesive layer arranged to secure the flexible multi-layer film and printable film to the external surface of the electronic gaming machine. The removable cover is shaped to correspond with a shape of at least a portion of the external surface of the electronic gaming machine. The printable film is configured to be imprinted with one or more of graphics, patterns, colors, text, or a combination thereof.
Abstract: An electronic gaming device including a display device operable to display a portion of a plurality of reels, and a controller. Abstract: A bill validator mount holds a bill validator in a bill insertion position relative to an electronic gaming machine (EGM), such that the bill validator is configured to receive a bill from a player in the bill insertion position. The mount cage assembly facilitates tilting the bill validator backward from the bill insertion position to a servicing position that allows access to the bill validator for servicing from a back of the EGM cabinet. The mount cage assembly additionally facilitates lowering the bill validator from the bill insertion position to a collections position, such that the cash box can be accessed for collections. The mount cage assembly provides a way to easily service the bill validator while keeping the cash box secure.
Abstract: In one aspect, gaming machines and systems are configured to distribute of viral events, such as viral gaming events, amongst devices. The devices can, for example, be gaming machines and/or mobile devices. According to one embodiment, once a viral event is triggered, it is presented at one or more first devices at a first time. Abstract: A gaming machine provides a base game, from which a hold and spin feature game is triggered when a determined number of configurable symbols are displayed in a base game outcome. When the feature game is triggered, the configurable symbols are held in place on the display one or more spins are provided during the feature game in which to collect additional configurable symbols. Any additional configurable symbols are retained on the display during subsequent spins until the feature game is completed. The player is awarded a prize based on the values carried by the configurable symbols. The gaming machine includes one or more progressive play meters that are incremented when spin award symbols are displayed in base game outcomes. When the feature game is triggered, the number of spins provided in the feature game is determined based on the value carried by one of the progressive play meters.

Abstract: Electronic gaming machines and systems are disclosed that provide for a symbol-based main game that features an array of symbol positions that may, if an array growth condition is met, increase in size. Determining whether the array growth condition is met may involve determining how many array growth symbols are shown in association with a game play. A further determination may be made as to whether a feature game trigger condition is met and, if so, a feature game may be presented that utilizes the same array of symbol positions that were present in the main game when the feature game was triggered. Additional array growth may occur in the feature game if the array growth condition is met again.

Abstract: An integrated active control system includes gaming devices, a server, and a network connecting the server and gaming devices. The gaming devices include gaming terminals and gaming tables. The integrated active control system aggregates gaming transaction information from the gaming devices and determines, for example, the effectiveness of the gaming establishment's floor configuration. Based on this effectiveness determination, at least one of the gaming devices are instructed to change their configuration. Staffing information may also be considered and reconfigured. The integrated active control system further monitors and configures gaming chips. The gaming chips are programmable, and may store monetary chip value and chip identification information. The programmable gaming chips are monitored for tracking the wagers made with the chips as well as for detecting their location.
