  • Publication number: 20180292526
Abstract: A method, device and system for generating a transformation function, mapping position detections of objects in a scene, detected with a positioning device, to a graphical representation of the scene. The teachings enable the detected positions by the positioning device to be mapped to the graphical representation of the monitored scene without the need of previous references to geographical coordinate systems for the positioning device and the graphical representation of the scene. Virtually any type of image may hence be used as a graphical representation of the scene, even hand-drawn sketches.

  • Patent number: 10091437
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a focal-length setting of a lens mounted to a camera. In a method for determining a focal-length of a lens mounted to a camera, a distorted image of a scene is captured. A distortion-correction function is applied on the distorted image or on a portion of the distorted image. A most representative distortion-correction function is identified and a current focal-length setting for the lens is identified by correlating the identification to a data compilation.

  • Patent number: 10089804
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a technology for allowing access to an area having a blocked entrance, wherein the blocking of the entrance is controlled by an access controller arranged to unblock the entrance upon receipt of an authorized credential. The technology is implemented to repeatedly updating an override credential in the access controller, sending updated override credential the access controller to a remote node, repeatedly checking the connectivity between the remote node and the access controller, detecting failure of connectivity between the access controller and the remote node, setting the override credential as an authorized credential in the access controller in response to the detection of failure of connectivity, and allowing access through the blocked entrance upon receipt of the override credential in an access request to the area received by the access controller.

  • Patent number: 10091425
Abstract: An image stabilization mechanism for a camera is provided. The mechanism comprises a movement sensor capable of sensing motion of the camera, an element in an optical path of the camera, a ball and a plate acting as a bearing allowing for the element to move in a plane orthogonal to the optical path, an actuator mechanism capable of moving the element in the plane, and a processor configured to control the actuator to move the element as a response to motion of the camera as detected by the movement sensor, thereby stabilizing images from the camera. Furthermore, the processor further is configured to move the element along a secondary motion path so as to distribute wear on the plate created by the ball, and the processor is further capable of compensating for an image shift created by the secondary motion path by other means for shifting the image.

  • Publication number: 20180278849
Abstract: A method for controlling a video camera which is configured to capture and process image frames prior to encoding. The method comprises determining whether the video camera is going to encode an image frame as an intra-frame or an inter-frame. If the image frame is going to be encoded as an inter-frame, the video camera is controlled to capture and process the image frame using first settings prior to encoding. If the image frame is going to be encoded as an intra-frame, the video camera is controlled to capture and process the image frame using second settings prior to encoding, wherein the second settings are modified in relation to the first settings to further reduce a level of noise in the image frame.

  • Publication number: 20180278953
Abstract: A method of encoding a video stream comprising receiving a frame of a video stream to be encoded, performing motion detection in the frame to identify steady regions, and temporally filtering the frame so as to provide temporally filtered pixel values. For a pixel in the steady regions of the frame, the temporally filtered pixel value is used when encoding the pixel, on a condition that the pixel belongs to a block of pixels of the frame that will be intra-coded. On a condition that the pixel instead belongs to a block of pixels of the frame that will be inter-coded, a value that was used when encoding a corresponding pixel of the immediately preceding frame is used when encoding the pixel.

  • Patent number: 10082726
Abstract: A ball joint arranged to couple an attachment part to a base part is provided. The ball joint comprises: a ball associated with said attachment part and provided with a groove having ends; a ball socket formed in the base part and provided with a recess; and a coupling element. The recess and the groove are arranged such that a respective part of a coupling element is allowed to move therein. The combined arrangement of the recess, the groove, and the coupling element allows the ball to move from a first end position to a second end position by a rotational movement of at least 360 degrees. The recess is larger than the part of the coupling element located therein.

  • Patent number: 10084972
Abstract: The present application relates to methods and systems for including sensor data from a sensor unit (108) as an overlay (204) in a video stream from a camera (106) monitoring a scene (200). The overlay has overlay regions (206a-f) corresponding to scene regions (202a-f), and when the sensor unit detects motion in a scene region a graphical element (208) is added to the overlay in the overlay region corresponding to that scene region. Video analytics procedures, such as object feature detection or motion or change detection may then be used to determine if detection has been made in a specific scene region by both the camera and the sensor unit.

  • Publication number: 20180270482
Abstract: A method of determining a maximum permissible key frame distance for use in encoding image frames in a video sequence comprising encoding a plurality of video test sequences, each video test sequence having a respective noise level, where each video test sequence is encoded using a respective quantization parameter and a plurality of key frame distances is disclosed. For each video test sequence, an output bitrate is determined for each key frame distance. For each combination of noise level, quantization parameter, and key frame distance, the determined output bitrate is stored and a maximum key frame distance at which output bitrate decreases in response to an increase in key frame distance is identified as maximum permissible key frame distance. A method of encoding image frames in a video sequence is also disclosed, as well as a system, a camera and a computer program product for performing the methods.

  • Patent number: 10075642
Abstract: In a method for image stabilization a number of operations are performed to stabilize an image and to output a focal length value. The steps include capturing video by means of a video camera with unknown focal length running an image stabilization process operating on an input from a hardware detector detecting the displacement of the camera and on an adjustable focal length value. Inter-image displacement is corrected based on the input from the hardware detector and the adjustable focal length value. By evaluating the displacement and adjusting the focal length value until a satisfactory image stabilization is achieved a value of the focal length may be output.

  • Publication number: 20180255315
Abstract: A video encoder receives a frame to be encoded and divides the current frame into blocks of pixels. For each block, a spatial variability is calculated and a cost function used to evaluate a cost for inter-coding the block of pixels is set to be dependent on the spatial variability. A ratio of a weight associated with a cost of encoding a motion vector and a weight associated with a sum of differences value is set to be lower if the spatial variability of the block of pixels in the current frame is below a first threshold compared to if the spatial variability is equal to or above the first threshold. The block is matched with a plurality of blocks in a reference frame, and a cost for inter-coding the block with reference to each of the plurality of blocks in a reference frame is evaluated according to the cost function.
