  • Patent number: 7969222
Abstract: Methods and systems for a DC offset correction loop for a mobile digital cellular television environment are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include removing at least a portion of a DC offset from output of an amplifier. The DC offset may be removed from a single stage amplifier, or from each stage of a N stage amplifier, where N may be an integer. The DC offset may be removed by using second differential signals generated from first differential signals, where the second differential signals may be communicated to inputs of the amplifier. The first differential signals may by a first circuit that integrates outputs of the amplifier. The first circuit may perform the integration using a variable corner frequency that may be adjusted by changing a resistance of at least one variable resistor in the first circuit.

  • Patent number: 7970373
Abstract: A direct sampling tuner includes a low noise amplifier and an optional dynamically configurable band pass filter coupled to the low noise amplifier. The optional filter is configured to pass a selected band of channels. The tuner further includes a relatively high accuracy, multi-bit analog-to-digital converter (“ADC”) coupled to the LNA or to the optional dynamically configurable band pass filter. The ADC operates at greater than about twice a frequency of a sampled signal. The ADC directly samples the spectrum of the selected channels at the Nyquist rate, thus avoiding image problems presented by conventional tuners.

  • Patent number: 7970733
Abstract: A method for transmitting data in an xDSL system is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the method includes defining a data transmission unit (DTU) to be sent in an xDSL data stream, defining a retransmit container as a time slot that corresponds to a sent DTU, maintaining a copy of the sent DTUs and an index of corresponding retransmit containers in retransmission buffer, transmitting the DTUs in the xDSL data stream, determining whether a transmitted DTU should be retransmitted, identifying each corrupted DTU by its corresponding retransmit container, and retransmitting an uncorrupted copy of the DTU as identified by the corresponding retransmit container. The retransmission is deferred until the DTU is at a predefined position in the retransmission buffer.

  • Patent number: 7969241
Abstract: A Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA) amplifies an input signal according to a gain, to produce an amplified signal. A detector module detects a power indicative of a power of the amplified signal. A comparator module compares the detected power to a high threshold, a low threshold and a target threshold intermediate the high and low thresholds. A controller module changes the gain of the VGA so as to drive the detected power in a direction toward the middle threshold when the comparator module indicates the detected power is not between the high and low thresholds.

  • Patent number: 7969130
Abstract: A voltage supply interface provides both coarse and fine current control with reduced series resistance. The voltage supply interface has a segmented switch having N component switches that are digitally controlled. The voltage supply interface replaces a conventional sense resistor with a calibration circuit that has a replica switch that is a replica of the N component switches. The calibration circuit includes a reference current IREF that is sourced through the replica switch. A voltage comparator forces a common voltage drop across the replica switch and the n-of-N activated component switches so that the cumulative current draw through the segmented switch is n·IREF. The current control of the voltage interface can be coarsely tuned by activating or deactivating component switches, and can be finely tuned by adjusting the reference current. The current sense resistor is eliminated so that the overall series resistance is lower.

  • Patent number: 7969911
Abstract: A hierarchical communication system, arranged in a spanning tree configuration, is described in which wired and wireless communication networks exhibiting substantially different characteristics are employed in an overall scheme to link portable or mobile computing devices. Copies of data, program code and processing resources are migrated from their source toward requesting destinations based on request frequency, communication link costs and available local storage and/or processing resources. Each appropriately configured network device acts as an active participant in network migration. In addition, portable two-dimensional (2-D) code reading terminals are configured to wirelessly communicate compressed 2-D images toward stationary access servers that identify the code image through decoding and through comparison with a database of images that have previously been decoded and stored.

  • Publication number: 20110149866
Abstract: A baseband processing module for use within a Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver includes a downlink/uplink interface, TX processing components, a processor, memory, RX processing components, and a turbo decoding module. The RX processing components receive a baseband RX signal from the RF front end, produce a set of IR samples from the baseband RX signal, and transfer the set of IR samples to the memory. The turbo decoding module receives a set of IR samples from the memory, forms a turbo code word from the set of IR samples, turbo decodes the turbo code word to produce inbound data, and outputs the inbound data to the downlink/uplink interface. The turbo decoding module performs metric normalization based upon a chosen metric, performs de-rate matching on the set of IR samples, performs error detection operations, and extracts information from a MAC packet that it produces.

  • Publication number: 20110149895
Abstract: A system for reducing the bandwidth required to transmit a data packet via a wireless network is provided. In an embodiment, the system is configured for generating a packet to be transmitted via the wireless network. Once a packet is generated, a packet type of the packet to be transmitted via the wireless network is determined. Based on the packet type, a suppression rule is selectively applied to the packet to generate a suppressed packet. Applying the suppression rule includes suppressing at least a portion of the header of the packet and adding a descriptor associated with the header suppression rule to the packet. The system is configured to conclude with the transmittal of the suppressed packet via the wireless network.

  • Publication number: 20110150499
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for synchronizing time between a centralized controller device and at least one subscriber device on a fiber access network. The control layer of a network device is expanded, and additional messaging control is added via the transmission of data frames. The expansion prevents reliance on a physical layer signal. The time synchronization also allows a time stamp to be incorporated into a message. Thus, bandwidth is not wasted by simply transmitting a time stamp by itself. In an embodiment, the centralized controller device measures the time difference between the time at which a particular ranging request is transmitted and the time at which the particular ranging request is received. The time difference represents the time adjustment value for the particular subscriber device and allows the device to synchronize its time with that of the centralized controller device.
