  • Patent number: 7940501
Abstract: A system and method relieves ESD requirements on devices in circuits of chips that are susceptible to being damaged from ESD through an external pad. For example, one of the devices can be NMOS transistors having drains (or sources) connected to the external pad(s) and no (or significantly small) current flows from their drains (or sources) to the corresponding pad(s). In order to protect such a device, an ESD protecting system is coupled between the NMOS device and the pad. The ESD protecting system can include an n-type transistor or a p-type transistor.

  • Patent number: 7941118
Abstract: A method to process DP bits and TPC bits from multiple fingers within a WCDMA rake receiver is provided. DPCH symbols are received, quantized and channel compensated. Then processing operations for individual fingers for the channel compensated quantized despread DPCH symbols containing DP bits and TPC bits are chosen based on the DPCH slot format. The DPCH symbols are processed based on the DPCH slot format in order to produce processed DPCH pilot symbols in a common format. DP bits and TPC bits may be processed in parallel by separate processing branches or in series by applying timing control to common processing modules. These processed symbols may then be combined. Other embodiments may further allow for the computation of an SNR estimate based on the combined DPCH symbols.

  • Patent number: 7940593
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and circuit for verifying the state of a gated fuse element used with a one-time programmable CMOS memory device. A first expected state is set and a state of a first gate-ox fuse is sensed. The state of the first gate-ox fuse is compared to the first expected state to determine if they are equal, and a first signal is generated. A second expected state is set and a state of a second gate-ox fuse is sensed. The state of the second gate-ox fuse is compared to the second expected state to determine if they are equal, and a second signal is generated. A valid output is generated if both the first and second signals are in a correct state, both signals are high for example.

  • Publication number: 20110105039
Abstract: A method for successive interference cancellation in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems is provided that uses variable interferer weights. This method allows interfering signals to be cancelled in order to recover a transmitted data signal. This method involves receiving the data signal subject to interference from at least one interfering signal. A first interfering signal is identified. Then an interferer weight coefficient associated with the first interfering signal is generated. This allows the first interfering signal to be cancelled from the received data signal using the interferer weight coefficient. These processes may then be reiterated for other interfering signals. It is then possible to recover the transmitted data signal from the received data signal.

  • Publication number: 20110105052
Abstract: A Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver includes a first RF transceiver group, a second RF transceiver group, local oscillation circuitry, and calibration control circuitry. Each of the RF transceiver group has an RF transmitter and an RF receiver. The local oscillation circuitry selectively produces a local oscillation to the first RF transceiver group and to the second RF transceiver group. The calibration control circuitry is operable to initiate calibration operations including transmitter self calibration operations, first loopback calibration operations, and second loopback calibration operations. During loopback calibration operations, test signals produced by an RF transceiver group are looped back to an RF receiver of another RF transceiver group.

  • Publication number: 20110103385
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for performing payload header suppression (PHS), expansion, and verification in hardware. A PHS verify circuit reads a data packet until it reaches the location where the first byte must be compared to PHS rule verify bytes. Next, all the relevant bytes in the payload header are compared to the PHS vile verify bytes obtained from a payload header suppression rule mask. Upon completion of the compare, a flag is generated to a PHS suppress circuit indicating that verification has passed or failed. For payload headers passing the verification process, the payload header suppress circuit examines the payload header suppression mask to identify one or more bits in the payload header for which an associated byte string is to be suppressed. Next, the associated byte string for each of the identified bits are suppressed to generate a suppressed packet payload header. Finally, a payload header suppression index is added to the suppressed packet payload header.

  • Publication number: 20110107175
Abstract: LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes with corresponding parity check matrices selectively constructed with CSI (Cyclic Shifted Identity) and null sub-matrices. An LDPC matrix corresponding to an LDPC code is employed within a communication device to encode and/or decode coded signals for use in any of a number of communication systems. The LDPC matrix is composed of a number of sub-matrices and may be partitioned into a left hand side matrix and a right hand side matrix. The right hand side matrix may include two sub-matrix diagonals therein that are composed entirely of CSI (Cyclic Shifted Identity) sub-matrices; one of these two sub-matrix diagonals is located on the center sub-matrix diagonal and the other is located just to the left thereof. All other sub-matrices of the right hand side matrix may be null sub-matrices (i.e., all elements therein are values of zero “0”).

  • Publication number: 20110107116
Abstract: A system and method for power over Ethernet enabled network management. An intermediary device is positioned between a computing device and a network. The intermediary device can be designed to wake up a part of the computing device (e.g., network interface) through the application of power via power over Ethernet. The transition of the part of the computing device from a sleep state to an active state can facilitate the further initiation of a management function. For example, the transition of a network interface of the computing device from a sleep state to an active state can facilitate the processing of a wake on LAN message, retrieval of information, maintenance, or other communication need.

  • Publication number: 20110105040
Abstract: A radio transceiver device includes circuitry for radiating electromagnetic signals at a very high radio frequency both through space, as well as through wave guides that are formed within a substrate material. In one embodiment, the substrate comprises a dielectric substrate formed within a board, for example, a printed circuit board. In another embodiment of the invention, the wave guide is formed within a die of an integrated circuit radio transceiver. A plurality of transceivers with different functionality is defined. Substrate transceivers are operable to transmit through the wave guides, while local transceivers are operable to produce very short range wireless transmissions through space. A third and final transceiver is a typical wireless transceiver for communication with remote (non-local to the device) transceivers.

  • Patent number: 7936778
Abstract: Certain aspects for the start-up procedure of transceivers supporting higher data rates over twisted-pair copper cabling are provided for 10 Gbit/sec Ethernet links (10GBASE-T). During a PMA (physical medium attachment) training period of the start-up procedure, long PMA training frames are exchanged periodically between link partners. A significant portion of each PMA training frame consists of known pseudo random sequences simultaneously transmitted over four wire pairs. PMA training frames include an InfoField for exchanging parameters and control information between link partners. For example, the InfoField's payload comprises fields for indicating current transmit power backoff (PBO), next PBO, requested PBO, transition count, control information, and for communicating precoder coefficients. Information in InfoFields is repeated and is not necessary that a link partner decodes every InfoField.

  • Patent number: 7936777
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention enable robust and quick parallel detection of the remote LPI request signal (rem_lpi_req) and SEND ZERO mode (SEND_Z) defined in the Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard. Embodiments do not rely on energy detection for detecting SEND_Z. Therefore, SEND_Z can be detected reliably and with minimal latency. In addition, since SEND_Z and rem_lpi_req are detected in parallel, embodiments are not concerned with the false detection of rem_lpi_req (before SEND_Z is detected) or the need to disable detection of rem_lpi_req (after SEND_Z is detected).
