  • Patent number: 9300427
Abstract: In general, the 1G-EPON standard specifies its upstream waveband broadly to allow for low cost lasers to be used to transmit upstream. Often, however, the lasers actually used by many 1G-ONUs to transmit upstream only occupy a narrow waveband that does not overlap with the upstream waveband specified by the 10G-EPON standard. The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods that exploit this fact to efficiently provide for the coexistence of 10G-EPON and 1G-EPON over the same set of optical fibers in the upstream direction.

  • Patent number: 9301209
Abstract: A system to obtain an enhanced-transport format combination (E-TFC) for transmitting a scheduling information (SI) in a soft handoff (SHO) to a serving enhanced Data Channel (E-DCH) cell in a heterogeneous Network (HetNet). The system comprises receiving an E-TFC selection power backoff (ESPB) value from an active macro-cell, the active macro-cell being the service E-DCH cell; determining the E-TFC based on an indicated power of a serving grant minus the received ESPB value and a set of E-TFC power offset value received from the active macro cell, if an MAC-e/i data PDU to be transmitted is multiplexed with the SI; otherwise, determining the E-TFC based on the indicated power of the serving grant and the set of E-TFC power offset value; and transmitting the MAC-e/i PDU to the active macro cell using the indicated power of the serving grant and an enhanced dedicated channel selected based on the determined E-TFC.

  • Patent number: 9301314
Abstract: A device with concurrent long-term evolution (LTE) and WLAN uplink transmission includes a WLAN transceiver coupled to an LTE transceiver via an interface. The LTE transceiver includes an LTE Layer-1 module that determines whether an LTE data downlink activity is scheduled for an LTE downlink sub-frame of an LTE time frame, based on information in a first portion of the LTE downlink sub-frame. When determination is made that the LTE data downlink activity is not scheduled for the LTE downlink sub-frame, a message may be communicated through the interface to notify the WLAN transceiver that the second portion of the LTE downlink sub-frame is available for WLAN communication. The LTE time frame includes multiple LTE downlink sub-frames each including the first portion and a second portion. The first portion provides the information that indicates whether the LTE data downlink activity is scheduled for the second portion of that LTE sub-frame.

  • Publication number: 20160087648
Abstract: A communication device or device includes a processor that generates and interprets signals that are transmitted and received via a communication interface. The processor receives an LDPC coded signal, via the communication interface, that is generated by puncturing at least one parity bit from another LDPC coded signal that is generated based on an LDPC code characterized by a first LDPC matrix. The processor operates on the first LDPC matrix to generate a second LDPC matrix by excluding at least one column and at least one row from the first LDPC matrix. The number of columns and rows excluded from the first LDPC matrix is based on the number of bits punctured from the other LDPC coded signal to generate the LDPC coded signal. The processor then decodes the LDPC coded signal using the second LDPC matrix to make estimates of information bits encoded within the LDPC coded signal.
