  • Patent number: 7801935
Abstract: Presented herein are system(s), method(s), and apparatus for converting unsigned fixed length codes to signed fixed length codes. In one embodiment, there is presented a circuit for converting an unsigned code to a signed code. The circuit comprises a multiplexer. The multiplexer comprises a first input, a second input, and an output. The first input receives a first value, the first value being the right shifted unsigned code plus one. The second input receives a second value, the second value being an inverse of a right shifted unsigned code plus one. The output outputs a selected one of the first value received by the first input or the second value received by the second input. The multiplexer selects the selected one of the first value or the second value based on a least significant bit of the unsigned code.

  • Patent number: 7801139
Abstract: A process of filtering packet data in a network device is disclosed. At least one mask is applied to a portion of an incoming packet and a field is extracted from the portion of the incoming packet. A rules table is searched for a matching value for the extracted field and one of a hit and a miss is recorded depending on the matching value. A combination table is accessed based on the at least one mask and the one of the hit and the miss is combined with another search result to obtain a combined search result. One of a hit action and a miss action is executed from the combination table based on the combined search result.

  • Patent number: 7801044
Abstract: A method and apparatus according to one embodiment of the invention are operable to detect the accumulation of redundant ACKs (acknowledgment signals) in a queue for streaming data packet units, and to delete a portion of the redundant ACKs to improve transmission efficiencies. In one embodiment, only the most relevant ACK is kept before the ACKs are processed for transmission. In an alternate embodiment, a ratio of defined that limits the maximum number of redundant ACKs that may be deleted. This ratio is based upon a transmission window size. The teachings of the present disclosure may also be applied to flow control in a more general sense in which a plurality of redundant signals responses are being transmitted after being aggregated.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for selecting alternate channels for broadcast radio channels, and for tracking alternate channel selections, are provided. Some radio systems provide alternate frequencies for tuned radio frequencies to use when the tuned radio frequency signal is no longer receivable. In aspects of the present invention, historical information is generated from alternate channel switching attempts. • Publication number: 20100232412
Abstract: A communication system in which multiple protocols and proxy services are executed by an access point. In one embodiment of the invention, GVRP and GMRP registrations are combined in a single packet when a wireless device roams to a different VLAN. In addition, outbound GVRP and GMRP multicast messages are handled by an access point (also referred to as a GVRP and GMRP “gateway”) such that the wireless device is not burdened with the associated computational overhead. In a further embodiment, a wireless device may dynamically switch between a VLAN-aware state and a VLAN-unaware state depending on the nature of a detected access point. For example, if a relevant access point supports GVRP, the wireless device may operate as a VLAN terminal. If a wireless device is not attached to an access point with a matching VLAN ID, the wireless device sends and receives VLAN tagged frames.

  • Publication number: 20100235665
Abstract: A system and method for enabling fallback states for energy efficient Ethernet (EEE). EEE devices can be designed to support multiple power saving states that impact layers higher than the PHY layer. Typically, these higher levels of power savings would require a greater period of time to accommodate a return to an active state. In a dynamic negotiation process, the receiving device can advertise multiple fallback power saving states to the transmitting device. The transmitting device's allocation of buffering can then determine which of the power saving states would be supported.
