  • Patent number: 7653536
Abstract: A signal processing system which discriminates between voice signals and data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier. The signal processing system includes a voice exchange, a data exchange and a call discriminator. The voice exchange is capable of exchanging voice signals between a switched circuit network and a packet based network. The signal processing system also includes a data exchange capable of exchanging data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier on the switched circuit network with unmodulated data signal packets on the packet based network. The data exchange is performed by demodulating data signals from the switched circuit network for transmission on the packet based network, and modulating data signal packets from the packet based network for transmission on the switched circuit network. The call discriminator is used to selectively enable the voice exchange and data exchange.

  • Patent number: 7653415
Abstract: A method and system for increasing data rate in a mobile terminal using spatial multiplexing for digital video broadcasting for handhelds (DVB-H) communication are provided. A reconfigurable orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) chip may be utilized in a mobile terminal to process received spatially multiplexed signals. The mobile terminal may be utilized in a spatially multiplexed multiple-input-multiple-output (SM-MIMO) wireless system. The spatially multiplexed signals may be quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulated and may utilize OFDM subcarries. A processor may be utilized to configure the OFDM chip to process signals such as IEEE 802.11 and 802.16, and DVB. The OFDM chip may generate channel weights to be applied to the spatially multiplexed signals received in multiple receive antennas. The weighted signals may be combined to generate multiple RF received signals from which channel estimates may be generated.

  • Patent number: 7653135
Abstract: A system and method that support display of video fields using related data encoded in data structures. Each data structure is associated with one video field and contains all the information associated with the display of the video field. • Publication number: 20100017688
Abstract: Performing multiple Reed-Solomon (RS) software error correction coding (ECC) Galois field computations simultaneously in a RISC processor. A means is presented by which multiple Galois field computations are performed in parallel with one another. Processor, memory, and plurality of adders and/or multipliers are implemented appropriately to allow parallel Galois field computations to be performed. Multiplexing can be performed to govern the writing of resultants (generated using the adders and/or multipliers) back to the memory via feedback paths. This approach allows for parallel (as opposed to serial) implementation of the software ECC corrections with minimal area and power impact. In other words, very little space is required to implement this approach is hardware with nominal increase in power consumption, and this slight increase in power consumption provides a significant increase in ECC correction capability using this approach.

  • Publication number: 20100014534
Abstract: End-point devices, access points and other types of network nodes each employ multi-path management software to manage communication via multiple possible paths to the Internet backbone from communication applications that run on an end-point device. Although the multi-path management software on an end-point device may operate independently, it may also cooperate with the local communication applications and the multi-path management software located on the access points or other network nodes to select one or more pathways for the local communication applications. Alternatively, the multi-path management software of an end-point device may pass all or a portion of such management responsibility to a local communication application and/or to multi-path management software of another network node. In addition to managing the selection of one or more pathways, the multi-path management software seamlessly switches pathways as may become necessary to meet changing network conditions or bandwidth demands.

  • Publication number: 20100016004
Abstract: A Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver includes a first RF transceiver group, a second RF transceiver group, local oscillation circuitry, and calibration control circuitry. Each of the RF transceiver group has an RF transmitter and an RF receiver. The local oscillation circuitry selectively produces a local oscillation to the first RF transceiver group and to the second RF transceiver group. The calibration control circuitry is operable to initiate calibration operations including transmitter self calibration operations, first loopback calibration operations, and second loopback calibration operations. During loopback calibration operations, test signals produced by an RF transceiver group are looped back to an RF receiver of another RF transceiver group.

  • Publication number: 20100013557
Abstract: Current-controlled CMOS (C3MOS) fully differential integrated wideband amplifier/equalizer with adjustable gain and frequency response without additional power or loading. A novel approach is presented by which adjustable amplification and equalizer may be achieved using a C3MOS wideband data stage. This may be referred to as a C3MOS wideband data amplifier/equalizer circuit. This employs a wideband differential transistor pair that is fed using two separate transistor current sources. A switchable RC network is communicatively coupled between the sources of the individual transistors of the wideband differential transistor pair. There are a variety of means by which the switchable RC network may be implemented, including using a plurality of components (e.g., capacitors and resistors connected in parallel).

  • Patent number: 7649382
Abstract: The present invention provides for a device to reduce the voltage swing for control signals. An input signal with a maximum potential of DVDD and minimum potential of AVSS is level shifted to a maximum potential of AVDD and a minimum potential of AVDD-DVDD. A series of control signals are generated from the level shifted input signal by standard logic cells. The shifting of the input signal reduces the voltage swing for the control signals. These control signals are then used to drive a device operating at a potential of AVDD.
