  • Patent number: 7395098
Abstract: A bias filtering module with at least two capacitive levels satisfies both a settle time requirement and a filtering requirement using a voltage dependent filter module whose capacitance is a function of a voltage potential on the filtering circuitry output terminal. The final capacitance level is approximately three times larger than the initial capacitance level. MOS capacitors having a voltage dependent charge capacity within the bias filtering module are coupled between a plurality of bias lines and circuit common. In an alternate embodiment, a selectable first group of capacitors are switched into connection within the bias filtering module as a second group of capacitors approximately reach a fully charged state within a specified settle time to provide improved filtering.

  • Patent number: 7394862
Abstract: A radio transmitter within a transceiver includes a digital processor and analog circuitry for modulating and transmitting an outgoing digital signal in multiple modes of operation. The digital processor digitally modulates the outgoing digital signal to produce one of a constant envelope modulated digital signal and a variable envelope modulated digital signal based on the particular modulation scheme being used to modulate the outgoing digital signal. In addition, the digital processor filters the outgoing digital signal using filter values selected based on the signal bandwidth of the outgoing digital signal. The analog circuitry converts digital envelope and phase signals of the modulated digital signal to analog envelope and phase signals, and up-converts the analog phase signal from an IF signal to an RF signal, using a loop filter that is programmable based on the signal bandwidth of the outgoing digital signal.

  • Patent number: 7395468
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for debugging scan testing failures of integrated circuits. The method includes identifying a bad scan path among a set of scan paths and segmenting the bad scan path into two segments. Once the bad scan path is segmented into two segments, scan tests are run to determine whether the source of errors is near the segment point. If the number of errors generated is below a threshold, the specific location of errors can be identified by tracing the errors either manually or automatically through an automated testing unit. If the source of errors is not near the segment point, the segment point is shifted based on an analysis of the errors on the good and bad scan paths. Additional scan tests are then run and the method repeated until the location of the source of errors is found.

  • Patent number: 7395099
Abstract: A method and system to determine when a wireless terminal has been paged by a servicing base station. An encoded paging burst is received on a paging channel and then decoded to produce a decoded paging burst. The decoded paging burst is processed to determine if it is a null page. When the encoded paging burst is a null page, it is processed to produce a null page pattern. The wireless terminal may then enter a sleep mode or reduced functionality mode for a predetermined period of time. The wireless terminal awakes from the sleep mode to receive additional encoded paging bursts. Processing the additional encoded paging bursts produces a processed encoded paging burst, which is compared to the null page pattern. When compared favorably, the encoded paging burst is considered a null page, allowing the wireless terminal to re-enter the sleep mode without fully decoding the paging burst.

  • Patent number: 7395487
Abstract: Common circuitry supporting both bit node and check node processing in LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) decoder. A novel approach is presented by which a decoder may use the same circuitry to perform updating of edge messages with respect to bit nodes as well as updating of edge messages with respect to check nodes in the context of decoding LDPC coded signals. In addition, several very efficient architectures are presented to performing check node processing that involves the updating of edge messages with respect to check nodes. One embodiment performs check node processing using min** (min-double-star) processing in conjunction with min**? (min-double-star-minus) processing. Another embodiment performs check node processing using min†† (min-double-dagger) processing in conjunction with min†? (min-dagger-minus) processing. In addition, a single FIFO may be implemented to service a number of macro blocks in a parallel decoding implementation.

  • Publication number: 20080151930
Abstract: Switching between communication ports of a notebook is typically accomplished using an off-chip local area network (LAN) switch or an off-chip high speed analog multiplexer. This off-chip component is disadvantageous for several reasons, including: added cost of an additional component; increased overall power consumption because transmit amplitude loss; and reduced cable reach and link performance due to hybrid mismatch and signal distortions. To reduce cost and preserve electrical and networking performance, an integrated switch is provided to multiplex signals of a networking communication chip to multiple network paths.
