  • Patent number: 4068508
Abstract: A pin tumbler cylinder lock having a plug eccentrically positioned within a cylindrical bore of a housing. Surrounding the plug are longitudinally aligned sleeve segments that together therewith form a composite plug unit that can be rotated in the housing bore by a proper key. Formed on the outer surface of each sleeve segment coincident with pinways therein are recesses that are spaced from the recesses in adjacent sleeve segments. The bottoms of the recesses form false shear levels that hinder picking operations while the side walls thereof form pin obstructions that prevent forcible axial removal of the plug and sleeve unit from the cylindrical housing. Additional security is provided between the plug and at least one sleeve segment by a mechanical coupling that prevents relative axial motion therebetween. The coupling prevents axial removal of the plug.

  • Patent number: 4069348
Abstract: A sealed package is provided wherein a plurality of quantities of product in a stack, such as cheese slices, are hermetically sealed in individual compartments by interleaf sheets which are releasably sealed to a backing board. Interleaf sheets are positioned between the respective quantities of product in the stack and releasably sealed along the marginal edge portions of the interleaf sheets to a peripheral portion of the backing board, outwardly of the edges of the quantities of product which are thereby encapsulated. The interleaf sheets can be hermetically sealed directly, respectively to the backing board in a progressive, concentric manner, or to each other with the innermost sheet sealed to the backing board, to form progressive but coincident seals. The backing board can be flat, or cup-shaped with a flange to which the interleaf sheets are sealed.

  • Patent number: 4068509
Abstract: A cylinder lock comprising a plug, with an eccentric face, a cylinder and an eccentric sleeve between the plug and cylinder. When a proper key is inserted and raises the pins to operating shear level the plug and sleeve can be turned as a unit on an axis to unlock or lock, but in the event there is a single pin restraining the rotary motion of the sleeve, only a limited plug motion is permitted as it is now in an eccentric relation with respect to the cylinder. Picking of the lock is prevented by dividing the sleeve into segments rotatable with respect to each other and providing each with circumferentially extending recesses in which tumbler pins can become ledged.

  • Patent number: 4067199
Abstract: To enable the release and consequent recovery of a support float which supports a load, e.g. a pipe, as it is lowered to the sea bed, a marker buoy is lowered with the float to be released when the load reaches the sea bed, the marker buoy having an inflated flexible envelope which is trapped in a housing fast with the float and having an opening through which the float can escape only when it has been compressed to a predetermined extent under the effects of a predetermined hydrostatic pressure. The marker buoy is connected to the float by a cable and the float is released from the load either by operations on that cable, or on a release cable connected to the float, on appearance of the marker buoy at the water surface.

  • Patent number: 4067790
Abstract: In a known method of electrolytically marking metallic articles a hood having its bottom closed by a stencil with perforations is partially filled with an electrolyte and contains a cathode. An article to be marked is brought into contact with the stencil and constitutes the anode. The invention consists in maintaining the space within the hood at a partial vacuum sufficient to cause bubbles of air which have passed through the perforations in the stencil to flow upward in the hood, thus preventing electrolyte from seeping downward through said perforations.

  • Patent number: 4068201
Abstract: A manually operated snap acting switch having contacts in a circuit connecting an electric source to an electric load. The switch has contacts operated by a toggle mechanism and includes elements and mechanisms for causing the levers of the toggle mechanism to move to a tripped position and the contacts of the switch to open whenever the current in the circuit exceeds a predetermined value or in event of a power failure of the source. The elements and mechanism causing the movement of the levers to the tripped position and an opening of the circuit in event the source has a power failure include a spring-biased lever, a solenoid, which is continuously energized by the source, and a latch which is moved to released position by the solenoid plunger when the solenoid is de-energized. The lever which causes the toggle levers to move to the tripped position is held in an inactive position by the latch and moves to an active position when the solenoid is de-energized and the latch is moved to its released position.

  • Patent number: 4066848
Abstract: A telephone ring detector circuit is provided which finds particular utility in telephone answering systems. The detector circuit responds only to ring signals on the telephone line to activate the system, and it is unresponsive to dialing pulses, or other signals, that may be present on the telephone line. The detector circuit of the invention distinguishes the ring signals from the other signals on the telephone line by counting the number of pulses present on the telephone line for the various signals and providing a ring detect output only when the number of pulses is in excess, for example, of the pulses which form the trains of the dialing signal.

  • Patent number: 4065978
Abstract: A synchronized drive and cable handling system is disclosed for a rotational element, such as a rotational gantry of a tomographic scanning machine, upon which element are carried load devices to which a medium, such as oil or electricity, is required to be supplied through the cables. A pair of spaced-apart sets of idler pulleys are disposed to either side of the rotational element with a cable being wound about the respective pulley sets to form an elongated loop, one end of each respective cable being attached to a load device which is disposed on the rotational element. One pulley set of each pair of sets is disposed about a translatable axis, the position of which is controlled by a lead screw drive to vary the distance between the pair of pulley sets and to thus vary the amount of cable which is played-out and taken-in therefrom.
