Patent number: 4054932Abstract: A solid state relay structure for use with different alternating current motors having a range of full load current and service factor ratings. The relay includes a rectangular housing and bores extending through the housing through which conductors to the motor are passed. The rear end of the housing is spaced from the panel on which the relay is mounted so the conductors may be looped through the bores when portions of the looped conductors are passed in the space between the rear end of the relay and the panel. The solid state components of the relay are encapsulated in the interior of the housing and are connected to switches, terminals, and a light emitting diode located at the front of the housing so the relay may be easily programmed for use with motors having different ratings. The terminals and operating and test instructions, located at the front end of the relay, provide a convenient arrangement for wiring the relay in its control circuit and information to program the relay.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1976Date of Patent: October 18, 1977Assignee: Square D CompanyInventors: Robert Wayne Sehmer, Joseph James Gribble, Julian Carl Kampf, James Thomas Tucker

Patent number: 4054834Abstract: Shunt means supply a diode bridge with an alternating current proportional to the AC to be measured. The bridge has at least two electroluminescent diodes which emit two alternating streams of half-wave light pulses which are supplied to two fibre optic systems. These convey the light signals to a safe distance from the high tension line where two light receptors receive the respective streams of half-wave light pulses and apply electrical signals proportional thereto to opposite inputs of a differential amplifier. The output of the amplifier is a readily measurable AC. Balancing means may be provided to compensate for any difference in the overall transmission paths for the two half-wave pulse streams. A resistive load may be provided adjacent the line to sink the current flowing through the diode bridge.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1977Date of Patent: October 18, 1977Assignee: Compagnie Generale d'Electricite S.A.Inventors: Robert Boirat, Claude Davila, Christian Moreau

Patent number: 4053779Abstract: Two scanning systems are described to X-ray sections of a body and obtain a plurality of radiographic projections suitable for reconstruction as models of the body. The transmitted X-rays are recorded in any convenient form to produce data proportional to their intensities, and the data are converted to logarithmic form, stored and processed by a computer according to a predetermined set of original algorithms. The computer calculates a two-dimensional matrix from any set of linear arrays of data which represent the projection values of a body section. Such a matrix represents an estimate or approximation of the two dimensional distribution of the absorption or transmission coefficients of the X-rayed body section. The computer outputs are used to display pictures of the X-rayed body sections in any convenient visual or numerical form.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1975Date of Patent: October 11, 1977Assignees: Robert MacMillan, Nicholas Della Grotta, Guerino D.
