    Abstract: A spout for a gasoline nozzle providing vapor control for gasoline vapor produced during the filling of a vehicle tank. The spout includes a curved rigid tube having an inlet end for attachment to an outlet of a gasoline nozzle and an outlet end adapted to extend into the mouth of a fill tube of a vehicle tank. A rigid housing surrounds the tube and has a rearward end in sealing engagement about the tube, a forward end and a vapor outlet port. The housing defines, with the wall of the tube, a vapor receiving chamber therebetween. Vapor passages are located at the forward end of the housing which communicates with the chamber and the port as well as with the vehicle tank. The forward end of the housing is supported by a sleeve having a rearward end which extends into the forward end of the housing and a forward end that extends into the fill tube of the tank, the forward end of the sleeve having openings for the receipt of vapor from the tank which communicate with said passages.

    Abstract: The braking correcting device of the hydraulic type comprises a housing in which is defined a cavity. A stepped piston is disposed movable in the cavity and has one end which projects outwards from the housing, the piston having a head slidable in a bore formed in the cavity of the housing for separating the cavity into an inlet chamber which adjoins the piston end face having the smaller effective cross sectional area, and an outlet chamber which adjoins the piston end face having the larger effective cross sectional area. The piston head contains a peripheral groove which receives with axial and radial clearance a ring of elastomeric material capable of disconnecting the two chambers when the piston moves a predetermined distance from its idle position which is fixed relative to the housing, overcoming a return force. The bore comprises a first portion having a fluid tight side wall adjoining the inlet chamber, and a second portion contiguous to the first portion and adjoining the outlet chamber.

    Abstract: Regeneration of spent hydrochloric acid after use for pickling iron, which herefore contains iron chlorides, by electrolysis in the cathodic and intermediate compartments of an electrodialysis cell. The installation includes electric circuitry for connecting up the anode as well as input conduits for the spent acid but otherwise consists essentially of an electrodialysis cell with an uneven number of compartments wherein each cathodic compartment is separated from the adjacent intermediate compartment by an anion-selective membrane while a cation-selective membrane separates each intermediate compartment from the anodic compartment, the latter being filled with an anolyte whose total Faraday yield for water oxidation is close to 1. Electrolysis is conducted with current densities at the cathode of 0.1 - 20 A/dm.sup.2, at the anode corresponding to the water oxidation reaction and at the membranes such that their perm-selectivity is close to 1.

    Abstract: A heating zone of accurately controlled length and predetermined energy profile throughout its length is formed within a focusing apparatus. An elliptical cavity is provided having a conically-configured reflector positioned such that its longitudinal axis coincides with one of the focal axes of the elliptical cavity. An elongate body is placed within the cavity such that its longitudinal axis coincides with the other focal axis. When a beam of radiant energy within a wavelength range which couples with the body to heat it, e.g., a laser beam, is directed onto the conically-configured reflector it is concentrated uniformly around the body throughout a predetermined length. The energy profile along the zone length may be varied either by adjusting the energy distribution in the energy beam prior to being reflected, by modifying the surface contour of the reflector, by modifying the contour of the walls defining the elliptical cavity or by a combination of two or more of these techniques.
