Abstract: Photostable cosmetic compositions comprising sunscreens, more particularly to cosmetic compositions comprising dibenzoylmethane sunscreens are provided. It is known that dibenzoylmethane and its derivatives are relatively sensitive to ultraviolet radiation and they decompose rapidly under the effect of sunlight. This decomposition is accelerated in the presence of UV-B sunscreens, especially p-methoxycinnamic acid and its derivatives. The present inventors have surprisingly found that cosmetic compositions comprising dibenzoylmethane or its derivative and p-methoxycinnamic acid or its derivative, can be stabilized by incorporating a combination of fatty alcohol ethoxylates and polyalkyleneglycol.
Abstract: Described herein is a protected container 10 employed to prevent soil erosion. The protected container is a geotextile container having a debris shield disposed thereon. The debris shield protects the integrity of the geotextile container by providing a strike barrier which has air and water flow capabilities. The debris shield is a composite fabric comprising a woven protective layer having abrasion resistance and a woven three-dimensional layer which provides impact dampening and energy dissipation.

Abstract: The invention relates to an improvement for applying a layered structure (1) onto a convex surface of a lens (10). After thermoforming the layered structure, a curvature direction of the layered structure is inverted. The structure is then applied on the lens surface by continuously pushing the structure (1) against the lens surface, starting from a contact point between a convex surface of the structure and the convex surface of the lens. The curvature direction of the layered structure is then inverted again, so that it recovers the curvature direction that resulted from thermoforming. Stresses within the layered structure are then reduced, and the structure can be assembled with the lens without defects.

Abstract: A device elucidates reaction dynamics of photoreactive compounds present in a region of interest (ROI) of a tissue, the ROI being submitted to a controllably-varying and spatially homogenous magnetic field. The device includes at least one electrical coil or magnet for externally applying a magnetic field to the ROI. The device further includes light sources for probing the ROI with a probe optical beam and for illuminating the ROI with an optical beam having a wavelength and power level suitable for activating the photoreactive compounds. Collectors are also provided to collect the light emitted from various photoluminescence mechanisms that occur in the optically-activated ROI when the probe beam is incident on it and then to detect the collected light over predetermined wavelength bands. Finally, a computer is used to analyze the detected light for assessing the effects of the external magnetic field applied to the ROI.

Abstract: The present invention provides a child-resistant closure for a container. The closure comprises a dispensing nozzle, a cap for the dispensing nozzle, inter-engaging formations and a resiliently deformable element. The inter-engaging formations provided on the closure hold the cap to the nozzle in an interengaged assembly thereof. The resiliently deformable element biases the cap and the nozzle apart. The inter-engaging formations comprise a retaining slot for receiving a retainer and a retainer for engagement with the retaining slot. The retaining slot, retainer and resiliently deformable element are arranged so that the cap and the nozzle are retained interengaged in the interengaged assembly by bias from the resiliently deformable element. The release of the interengaging formations is achieved by applying sufficient pressure axially to the assembly to overcome the bias of the resiliently deformable element, and sufficient turning force to move the retainer out through the opening of the retaining slot.
Abstract: A package material with a tamper evident feature and methods of manufacture thereof, are disclosed herein. The package comprises a colored primer or lacquer coating applied along a portion of a seal and further comprising a peelable sealant. When opened the peelable sealant is separated from the portion of the seal containing colored primer or lacquer and removes a section of the coating, thus providing a visual indication that the package has been opened.
