Abstract: A storage battery cell based on the principle of the oxygen cycle, having a block-shaped, gastightly sealed cell housing in which the rectangular electrode plates of different polarity are stacked. The electrode plates are electrically connected via current collector lugs to positive and negative terminal pillars of corresponding polarity passed through the wall of the same housing side. In order to achieve a longer service life of the cell, the electrode plates are arranged in parallel with the housing wall of the terminal pillars and are enclosed in an equidistant manner on all four peripheral sides of the electrode plates by the walls of the cell housing. All the electrode plates have in each case a central hole on whose inner edge the current collector lugs are mounted, the current collector lugs being routed elastically in the duct formed by the central holes to the terminal pillars of the corresponding polarity.

Abstract: A planar waveguide structure for mm-wave transmitters and receivers. The active semiconductor component elements and the planar waveguide with which they are connected of the transmitters and/or receivers are arranged on the front side of a semiconductor substrate. The rear side or surface of the semiconductor substrate is at least partially formed as an inwardly or outwardly radiating surface and is geometrically shaped such that an electromagnetic property incident or emanating radiation is altered in a predetermined manner.
Abstract: A process for determining a safety margin with respect to adhesion between tires and roadway of a travelling motor vehicle comprises, detecting longitudinal and transverse acceleration values (ax, ay), a rotational wheel acceleration value (Phi), and a dynamic steering angle value, and producing signals indicative thereof. A longitudinal adhesion value (Six) is determined as a function of the longitudinal acceleration (ax) and the rotational wheel acceleration (Phi), while a transverse adhesion value (Siy) is determined as a function of the transverse acceleration (ay) and the dynamic steering angle. Maximum attainable longitudinal and transverse acceleration values (axLIM, ayLIM) are next determined by multiplying the longitudinal and transverse acceleration values (Six, Siy) by vehicle specific coefficients (Kx, Ky) and a limit curve (aLIM), e.g., an ellipse, is established.

Abstract: The application relates to a convertible automobile with a windscreen which is arranged behind a row of seats and which extends vertically upwards and beyond the top of the seats and which extends for the entire interior width of the vehicle. In order to develop a windscreen of this type in such a way that annoying draft phenomena are prevented while the typical "convertible feel" is maintained, the windscreen is formed by a stretched elastically deformable net which causes a deceleration of the air flow impinging from the rear of the vehicle towards the front.
Abstract: An interengaging clutch comprises first and second rotatable clutch halves, the first clutch half being a driven clutch element connected to a first wheel drive train and being movable along an axial direction, the second clutch half being a driving clutch element and being connected to a main drive train and to a second wheel drive train. The clutch halves have circumferentially disposed dogs or teeth with intermeshing contact surfaces for engaging the clutch halves together so that torque can be transmitted from the second clutch half to the first clutch when they are interengaged and rotating at different rotational speeds. Connected to the first clutch half is a unidirectional servo component which is pressure actuated on one side only so as to move the first clutch half into engagement with the second clutch. The interengaging clutch further includes first and second rotational speed sensors which produce signals indicative of the rotational speeds of the clutch halves.
Abstract: A device for signal path control in a motor vehicle permits the reception or the transmission of signals from or to a multiplicity of electronic units via a cable with a small number of line conductors. The device is universally applicable and is suitable for both on-board and off-board applications. Its robustness makes it suitable also for diagnostic systems in motor vehicles.
Abstract: A viscous shear coupling for distributing torque between front and rear axles of an all-wheel drive vehicle is provided which comprises a housing, a set of inner blades interdigitating with a set of outer blades, the inner and outer blades being axially spaced apart from each other and axially slidably mounted within the housing, a viscous liquid located within the housing, an adjusting piston within the housing which is axially displaceable so as to adjust the axial distance between adjacent inner and outer blades. The viscous shear coupling further includes a control pressure circuit for delivery of a control pressure fluid to the adjusting piston, a control valve for regulating the delivery of the control pressure fluid to the adjusting piston, and a control device (e.g., a microprocessor) which calculates a desired adjusting piston speed based on driving conditions and adjusts a valve current delivered to the control valve in order to obtain the desired adjusting piston speed.

Abstract: A device for evaluating periodic signals from inductive pick-ups compensates for the lag of the pick-up signal. This lag increases with increasing frequency as a consequence of the inductance of the pick-up, with respect to the position of a movable part that is to be scanned by the said pick-up. The relative time shift in the evaluation edge of the pick-up signal, which is phase-compensated via the frequency, is compensated for via changes in the amplitude of the pick-up signal.

Abstract: A process is provided for disintegration and pure-sorted separation of different plastics of composite structural parts to be recycled, which parts consist of a support composed of thicker-walled hard plastic, an intermediate layer applied with firm adhesion to this support and composed of foam material, and a flexible foil adhering firmly to the outside of the intermediate layer and made thinner-walled than the support. The composite structural parts are first comminuted into approximately cuboid particles preferably of a granulation of approximately 20 mm and comprising still different plastics. Subsequently, the particles formed are disintegrated in a dry manner into their individual materials, and these are then separated in a pure-sorted manner. For this purpose, the less break-resistant foam material of the particles is selectively comminuted mechanically by an impact stressing of the particles to form substantially smaller crumbs than the remaining pieces of particles of more break-resistant plastic.

Abstract: An integrated-optics extension interferometer, in which the measuring and reference arm, the beam splitter and the beam coupler as well as entrances and exits for primary light and interference light are integrated in the baseplate, can be applied in the manner of a wire strain gauge to components to be investigated. The portions of the waveguide which form the measuring and reference arm are integrated over their entire length in the baseplate, and are disposed in a plurality of loops with mutually parallel oriented straight active partial sections and intermediate deflecting sections, in which a coupling free mutual minimum spacing of all straight active partial sections and deflecting sections of the integrated waveguides forming the measuring and reference arm respectively is observed at all locations.
Abstract: A collapsible truck cab suitable for military use, especially by airborne combat units, comprises a box-like structure including side walls, side doors, a front wall, and a rear wall, each of which is divided into upper parts and lower parts, and a removable roof of high flexural and torsional stiffness. The upper parts of the wall panels are connected to the lower parts by hinges so that the cab can assume a collapsed position by removing the roof and swinging the upper parts down. A plurality of attachment elements, such as quick action latches, are distributed throughout the cab and are used to snap the wall panels and the roof together. Centering cones and centering troughs are also distributed on contact faces of the roof and the wall panels so that precise alignment of the parts is not required.
Abstract: A process for determining the wheel slip of individual wheels of a vehicle by time sequentially measuring the speeds of a particular wheel without braking force applied and with braking force applied.
Abstract: A process for compensating systematic errors of an acceleration sensor. The result of a sliding average of the output of the accelerometer, determined when acceleration in the primary measurement direction is zero, is subtracted from the output of the accelerometer thus producing a signal representative of acceleration only in the primary direction. A functional check of the accelerometer is provided by aligning the accelerometer in a second direction and comparing the acceleration measured in this second direction to the acceleration measured in the primary direction by a second device for determining acceleration and indicating a malfunction when the two measured accelerations are different and it is determined that acceleration only in the primary direction is present.

Abstract: A partial stiffening of a covering of a folding top is provided by a wide tension-belt element which is stretched between two supporting structure members of the folding top and which, extending underneath the stretched folding-top covering, bears supportively against the folding-top covering on the wide side. The tension-belt element can be used for stiffening a zone of the folding-top covering curved transversely relative to its longitudinal extension, the side of the tension-belt element facing the folding-top covering has, at two spaced supporting locations, a contour matched to the intended transverse curvature of the folding-top covering. Supporting forces are transmitted by a spring prestress directed towards the folding-top covering.
Abstract: A heat exchanger, especially a heating heat exchanger in the engine cooling circuit of a motor vehicle is disclosed. A forward-flow pipe opens at the top into a water box. A vent line of small cross-section is assigned to the forward-flow pipe and is guided to a compensating tank and there terminates below the liquid level. In order to obtain a simply constructed and at the same time highly effective venting facility, the vent line is brought into the operative position together with the fastening of the forward-flow pipe and is guided away from the highest point of the forward-flow water box to the compensating tank located at a distance therefrom.
Abstract: A switch group for the remote control of a vehicle seat adjustable via actuating drives, having two switching elements, which symbolize a seat cushion and a backrest of the vehicle seat, are held in a position relative to one another which corresponds to the use position of the seat, and are arranged so as to be accessible from above on a bearing surface which the user of the seat can reach. The switching element symbolizing the seat cushion is mounted on a horizontal surface portion of the bearing surface. To make the switch group highly suitable for expansion by additional control functions, the bearing surface for the switch group merges behind the switching element symbolizing the seat cushion into a surface portion angled obliquely upwards.

Abstract: An igniting device for protective devices in vehicles has a pyro-electric igniting element which is associated with an electronic lock and a controlled switch for releasing the application of current to the igniter, and can be combined in an integral component. The application of an igniting signal leads to current being applied to the igniting element only after transmission of an unlocking signal to reliably prevent an unwanted triggering of ignition, for example by accidental application of an external voltage to the connections of the igniting device. The reactive igniting substance can be directly connected to a silicon chip which monolithically implements the electronic lock and the controlled switch.
