Abstract: A liquid friction coupling is disclosed, which comprises a housing, which constitutes one coupling part and is filled with a viscous liquid, a shaft, which protrudes into the housing and constitutes the other coupling part, interdigitating disks, which are nonrotatably connected in alternation to the housing and to the shaft, respectively, and spacers disposed between the disks. In order to improve the torque characteristic during an operation involving liquid friction and to achieve a steeper rise of the hump torque, each of the outer or inner disks entirely or in part tends to exhibit a thermal deformation in an axial direction and a spacer ring is provided between each inner disk and an outer disk of an adjacent pair of disks.
Abstract: A front region of a motor vehicle has two front headlight groups and air inlet openings for the engine compartment, as well as a movable cover for both the front headlight groups and the air inlet openings. The air inlet openings are arranged above and/or below each front headlight group. At least one movable cover is provided for each arrangement consisting of a front headlight group and air inlet openings.
Abstract: An apparatus for determining crosswind effects on motor vehicles has arranged on the vehicle two differential pressure sensors which are each connected via two conduits to two openings at the outside of the vehicle and record the pressure difference which occurs between the connected conduits or the associated openings. From this, it is possible for the angle of incidence and the dynamic pressure of the crosswind to be determined by a computer.

Abstract: A transverse guide roller for track-guidable buses effectively prevents the access water to the rotational bearing of such rollers housed rotatably in a horizontal plane. To this end, the rotational bearing is accommodated in a bearing bell which covers the rolling bearing arrangement in a protective and sealing manner. The wheel body has essentially the shape of a cup with an upwardly pointing opening and with a bearing journal projecting from the cup bottom. The rolling bearing is fixed on the bearing journal with the inner ring as a rotating rolling bearing ring. The cup bottom has, at its lowest point, several discharge orifices for the unhindered discharge of water which may have penetrated.
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for the simple removal of liquid condensate, in particular of water of condensation, from compressed-air systems alternately subjected in operation to positive pressure and atmospheric pressure. The compressed-air system is first of all connected for a limited period, at intervals or after each subjection to positive pressure, to a vacuum generator in order to promote re-evaporation of the condensate and is evacuated by the latter before atmospheric pressure is passed in or let in again. In certain embodiments, a highly restricted reverse flow through the compressed-air system is permitted. The method is particularly suitable for use in small-volume compressed-air systems which do not have to be permanently subjected to positive pressure, e.g., in pneumatic door-closing aids for motor cars.
Abstract: A camshaft, especially for high-power internal-combustion engines, has bearing points and cams consisting of a base circle and a cam face. The bearing points and cams are connected to one another by non-cylindrical shank portions. In order to increase the bending resistance of the camshaft and, at the same time, to provide a predetermined necessary clearance for machining tools, a shank portion between two cams is made barrel-shaped, with a maximum diameter which is located in the middle region of the shank portion and which is equal to or less than the diameter of the base circle.

Abstract: A seat belt buckle monitor switch has a cooperative circuit for indicating the closed state of a seat belt buckle in a motor vehicle. Due to high-grade monitorability, it has a high sensory reliability. The device is structurally designed such that it allows an operation of additionally provided circuit elements in at least one monitoring current loop. If a contact element is at an erroneous potential due to interruption of a current path outside or inside the switching component, this is detected in the test circuit.
Abstract: The wheel carrier of an independent wheel suspension for steerable wheels of motor vehicles is pivotal about a steering axis which is so inclined that the steering point in a plan view on the wheel suspension is located outside of the point of contact of the wheel with the road. In order to prevent that with dynamic wheel load fluctuations about the steering axis, a moment pivoting the wheel carrier can occur which is customarily transmitted by way of the steering arm and steering tie-rod to the steering wheel and which has to be braced by muscle force, a wheel guide member is formed by two individual guide links which extend arrow-shaped in the direction toward the wheel carrier and are cardanically supported.
Abstract: The invention relates to a sloping-edge-controlled fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, in particular as a direct injector for commercial vehicles. A cam-operated pump plunger, defining the pump working chamber and having an upper control edge effecting the start of delivery and a lower sloping control edge effecting the end of delivery, is guided axially and in a rotationally movable manner in the pump cylinder and has two peripheral grooves which, with two bypasses in the pump cylinder, interrupt the delivery, each bypass, in the projection perpendicular to the axis of the pump cylinder, partly overlapping feed bores arranged in the pump cylinder.
Abstract: An all-wheel steering control or regulating device for vehicle rear wheel steering, which is motor-driven and permits any desired predeterminable steering angles of the rear wheels as a function of the steering angles of the front wheels or other parameters. In the event of error detection in the system, a drive motor of the rear wheel steering is switched to an inoperative condition and a hydraulic positive coupling between front wheel steering and rear wheel steering is simultaneously established by means of separate piston-cylinder units, with the result that the rear wheels are steered simultaneously with the front wheels.

Abstract: A cartridge comprises a cartridge case having a bottom, a top, and a hollow interior, the top being open and receiving a projectile, and the hollow interior containing a propellant charge. A metal ignition tube extends from a primer cap on the bottom of the cartridge case for about one-third the length of the cartridge case. The metal ignition tube terminates in an open end. A detonating agent is contained within the metal ignition tube, but does not completely fill it. An empty channel is formed in the propellant charge and extends from the open end of the metal ignition tube to within proximity of the projectile. Preferably, the empty channel is constituted by a closed tube having walls made from a combustible material. When the cartridge is fired, a darting flame is produced in the metal ignition tube which passes through the open end unhindered into the empty channel, thereby igniting all of the propellant charge surrounding the channel practically simultaneously.
Abstract: A soot burn-off filter including a monolithic filter block made of porous ceramic with a multiplicity of channels which extend in the direction of flow of the exhaust gases of a combustion engine. The channels are sealed alternately at the ends by plugs and are separated from one another by porous partition walls. The partition walls are provided with a catalytic coating and have an increased flow resistance in a region at the downstream end of the filter, the partition walls in this region being of gastight design and the catalytic coating of the partition walls ending in a region upstream of the gastight region of the partition walls.
Abstract: An electronic speed governor for an air-compression internal-combustion engine that has an electronic control unit which detects numerous operating values of the automobile. The speed governor forms a control signal from these operating values as well as from stored limit values, and shifts smoke-limit curves as a function of altitude so that the fuel mass is corrected in accordance with keeping the smoke emissions constant.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an end connector for coupling at least two shielded cables having a plurality of cores, i.e., insulated wires, in such a way that the cables and the cores of the cables are insulated from one another at the connection point. An insulating body defines one or more insulating chambers into which the cables are guided. Desired cores of the cables are electrically coupled at end connection points of the insulating chambers. A cap is coupled to the insulating body to cover the coupled cores. The cap has a metallic outer surface and a hole. The shields of the cables are guided through the hole and electrically coupled to the outer surface.
Abstract: An adjustment for vehicle shock absorbers provides for a variable difference between a damping coefficient for the tension stroke and the damping coefficient for the compression stroke. In response to constant short-stroke oscillations of the wheels caused by unevenness of the road, a particular shock absorber generates a force on the vehicle body, the amount of which depends on the difference. By an appropriate control of the forces from the shock absorbers, pitching and rolling movements of the body can be counteracted.
Abstract: A device for supplying power to an electronic computer in a motor vehicle has first and second voltage regulators, operable independently of one another and having parallel inputs and outputs, and in which a desired output voltage is regulated downwards from an input voltage provided by a vehicle network. The first and second regulators each include at least one capacitive storage element at their inputs. A protective device is coupled to the inputs of the first and second regulators for connecting and disconnecting the first and second regulators from the input voltage. A voltage monitoring circuit is coupled to the first and second regulators and the protective device for detecting and evaluating the input voltage and includes at least one output each for individually controlling activation of the first and second regulators and the protective device.
