  • Patent number: 4778224
Abstract: A brake unit for a road vehicle with a hydraulic dual-circuit brake system having two master cylinders, the brake booster and elements for antilock and/or propulsion or slip control in a common housing. A brake booster drive cylinder which can be subjected to the outlet pressure, proportional to the pedal travel, of a brake valve, is arranged between static master cylinders. Coupled to the piston of the drive cylinder is a pivotable rocker, the arms of which are each supported on one of the master cylinder pistons via tappet. Assigned to at least one of the master cylinders is a regulating cylinder having an opposed piston which can be supported on the piston of the master cylinder and which, when subjected on one side to the outlet pressure of the auxiliary pressure source of the brake booster, causes the piston of the master cylinder to be returnable towards its basic position counter to the actuating force exerted on it.

  • Patent number: 4776641
Abstract: To protect brake fluid against evaporation under extreme braking conditions, the brake fluid contained in the wheel brake cylinders is kept at a minimum pressure between 5 and 10 bar even after completion of a braking operation, thereby increasing the boiling point of the brake fluid. The wheel brake cylinders are designed as stepped cylinders with a counterpressure space, into which a likewise constantly kept counterpressure can be introduced, which maintains equilibrium with the admission pressure prevailing in the inlet pressure space of the respective wheel brake cylinder. A non-return valve arrangement, connected between the brake booster and the inlet pressure spaces of the wheel brake cylinders, blocks the return of the brake fluid to the brake booster when the pressure differential between the wheel brake cylinders and the brake booster drops below a threshold value P.sub.S.

  • Patent number: 4776444
Abstract: A device for the shifting of a multi-disk clutch for the locking of a transfer differntial for the drive of two vehicle axles of a motor vehicle, wherein the multi-disk clutch is engaged by means of the force of a spring and is released by means of an axial piston that can be acted upon by working pressure. The axial piston acts upon the set of disks via a pressure ring that, with respect to the disk carrier of one half of the clutch, is fixed in the direction of the clutch axis pointing away from a first counterbearing of the set of disks by a second counterbearing. The first counterbearing of the set of disks is coupled with the disk carrier by means of an adjusting arrangement that works toward displacing the first counterbearing by an additional spring force toward the pressure ring along the clutch axis.

  • Patent number: 4775034
Abstract: A floating-caliper disc brake is designed to prevent both tangential and radial oblique wear of the brake linings, especially under high brake stress. To achieve this, the floating caliper, which is guided displaceably on a brake carrier in the direction of the disc axis and carries a brake piston and which engages over the brake disc, forms a frame which in the transitional region of the transverse frame leg on the run-out side, extending in the direction of the disc axis, and of the longitudinal frame leg supported on one brake pad is more pliant than in the transitional region between the longitudinal frame leg and the transverse frame leg located on the run-in side. The brake piston is arranged in the frame so as to be offset in the forward direction of rotation of the brake disc relative to the surface center of gravity of the brake pad actuable by the said brake piston, and the longitudinal frame leg supported on one brake pad extends level with the brake piston.

  • Patent number: 4770651
Abstract: A shaft coupling comprises two coupling members, which are connected or adapted to be connected to respective shafts. One of the two coupling members is provided on a coupling face with an even number of bores, which have a uniform angular spacing and are either parallel to the axis of rotation of the coupling or radial with respect to said axis.
