  • Patent number: 4826257
Abstract: An anti-blocking system for a road vehicle having a hydraulic service brake installation constructed as a dual-circuit brake installation with a front axle/rear axle brake circuit distribution which is adjustable to different values m.sub.1 and m.sub.2 of the front axle/rear axle braking force distribution, whereby the one value m.sub.1 corresponds to a braking force distribution optimized in the sense of driving stability and the other value corresponds to a relatively higher value of the rear axle braking force proportion. As long as the regulation is effective only at the rear axle, this anti-blocking system operates according to the principle of keeping a braking slippage .lambda..sub.H occurring in the rear axle brake circuit within the range of values delimited by the relation .lambda..sub.V +.DELTA..lambda..ltoreq..lambda..sub.H .ltoreq..lambda..sub.V +.DELTA..lambda. in relation to a braking slippage .lambda..sub.V occurring in the front axle brake circuit, whereby .DELTA..lambda.

  • Patent number: 4827213
Abstract: An apparatus including at least two electrodes determining two intervals of distance of a body relative to movable objects and activated by a respective high voltage pulse generator, wherein the spark discharges occur either along measurement spark paths or reference spark paths between the electrodes and the object. A sensor in the circuit of the reference spark paths detects a spark discharge occurring along the reference spark paths and generates an impulse which is processed in an evaluation unit to form an adjustment signal as a function of the interval of distance, to adjust the body connectable to the apparatus relative to the object to correct the corresponding interval of distance. Either only one reference electrode is associated with both the high voltage electrodes, or the high voltage electrodes alternately assume the function of the reference electrode, in order to form the reference spark paths.

  • Patent number: 4826226
Abstract: A bumper for a motor vehicle with a support part which, supports and separates an impact-near and an impact-remote layer of energy-absorbing form. The supporting part is held by resilient holders on a support fixed to the vehicle. A panelling covers the impact-near layer towards the front and is fixed to the support part. A skirt adjoins toward the bottom. In order to increase the absorbency and retain a pedestrain-protective configuration, the support part is designed as a stiff load distributing support and the panelling is fastened to it and merges integrally with the skirt.

  • Patent number: 4823645
Abstract: An arrangement for adjusting the torque of an internal combustion engine which drives a change-speed gear box and automatic gear changing device in dependence on stored characteristics with specified variation of required torque value as a function of power demand in which at least two different gears are each associated with an individual stored characteristic. Switch-in signals, derived from the gear changing device and which initiate switching of a stored characteristic into an adjustment element which influences the torque, contain information on a gear to be selected. Engine power is at least approximately constant for each engine operating point in engine characteristic field when changing between two associated stored characteristics for the required torque value. An adjustment element is controlled by the switch-in stored characteristic until the gear changing device switches to the gear having a different associated stored characteristic.

  • Patent number: 4824185
Abstract: A hydraulic dual-circuit braking system comprising two main cylinders combined in twin-type construction which is actuated via a torque-equalized rocker operated by an actuating force proportional to brake pedal force, and wherein the main cylinders have position transmitters to detect piston positions, which are indirectly a measure of the brake pressure, and wherein an anti-blocking system enables the front wheel brakes to be blocked off from their main cylinders. The position signals are used by an electronic processing unit to determine the instantaneous front axle/rear axle braking force distribution, and compares this with a value which is ideal in accordance with the vehicle data, and when this comparison shows that the rear axle braking force component is too low, the front-wheel brakes are blocked off from their main cylinders until the rear axle braking force component is increased to such an extent that the ideal braking force distribution has been almost achieved.

  • Patent number: 4824363
Abstract: A process and equipment for removing toxic and malodorous gases from the fresh air for vehicle cabins by catalytic oxidation, the process being based on passing the fresh air over a heating-system heat exchanger, the heat-emitting surfaces of which form the support for an oxidation catalyst. The heat exchanger used is the heating-system heat exchanger which is present in virtually all motor vehicles. In contrast to known solutions for purifying the fresh air, for example by means of activated carbon, the process is maintenance-free and does not require any additional constructional volume.

  • Patent number: 4822228
Abstract: In a quick-action connection for retaining an insertion part in an orifice of a carrier, for example a holding nipple in a body wall, there is, in a peripheral groove of a tenon-shaped extension piece of the insertion part, a retaining ring resiliently flexible in the radial direction, which has its largest diameter in the inserted state of the insertion part. The retaining ring partially projects beyond the periphery of the extension piece and is supported on the carrier by means of one of its end faces. So that the retaining ring is capable of guaranteeing a reliable mutual connection of the two parts, even when bending moments are exerted on the insertion part inserted into the carrier orifice with a clearance fit, its annular shell is closed in the peripheral direction and extends in the form of a meander. As a result of this ring design, the retaining ring can be compressed radially in order to introduce the insertion part into the carrier orifice, and after insertion it automatically springs open again.

  • Patent number: 4821018
Abstract: In a direction indicator and hazard warning device for motor vehicles, a time sequence control is provided, which, during hazard warning operation with a closed driving/ignition switch, allows direction indicator signals to be superimposed and, when the direction indicator signals are switched on, the hazard warning signal to be superimposed. The signal first selected is automatically generated once again after the added signal has been switched off. If, however, the driving/ignition switch is closed with the hazard warning switch and the direction indicator switch closed, the device causes the hazard warning signal to continue to be generated.

  • Patent number: 4820168
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrically conductive connection between abutting single sections of conductor rails. This connection is made by means of a current conduction cable consisting of bunched conductors and contact shoes. However, in order to be able to accommodate the current conduction cable within the cross-sectional contour of the conductor rails, the cable shoes are in each case constructed in the form of a cylindrical or prismatic connector pin which can be inserted into an opening of corresponding shape within the conductor rail. In most cases, such openings exist in any case in the conductor rails after these have been produced as a hollow section in an extrusion process. The connector pins are suitably of hollow construction and accommodate in their interior the bunched conductor which is only loosely enclosed by it. As a result, the bunched conductor can open out as a result of compression during a relative longitudinal movement of the connector pins.
