Abstract: This disclosure describes related novel methods for Recombinase-Polymerase Amplification (RPA) of a target DNA that exploit the properties of recombinase and related proteins, to invade double-stranded DNA with single stranded homologous DNA permitting sequence specific priming of DNA polymerase reactions. The disclosed methods have the advantage of not requiring thermocycling or thermophilic enzymes, thus offering easy and affordable implementation and portability relative to other amplification methods. Further disclosed are conditions to enable real-time monitoring of RPA reactions, methods to regulate RPA reactions using light and otherwise, methods to determine the nature of amplified species without a need for gel electrophoresis, methods to improve and optimize signal to noise ratios in RPA reactions, methods to optimize oligonucleotide primer function, methods to control carry-over contamination, and methods to employ sequence-specific third ‘specificity’ probes.

Abstract: A method for collecting and processing remotely sensed imagery in order to achieve precise spatial co-registration (e.g., matched alignment) between multi-temporal image sets is presented. Such precise alignment or spatial co-registration of imagery can be used for change detection, image fusion, and temporal analysis/modeling. Further, images collected in this manner may be further processed in such a way that image frames or line arrays from corresponding photo stations are matched, co-aligned and if desired merged into a single image and/or subjected to the same processing sequence. A second methodology for automated detection of moving objects within a scene using a time series of remotely sensed imagery is also presented. Specialized image collection and preprocessing procedures are utilized to obtain precise spatial co-registration (image registration) between multitemporal image frame sets.

Abstract: A MAC design for Ku-band mobile wireless mesh network with multi-beam smart antennas is disclosed. This MAC includes an overlay control that separates the collision domain. It also has lower layer CSMA-like scheme. The disclosed design includes an enhanced PCF and an enhanced DCF for two purposes: (1) exploiting multi-beam concurrent communication capability (2) supporting QoS and mission-based communications. An efficient time synchronization scheme is also disclosed to ensure all beams can concurrently send data to the star node. Finally, ARMA or HMM based prediction schemes are disclosed to predict future traffic profile in each beam. This helps the star node to better prepare the queue content and schedule information.

Abstract: As part of an integrated banking platform, an internet banking platform includes a banking server, a processor, and a memory module. The memory module includes stored computer program code. The memory module, the stored computer program code, and the processor are configured to cause the banking server to receive access to a rewards program server associated with a rewards account platform. Further, the server is caused to receive enrollment information associated with a user, and to connect to the rewards program server. The server is also caused to transmit an enrollment request message to the rewards program server. The enrollment request message includes at least a subset of the enrollment information. Additionally, the server is caused to receive an enrollment response message that indicates whether the user has been enrolled in a rewards account maintained by the rewards account platform.
Abstract: Enables a coffee making apparatus with a froth spoon and at least one impeller configured to enable users to make a cup of coffee, agitate the coffee grounds with the at least one impeller, for example before or after as the plunger is pushed to the bottom of the carafe. Embodiments thus enable a user to make additional froth, pour out the coffee into a cup, and after the cup is filled to the desired level, spoon out froth over the coffee with the froth spoon without pouring excess coffee into the cup.
Abstract: A delivery system and method for a brewed beverage, such as coffee or tea, that stores a batch of brewed beverage in a cooled container, and heats a serving quantity on demand at the point of dispensing. A heater such as a tankless water heater may be connected to a dispensing line to generate hot servings on demand. Cold servings may also be provided. Quality control of the brewing process may be improved by brewing in a centralized, controlled environment and then shipping cooled containers to dispensing points such as coffee shops or cafés. Containers may be filled with a gas such as nitrogen to prevent oxidation, thereby preserving freshness during storage or shipping. At the dispensing site, containers may be refrigerated and attached to gas tanks to maintain the freshness as servings are dispensed.

Abstract: This application relates to techniques for obtaining wide area intermittent video (WAIV). Some embodiments disclosed herein include a method of obtaining WAIV. The method can include, for example, capturing images at a series of sensor stations having pre-determined locations along a flightline. The flightline can be repeated one or more times, where images are captured at the same sensor stations with each pass of the flightline. The captured images from the same sensor station may have replicated view geometry and may be co-registered and precisely aligned with pixel-level precision. The captured images from multiple sensor stations through time may also be displayed together based upon absolute or relative sensor station locations to create a temporal sequence of wide area intermittent video. The approach provides efficient methods for creating wide area video with reduced temporal imaging frame rates. Systems and devices for forming wide area intermittent video are also disclosed.
