  • Publication number: 20040226652
Abstract: A method of producing a liquid crystal display device. A first substrate having a liquid crystal dripped thereon, and a second substrate, are arranged in a vacuum chamber. The first substrate is held by a first electrostatic chuck and the second substrate is held by a second electrostatic chuck. The second substrate is urged onto the first substrate to bond the first substrate and the second substrate together. The bonded first and second substrates are then peeled off from the electrostatic chucks. A resin sheet is arranged on the second electrostatic chuck, so that the bonded first and second substrates do not cluig to the second electrostatic chuck when peeled off.

  • Patent number: 6819392
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display utilizing the dispense-injection method, and it is an object of the invention to provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display which allows an optimum quantity of liquid crystals to be dispensed on each substrate. At a dispense-injection step, in the case of a two-shot process for fabricating two liquid crystal display panels from a single glass substrate, the heights of support posts on two CF substrates having columnar spacers formed thereon are measured at a plurality of points (e.g., five locations) on each of the surfaces using a laser displacement gauge and an average value of the height is obtained. The support post height of the columnar spacers is thus measured in advance to control the quantity of dispensed liquid crystals based on the measured value.

Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal panel capable of maintaining a cell gap and preventing generation of air bubbles. In the liquid crystal panel having a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a color filter (CF) substrate and a thin film transistor (TFT) substrate, recesses formed at respective locations of contact holes each for connecting a drain metal layer and a pixel electrode to each other are filled with respective hole-filling columnar layers. At the same time, the cell gap between the CF substrate and the TFT substrate is maintained by cell gap-maintaining columnar layers. The columnar layers are simultaneously formed by subjecting a photosensitive resin to exposure and development. As a result, a reliable liquid crystal panel which does not suffer from air bubbles remaining in the recesses formed at the locations of the contact holes, and capable of effectively maintaining the cell gap with high productivity at low costs.
