Abstract: The present invention relates to anti-plaque mouthwash compositions that contain a zinc salt and Triclosan as the anti-plaque system. According to the present invention effective, clear and stable mouthwash compositions with a zinc salt and Triclosan and a humectant system can be obtained with a water level of more than 60% by weight, if the compositions further comprise a surfactant system that comprises a mixture of a nonionic and an anionic surface-active agent. It is essential that the nonionic surface-active agent should be of the type H-(O-CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.a -(O-CH(CH.sub.3)CH.sub.2).sub.b -(O-CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.a -OH and should be present in an amount of from 0.5-3% by weight of the composition. The amount of the anionic surface-active agent in the compositions of the present invention should be such, that the weight ratio of the nonionic to the anionic surfaceactive agent ranges from 4-35, preferably from 5-20.

Abstract: A histamine diagnostic assay device is provided in which glass microfibers treated with a polar organic polymer are deposited onto a carrier and used to selectively bind histamine in a sample. The polar organic polymer reduces the affinity of the glass microfibers for interfering components of the sample while substantially retaining the histamine-binding capacity. Preferably, the glass microfibers are provided as a conglomerate with the polar organic polymer. An agent which induces the release of histamine from cells in the sample may be included in the device.
Abstract: The invention comprises liquid, non-aqueous compositions comprising: liquid nonionic surfactant in an amount of 25 to 75% by weight; having suspended therein 20 to 75% of solid particulate material with a surface weighted mean particle size in the range 1 to 100.mu. which comprises a combination of i) from 5 to 72% by weight of one or more salts which form hydrate(s) stable at 20.degree. C. but are present in an anhydrous or incompletely hydrated state, together with ii) from 3 to 70% by weight of one or more salts which has no stable hydrate at 2.degree.0 C. The combination of hydratable and non-hydratable salts enhances suspending properties while inhibiting excess gelling.

Abstract: A window blind of the type having a headrail, bottom rail and an expandable and contractable shade between the headrail and bottom rail. An elongated wand has an upper end mounted on the headrail and a flexible operating cord is formed into an endless cord operating loop and guided by loop guides in a closed loop path extending through the headrail and the wand passage. Lift cords are attached to the bottom rail and extend from the bottom rail into the headrail and the lift cords are connected to the endless operating loop. A cord lift handle member is mounted for movement along an outer side of the wand and has cord grip mechanism for gripping a portion of the endless cord operating loop to move the operating loop in a direction to raise the bottom rail when the handle member is moved in one direction along the wand. A cord lock is provided for releasably retaining the bottom rail in selected raised positions.

Abstract: Carboxylic polymers useful in detergent compositions contain keto structural units incorporated into the polymer backbone. The units may be introduced by means of the compound 2,2'-diphenyl-4-methylene-1,3-dioxolane. The polymers show better biodegradability than the acrylic and acrylic/maleic polymers commonly used in detergent compositions, while the detergency building (calcium binding) is comparable or better.
