Abstract: A closure accommodating internal pressure build-up in a container. The closure includes a cover, the top wall of which which is provided with a small orifice. A flexible plastic film lid or patch is sealed over the orifice by sealant such as adhesive or heat-seal. The patch may also be sealed by welding. The sealant may be pressure sensitive. When pressure within the container reaches a predetermined level, a small channel will form in the patch and gases will be released. The orifice may include pre-formed V-shaped venting notches in its top edge to direct gas-pressure.

Abstract: A method for fabricating, and a resulting structure for, a seamless, reusable and collapsible mandrel suitable for forming a plurality of seamless and hollow fiber wound vessels upon is disclosed. A destructible mandrel is used to form the seamless reusable mandrel. The destructible mandrel is preferably formed from a material which can be destroyed by dissolving, for example, materials such as foam or plaster. The seamless, collapsible, and reusable mandrel includes a plurality of different layers including a gas impermeable layer, a continuous fiber wound layer, and a release surface forming the outermost layer of the seamless, collapsible, and reusable mandrel. The resulting seamless, reusable and collapsible mandrel has advantages over mandrels which include a seam. Such advantages include a longer useful life and consistently high quality fiber wound vessels at a relatively low cost.
Abstract: A polyvinyl ether and paraffin wax blend is described which is useful as a coating for encapsulates which are stable in an alkaline environment and which exhibit a volume % compressibility of 20 or less at 30.degree. C. The polyvinyl ether material has a molecular formula [C.sub.x H.sub.2x O].sub.y.

Abstract: This invention concerns a novel structure for an illuminated display and unique method for forming illuminated displays. This structure of the display includes a substrate on which are deposited one or more light transmissive layers and an over coating of a light absorptive material. A clear separation layer is also disposed between the light transmissive layers and the light absorptive layers. The novel fabrication process of the present invention includes the use of a NdYAG laser to etch indicia in the light absorptive layer. The NdYAG laser may be operated in either a continuous or pulsed mode at power levels below approximately eight watts and at a rate of travel of about six inches per second. In one preferred embodiment indicia etching is performed operating the NdYAG laser in a pulsed mode and the pattern of indicia is retraced operating the laser in a lower power continuous mode to remove potential residue from etched regions of the light absorptive layer.

Abstract: A dental product is provided in a dual-compartment dispenser that includes a first and second composition in respective compartments thereof. The first composition includes a zinc salt while the second composition includes a bicarbonate salt. Preferably the first composition also contains a peroxygen compound or a C.sub.2 -C.sub.20 carboxylic acid. The zinc salt in combination with the bicarbonate salt achieves an enhanced antitartar effect.

Abstract: A lighting fixture having a simplified structure is provided with such benefits as a junction box attached either permanently or releasably to the housing, a full reflector for improved optics, and support means for installation in different ceiling structures. The reflector is positionable within the housing, whereby inexact or inaccurate mounting of the housing to the ceiling structure can be corrected by changing the orientation of the reflector. Also provided are novel junction boxes. In various embodiments, the junction box may contain an L-shaped door, to cover an L-shaped opening which allows the interior of the junction box to be inspected from the bottom after installation. Another embodiment of junction box includes side walls flexibly joined to permit installation and removal of the junction box. Preferably, this latter embodiment is installed in a fixture through the bottom opening through which the reflector, socket, bulb, and the like are installed.
