Abstract: An assembly is disclosed for mounting on an inclined planar surface, a light fixture suspended by at least one fixture suspension cable and provided with at least one power cord. In general, the mounting assembly comprises a mounting base, and first and second suspension means. The mounting base is for attachment to a planar structure disposed relative to a reference plane, and includes at least one power cord suspension aperture. The first suspension means is operably associated with the mounting base and is adapted for attachment to one end of the fixture cable. The second suspension means is mounted through the power cord suspension aperture and is adapted for attachment to a portion of the power cord. The first suspension means and the second suspension means each permit pivotal movement of the fixture suspension cable and the power cord, respectively, that is, relative to the mounting base, and the first suspension means and the second suspension means are operable independent of each other.

Abstract: Apparatus for measuring the volume of an electrically conductive liquid held in a confined area includes a tank constructed of electrically conductive, fiber-reinforced composite material having an inside surface and an outside surface. An electrically insulative liner is disposed in the tank against the inside surface thereof to receive and hold the liquid. A voltage source supplies an electrical charge to the tank walls, with ground potential being supplied to the liquid, to thereby develop a capacitance between the tank walls and the liquid. The capacitance varies with variation in the volume of liquid and thus by measuring the capacitance, a measure can be made of the volume of liquid in the tank.

Abstract: A fluid dispenser is provided with a carrier having a deformable container capable of being filled with a fluid material to be dispensed, the container being sealed by a closure valve device, with resilient device acting upon the container to place its contents under pressure, and a control device being provided for opening of the closure valve device to permit contents of the container to be ejected by pressure from the resilient device.

Abstract: A spray pump dispenser is described with a lever operated spray actuator mechanism, the lever being contouringly formed in a cap of the mechanism. A pair of guide posts on a plunger of the pump maintain proper orientation of the plunger during downward movement through cooperation with a pair of elongated ribs on an inner side wall of the cap. The aforementioned features prevent rotation of the plunger and control the spray direction as spray exits through a window in the cap.

Abstract: A bleaching/cleaning composition is provided that includes a surfactant, a peroxy bleach compound and a ligand L which is a macrocyclic organic compound of formula: ##STR1## wherein: t is an integer from 2 to 3;s is an integer from 3 to 4;R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or a substituted alkyl or aryl.The preferred ligand is 1,4,7-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane.

Abstract: A substantially non-aqueous liquid detergent composition is provided comprising a liquid phase and a particulate solid phase dispersed therein, said solid phase comprising from about 10% to about 60% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of substantially amorphous sodium metasilicate containing less than 6% by weight of water.

Abstract: Collating apparatus for stacking generally flat articles comprises a chute on opposite sides of which are two pairs of conveyor bands carrying supports for the articles. The conveyor bands are driven as two diagonally opposite pairs so that the stack builds on the supports of one pair of bands while a preceding stack built on the supports of the other pair of bands is discharged from the chute. The supports carried by the bands also comprise members which act on the completed stack to compress it before it is discharged.

Abstract: Twin compartment packets, e.g. tea bags, are formed with the compartments connected at the heads of the packet and optionally at the tails. The packets are produced from a pair of compartmented tubular webs that are brought together with the compartments in register, the webs then being interconnected at the compartment end seals and severed at those seals to form the separate packets. Apparatus for performing the process deposits doses of tea at spaced intervals onto the two separate webs before forming them into the tubular compartmented webs, brings the compartments of the two webs into register, interconnects the registered compartments, and separates the interconnected compartments into individual packets while the web advances continously through the apparatus. The process is capable of high production rates because the webs are able to move through the successive stages at a uniform speed.

Abstract: An apparatus is reported for shaping an end of a solid cosmetic stick such as a deodorant or antiperspirant. The apparatus operates through a method that includes the steps of filling a package body with a molten cosmetic composition, solidifying the composition into stick form, heating a mold or package cap, elevating the stick to extend the package body opening, and contacting an end portion of the stick with the heated die or cap. A pattern such as a trademark or logo may be molded through this process onto the end portion of the stick.

Abstract: A ground lead connection is provided to electrically ground a motor armature shaft. In one embodiment the device has a motor housing in which is mounted a bearing. An armature shaft is journaled in the bearing and a ground lead is attached to the bearing. The bearing is provided with a counter bore socket which receives a terminal from the ground lead. The terminal includes a ferrule and a plug which has flared fingers. When connected, the plug engages the bore of the socket and the fingers engage the counter bore to permanently prevent removal of the terminal from the socket. The shaft is thereby grounded via the bearing without the need for numerous parts.

Abstract: The invention relates to liquid dentifrices which contain particulate siliceous abrasive cleaning agents, stably suspended in a liquid medium with the aid of a polysaccharide gum as suspending agent. By using a particulate siliceous abrasive cleaning agent with a specific surface area of between 50 and 900 m.sup.2 /g, and using a liquid medium which is free from polyol-type humectants, liquid dentifrices are obtained with satisfactory rheological properties. Preferably the compositions have a compositional viscosity index of between 3 and 30, said index being defined as ##EQU1## wherein S=concentration in % of thickening silica, if present, in the liquid medium and P=concentration in % of polysaccharide gum in the liquid medium.

Abstract: A transparent bar is disclosed which requires the components to fit within three critical ratios. The composition comprises a mixture of alkanolammonium and alkali metal C.sub.12 --C.sub.22 atom fatty acid salts, the mole ratio of alkanolammonium to alkali metal fatty acid salt being from about 0.1 to less than 1.0. A liquid solvent system must also be present which includes an amount of water and free alkanolamine in a weight ratio ranging from greater than 0.25 to less than 1.0. The weight ratio of total fatty acid salts to solvent must range from greater than 0.02 to less than 1.0.

Abstract: Dentifrice compositions including specific aldobionamides having a .beta.-galactosidic linkage e.g., lactobionamides, which act as antimicrobial agents and/or inhibitors of bacterial adhesion.

Abstract: Novel bleaches are reported. The bleaches are of the N-sulfonyloxaziridine type. Substrates such as fabrics may be bleached in an aqueous solution containing the oxaziridine.

Abstract: A carton for housing sheets, particularly dryer sheets. The dryer sheets are preferably stacked in a "C" shape and are removed via an access flap which may include 2 hinges and may be reclosable. The ratio of the length of the horizontal axis of the access flap is preferably of a defined ratio to the width of the sheet.

Abstract: A colored cosmetic stick, especially a lipstick, is provided containing water, a solidifying agent such as a wax, and a colorant which is an aluminum salt, especially an aluminum lake.

Abstract: At geosynchronous and other high altitudes a dual cone scanner has been a convenient way of determining both pitch and roll utilizing a single horizon sensor positioned on an orbiting spacecraft whose attitude is to be determined. However, for large roll angles, one of the scans may leave the earth or reference body defeating the purpose of the sensor. In accordance with the present invention, a third cone angle is scanned between the original two, thereby providing two good scans preserving the pitch and roll attitude information, even if one of the scans has rolled off of the reference body.

Abstract: A door closer is shown, which is installed between a door and a door frame, in a balanced door. The door closer is installed in a header of the door frame, and includes an operative connection to a hinge shaft upon which upper and lower door support arms pivot. The operative connection includes a first gear mounted on a check shaft which engages a second gear mounted on the hinge shaft. The second gear preferably has a larger effective diameter than the first gear whereby the limited rotation of the hinge shaft results in a greater rotation of the check shaft to fully utilize the closer functions.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided having exceptional emulsion stability. The composition includes water, petroleum jelly, a sterol, a phosphatide and a C.sub.16 -C.sub.22 alkanoic triglyceride.
