  • Patent number: 6318336
Abstract: An intake port for an internal-combustion engine is composed of an inlet duct which is constructed in the cylinder head and has a more curved section close to the combustion space and a flat or less curved section away from the combustion space. The inlet duct is adjoined by an intake connection piece which is fastened to the cylinder head and is connected wit the intake system. In the intake port formed of the intake connection piece and the inlet duct, a guiding device is constructed which is arranged in the inlet duct and extends into the more curved area of the inlet duct. The guiding device includes a movable section to differently guide the inlet duct flow as a function of engine operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 6318791
Abstract: A folding top for a vehicle is composed of a folding top structure and a folding top cover. The folding top structure, which interacts with folding top bearings arranged on a vehicle body side, includes a forward large-surface dimensionally stable folding top section which extends adjacent to the windshield frame, a main hoop, and a rear-side tensioning bow. To reduce the noise level in the vehicle occupant compartment during vehicle operation, an interior ceiling is provided on the side of the folding top structure facing a vehicle occupant compartment. The interior ceiling is composed of a center part and two lateral parts linked to longitudinal sides of the center part. The center part is detachably fastened on the large-surface dimensionally stable folding top section as well as on the main hoop. The lower edge areas of both lateral parts are detachably held in position, on one side, at the tensioning bow and, on the other side, on the folding top bearings.

  • Patent number: 6315347
Abstract: A center console cross member in a vehicle is aligned in a forward structure at a level of an instrument panel in a transverse direction of the vehicle. The cross member is fastened by one end respectively on opposite vehicle body parts of the motor vehicle. The center console cross member includes a tube-shaped basic member, on which at least one holding element for mounting vehicle function elements, and lateral fastening consoles are mounted. For providing a center console cross member, which, while its construction is simple, can be used for several different vehicles of a vehicle family and by means of which large tolerances can be compensated, it is provided that, onto a basic member of a defined length, one or several holding elements and the two lateral fastening consoles can be slid and can be fixed in the intended position by clamping fastenings, the holding elements and the fastening consoles almost completely enclosing the basic member in areas.

  • Patent number: 6312257
Abstract: Instead of a bunch of bristles coated with abrasive particles, the brush for surface treatments in restorative dentistry comprises one or several lamellar abrasive elements. In the manner of a lametta strip, the abrasive elements are divided by at least one incision, such that a plurality of bristle portions is obtained. Due to the planar configuration of the bristle portions themselves, the latter are easily bendable in at least one direction. If the arrangement of the abrasive elements is such that this direction of easy bending ability is approximately tangential to the intended rotational direction of the brush, the overall flexibility of the brush is substantially increased, thus allowing a substantially improved compliance with application-specific requirements.

  • Patent number: 6308700
Abstract: The invention applies to a diamond dresser consisting of a rotary symmetric body on whose circumference and/or face is applied randomly distributed diamond particles. It is the task of the invention to use simple means to reduce the abrasion on the circumference of the dresser, and thus to achieve a substantial increase in the operational life of the dresser. The invention holds that closely-spaced radial running grooves that stretch to the circumferential edge of one face of the dresser in which oblong diamonds are inserted and fastened, or that in the circumferential edge tightly-spaced radial recesses are formed into which oblong diamonds are inserted and fastened. These oblong diamonds are radially arranged and their ends protrude beyond the circumference of the rotary symmetric body. The oblong diamonds substantially reduce abrasion to the circumference of the rotary symmetric body.

  • Patent number: 6300256
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a device for the production of electrically conductive passages in semiconductor components preferably positioned on a semiconductor, by means of thermo-migration through the production of a temperature gradient between two opposing outer surfaces of the semiconductor components and application of a conductive doping substance to a cooler outer surface. One outer surface of the semiconductor is positioned on a cooled sample take-up and the opposing outer surface is exposed to heat radiation, which can be controlled both with regard to its total efficiency and its efficiency distribution over the surface of the semiconductor. The total efficiency and/or the efficiency distribution of the heat radiation is adjusted depending upon the temperature measured on at least one temperature measurement point on the semiconductor and/or a semiconductor component.

  • Publication number: 20010025748
Abstract: An internally ventilated brake disk has two friction rings and an inside shoe brake, in the interior friction ring. A ring groove is provided which, in its base, has passage openings to air guiding ducts between the friction rings of the brake disk. The ring groove is bounded laterally by a water collecting surface and on the opposite side by a water draining surface, in which case these two surfaces are inclined with respect to an exterior groove opening such that this groove opening is narrowed. The water collecting surface is arranged in an intended manner with respect to a wall of the air guiding duct. This indentation is used for collecting splashing water and removing the splashing water by way of the air guiding duct or a space between the friction ring and the shielding metal plate to the outside.
