Abstract: A position measuring system for the determination of the relative positions of two objects which can be moved with respect to each other, as well as a process for operating the same are disclosed, which in case of a relative movement provides at least one pair of phase-shifted analog incremental signals, and which makes possible a definite variation of the signal periods (SP) by at least one signal period variation factor (n) of the analog incremental signals transmitted to an evaluation unit arranged behind it by a signal period variation unit. The signal period variation unit furthermore comprises correction means for eliminating most varied errors in the output signals (SIN′, COS′). Among these are counted errors possibly resulting during the signal period variation, as well as measurement arrangement-specific errors.

Abstract: A roof rack includes longitudinal members mounted on longitudinal sides of a roof of a vehicle body and is disposed in receiving devices such that the longitudinal members can be moved from a lowered position into an operative position and vice versa. End pieces of the longitudinal members, which rest in spaced receiving devices of the roof, are swivelled, for setting the operative position or the lowered position, outside the receiving devices and about an axis of rotation extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The end pieces are then inserted again in the receiving devices. Each of the end pieces is releasably connected with a respective longitudinal member.
Abstract: An angular position encoder having a connecting cable (7) that is mounted simply and reliably is described. The cable (7) is connected so that it is relieved of strain. The connecting cable is clamped by a holder (10) on the housing (8). The housing (8) includes a cut-out (9) which makes a connector (6) accessible for attachment of the cable (7). The cut-out (9) can be sealed by a cover (12), and the cover (12) securely locks the holder (10) in its position.
Abstract: A suction system has a device for utilizing resonance effects is provided on an internal-combustion engine with a lambda control and opposed cylinder banks. The suction system also has a resonance container which is connected to an air filter by a pipe connection provided with an air flow sensor. For optimization with respect to the components and the operation, the pipe connection has a first pipe section and a second pipe section which are separated from one another and in which one throttle valve respectively is arranged. An air flow sensor is provided only in one pipe section, and the control of the air flow in the other pipe section takes place by way of the lambda control.
Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I)
wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, Ar, X, Q, A, Y and Z are as defined in the specification. These compounds are useful in the treatment and/or prevention of conditions mediated by nuclear receptors, in particular the Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors (PPAR).

Abstract: A method for the control of a multi-axis machine tool, in particular for the regulation of the position of the individual axes as a function of at least one other axis or external parameters. The method includes providing a coupling function for each axis so that the coupling function can be programmed by the operator of the machine tool and activating the coupling function only after all axes involved in the coupling have been referenced.
Abstract: A medication for treatment of disease caused by virus, and particularly retrovirus, and a method of production of the medication are based on use of the active agents, polycyclic diones (hypericin, pseudohypericin and/or salts thereof), of the plant Hypericum (St. John's Wort) with other components occurring in the plant wherein the concentration of polycyclic diones is between 0.05% and 50% whereby a therapeutic antiretroviral effect is attained while undesirable side effects are largely avoided.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for lowering a power window for vehicles is provided. In order to provide a method for lowering a power window which is improved with respect to the lowering movement of the window, system slacks are first determined in an operating device of the window and, when an unlocking of the vehicle is detected, for example, by the operation of a door lock or by the radio operation of a central locking system, the system slacks are eliminated in the lowering direction of the window by the corresponding control of the operating device.

Abstract: A counterbearing for a spring is used to support an actuating element for a latching device of a selector lever. To facilitate assembly, the counterbearing is made table-shaped and includes a plate with laterally formed spreading arms. The spreading arms are provided endwise with latching noses which are received by openings in a lower part of the selector lever with essentially parallel walls.

Abstract: A disk brake includes a brake disk which is surrounded by a caliper carrying lining devices. On the side of the lining device facing a brake lining surface, the brake disk has a concave brake disk surface. In order to at least partially reduce the noise emitted occurring during slow-down braking, the concavity of the brake disk surface and the convexity of the brake lining surface are constructed such that a noise-reducing form closure occurs.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for gloss coating articles or a portion of an article's surface and articles produced from this method. A corrosion-inhibiting polishing base coat is applied in a known fashion, after which a high-gloss layer produced by atomization, preferably magnetron atomization, is applied. Then, a transparent, wear-resistant top coat layer is applied in a known fashion. The articles can also be pretreated, if desired, and given a protective or other layers. By using this method, parts for vehicles, especially vehicle wheels, can be produced in a great variety of colors and with improved qualities.
